shadowgrin wrote:Sure, Richmond was a key contributor on winning that ring in 2002. Those 2 minutes per game (4 minutes total over 2 games played) were really helpful in the post season. What would the Lakers have done without him.
Check how many post seasons Reggie played/carried his team in as opposed to Mitch Richmond.

1. The scoring streak.
2. The Jordan quote.
3. Run TMC.
4. The epic gap between Jordan and the rest of the two guards that's incomparable to almost any other situation at any position in league history and the irrational desire by the media and fans for a proper "rivalry" among stars. (See also, all the whining about Shaq.)
Neither Miller nor Richmond are in Payton's class. For one thing, Payton did things other than score. And there was a period where he was likely the best player at a competitive position.
I did learn today that Miller went to the All-Star game far fewer times than I thought. Would have figured he was a reserve staple for a while. He didn't even go in most of his highest scoring seasons, must play for a winner rule in effect there.
Starks v MJ ... best matchups EVER
Im not like Mitch's big fan or anything
Dovydass wrote:I'm pretty sure that Richmond will be forgotten after like 10 years because he has never been very popular nor has played in a not terriawful team in his prime. Shame
benji wrote:People talk about Richmond like he's one of the unrecognized greats (ala God Damn Dantley) or was some kind of superstar. He wasn't. He's more like Rip Hamilton, Ben Gordon or Michael Redd than anything resembling a superstar player. Or a "one-man army."Starks v MJ ... best matchups EVER

Nah. I'd say it's pretty clear you're one of those blinded "the 90's were the best time of basketball ever!" fans. I don't see how John Starks could be involved in anything considered the "best ever" otherwise.
