Does anyone have anything interesting or significant planned for the holiday season?
The last couple of years, my brother's hosted everyone at his place up in Brisbane but this year it'll just be a quiet Christmas at home. He'll be down in January though along with my sister-in-law, nephew and niece to have a late Christmas and catch up with all the relatives down here. In between now and then, it's just a matter of catching up with a few mates, thankfully I finished the Christmas shopping the other day and don't fancy going out again unless I absolutely have to.

My elder brother had his own family and has moved away from home since 2004, every December, or when randomness comes, he, his wife, and daughter, comes here for Christmas. Good times. We usually watch a replay of WWE Armageddon. My niece, who's about to turn 3 this December 20, seems to like watching WWE.

They usually stay here for the holidays, we watch movies and stuff, endless storytelling. That alone makes a good Christmas for me.

I'll be crossing the border to spend Xmas in Juarez, and given the current climate, it'll be a miracle if I come back in one piece...

Going to rob Santa. I was a good boy last year, and I didn't get shit. If I see any of your names on the gifts, I won't take them.

Family dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Both my sisters' boyfriends are coming this year and they're both hilarious so it's all good. Heading north to a friend's house in Switzerland on New Years (which also happens to be my birthday.)

Be careful with that. Remember, he's got magic powers.

I can't imagine that would be much fun. I'm guessing the pay would be decent though, do you get any time-and-a-half or double time for that?

Go home and relax with family during the holidays, then come back to school about 2 or 3 weeks before it starts to do some work and get ready for last semester as an undergraduate.

I guess we should include New Year's Eve in the festivities as well. My friends are hosting a NYE party at their place, that's where I'll be entering 2009.

You get double time and a half for Boxing Day... it's just that we stay back a few hours on Christmas Eve to set up for the sale... so at least I will know all the sweet deals coming out before we open... but we can't buy anything till our break when everything will be gone lol
And I work in toys... so you don't know how busy it has been! I've seen toys go off the shelves like hot cakes... people disappointed because their toy has been sold out after a day or two... and basically the amount of people shopping building up for the past month. Fun. All I think is, 'What Economic crisis?'

I'd hate to have to deal with customers in that department this time of year. Like I said, I'm glad to have gotten all my Christmas shopping done already so I don't have to brave the shops this last week leading up to the 25th.

Step 1
Collect Underpants
Step 2
?
Step 3
Profit
Anyway: it appears this holiday season due to family stresses and issues is gonna be a constant reminder of the pettiness and stupidity of certain people that i care alot about. Should be good times for all. Expect to see me in a bottle of rum more so than egg nog. I'll be well within safe limits that dont border on alcoholism: i just get the feeling next week is going to be tearing me into 3 directions and none of them are right
I havent shopped yet except for the girly. I might not even. New years currently my plans are to watch football and nothing more.
But hey: i get to see some family that i havent seen in forever

I can't believe how unreasonable customers are! One lady rings up and here's how the call went:
Lady: Hi, I have rung North Lakes and they don't have a Barbie Glamor Jet so I want you to order one in for me now.
Me: (Thinking she was rude) I'm sorry mam but we can't do that as we don't have the stock as we are sold out now.
Lady: (Getting angry) Your catalog says that you will have the stock in until December 24.
Me: I think you are mistaken as the catalog just states all the prices we are selling it at. There is no guarantee that the stock will be available up until that time and I am sure that somewhere in small print it will say that the sale lasts until stocks last.
Lady: Then you should tell me if you can check a computer to see if where stock is available!
Me: Myer don't have a central computer that we can check where stock is available. You will unfortunately need to ring each store to see if they have it in stock. I would help you out but it's really busy at this time of year so I can offer to give you a list of numbers of stores you want to ring.
Lady: I want to speak to a manager.
Me: Sure.
Anyways, so she rings back later and bitches to the girl I work with and she comes up to me and I asked what she said. She was like, 'She said that all the stock was unavailable and you were rude.' And I asked how I was rude and she said, 'You told her you would give her all the numbers for the stores.' And I said, 'so?' and the girl laughed, 'yeah. I was thinking so what!'

I don't get how customers can be such bitches sometimes... I get some strange ones. A few weeks ago, some lady tried to convince me that she put something on hold, an item that was sold out a week prior to when she came in. And I asked if a man or woman put it on hold and she said man and on that day, I was the only guy working so I caught her out lying. In order to restore her own 'pride' she started shouting at me lol. As I said, strange people!

Ah yes, I can definitely relate. I've encountered that particular type of customer many times, they're the worst of the rude customers as they try to get you in trouble when you've actually been polite and tried your best to help them as best you can, with as much authority as you're given.
Sat Dec 20, 2008 10:39 pm
The worst part is that they think they can 'Jedi Mind Trick' you into getting them stock that is sold out... I always want to say, 'Where do you think I can get it from? My ass?'
Sun Dec 21, 2008 7:27 pm
Ah yes, the magic stock room with an unlimited supply of everything. You get the feeling some customers have never worked in retail or customer service.
