Sure, Richmond was a key contributor on winning that ring in 2002. Those 2 minutes per game (4 minutes total over 2 games played) were really helpful in the post season. What would the Lakers have done without him.

Reggie miller will most likely make it. I think it will be much better if he make it next year, it would be in baf taste if he makes it in the year his 3pt shooting toal was broken.

I disagree, I don't think there's any good reason to hold off on it just because of the coincidental timing of his record being broken around the same time he becomes eligible for the Halll. He should've at least been amongst the finalists, it's bizarre that he didn't make the cut ahead of some of the other individuals that did.

What the fuck is the point of this argument? I don't even hate Mitch. In fact, I used to love watching Mitch play as he was my favorite player at one point(I even remember him being on the cover of first NBA Live PC game I bought.) and I recognize his awesomeness when he was in prime. But Reggie made a bigger impact with longer career and success in the playoffs. Great clutch player who was loyal, intensive and one of the best 3 point shooter in the history if not the best. 8-9 good years from Mitch, but it falls a little short(especially in popularity) when you compare that to what Reggie and Payton brought to the league.

overhyped? He was probably the most underrated superstar in the league, speaking of Miller, he said that Mitch Richmond is the second best 2 guard that has ever played against too. Im not like Mitch's big fan or anything, but wow, hes still so unbelievably underrated, he has arguable one of the best strokes in the NBA ever, is extremely strong, shoots from perimeter better than MJ, yeah, MJ is still a much better player, but Mitch also was a one man army, I'm pretty sure that Richmond will be forgotten after like 10 years because he has never been very popular nor has played in a not terriawful team in his prime. Shame really, I would've loved him in Knicks or any decent East team. His matchups with MJ were epic, as were with Miller(Miller v MJ and Starks v MJ were still the best matchups EVER, even though I really, really hate Miller for being dirty whiner).

if he compares Mitch to Redd or Rip. what the fuck is he smoking? Mitch was the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th scoring option for Kings, was getting constantly double-teamed and so forth and hes calling him overhyped. LOL. he was one of few guys who could give every 2 guard in the league a nice beating.

i think the most adequate modern day comparison for mitch would be redd, without the injuries. he was a very consistent and reliable scorer, had a really awesome first three seasons with the warriors and did his thing for a few seasons until his neck rolls multiplied. he was the kings superstar, yeah, but the same could be said about redd with the bucks. he still didn't lead them to rings and neither has redd.

still, mitch was a really good shooter in his prime. just not as good as miller.

reggie will have his place in the hof soon. there's just a bunch of players/coaches waiting to get in.

btw, why hasn't tex winter been inducted yet? john bunn award is bs, just put him in already.

His continued exclusion from the Basketball Hall of Fame is indeed puzzling. He was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame last year (the fifth class of inductions for that Hall) so even if one was to suggest that he was "only" a noteworthy assistant coach in the NBA, there's enough to his body of work as a head coach in college - not to mention his innovation of the triangle offense, utilised by eleven NBA championship teams to date - to merit induction, even if his resume lacks a lengthy and successful stint as a head coach in the pros.

It's a shame he didn't make it to the NBA until age and injuries had pushed him a little past his prime. Love the "You've got to be kidding me!" then immediately switching gears to "Hey, it's cool" banter with the referees; not sure that'd fly if he were in the league today.
