Oregon, Portland:

The Portland Trail Blazers start the season with a win against the rejuvenated Los Angeles Clippers 99-78. New Clipper Baron Davis lead all scorers with 24 points while Marcus Camby dominated in the paint with 11 boards and 5 blocks. However, this was not enough to lift the Clippers as the Blazers outran them the whole game. Rookie Jerryd Bayless led the Blazers with 18 points and 7 assists with alot of help from Channing Frye off the bench with 18 points and 3 rebounds.

"I felt confident enough to stand up against a star (in Baron Davis) and lead the team to its first win." Bayless

The bad news is Greg Oden, coming back for his first game after missing last season due to an injury is back on the injured list when he injured his ankle in the second quarter of play. He won't be back for a couple of games and will be badly missed by the team.

Below is the complete box score for the game:

Play of the game:

A steal by Bayless against Davis that led to a fastbreak and an alley-oop for Outlaw with Camby looking on.

nope...what i will do is play 2 games in a row then simulate the 3rd then play another 2 and so on...

UPDATE:

Greg Oden: A rookie that is a sophomore

On September 14, 2007, Oden had microfracture surgery on his ailing right knee. He missed the entire season. He will be classified as a rookie this season because of non-play in the last season due to his knee injury.

Reporter: How big was your first game in the NBA?

Greg Oden: It was pretty amazing. I was nervous and excited. I came out shaky at the start of the game but got my rhythm eventually.

R: You fell hard on your right foot late in the second quarter of that game and was sent to the locker room. You got your team and the crowd hyped when you returned in the fourth quarter to finish the game. Now you are on the injured list again and will most likely miss a couple of games. What's the deal with the injury?

GO: I felt that I can just run and waive off the pain. And I did not feel any pain at all during the course of the game. But then after game we had it x-rayed and t'was a broken spur. Maybe the reason why I did not feel any pain is because of my will to play and win.

R: What was your teams' reaction?

GO: They always back me up. We have a great team chemistry. They know that I always give a hundred and 10 percent in practices, and that was what I also showed in our last game. I'll be back soon and expect me to rock the Garden of Oden.

R: Well, thanks Greg and hope to see you in action soon.

GO: You certainly will and thank you too.

Boston:

Blazers gave the Celtics fans nothing to cheer about as they came up with their 2nd consecutive win against the defending champs the Boston Celtics 88-74. The Celtics opened up the game with 2 straight three's courtesy of Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen.

The game was close all the way to the last 2 minutes of the final quarter where the Blazers made consecutive shots and Celtics missing theirs. The Celtics only led once in the game when Ray Allen scored a buzzer beating 3-pointer to end the 3rd qtr and start the 4th with a 64-63 lead over the Blazers.

Rondo was in foul trouble early in the game which resulted on him being on the bench longer that he should have. Casualties for both teams occured like snow in the winter time as Brandon Roy went out of the game with a pulled calf muscle at the 5:42 mark in the 2nd qtr. KG followed next with a back injury at the 4:44 mark of the 3rd qtr. Gabe Pruitt who came in to relive Rondo went out of the game with 3:38 mins to go in the 4th with a broken finger and is likely to miss some games. Brandon Roy will be out for 7 days while KG was listed as day-to-day.

"This is a bad time for us really. We're just lucky. With 2 of our main players in the injured list, we need to step it up a couple of notches to win our next game (Raptors). When KG went out, I immediately knew that this is our time to attack. We are faster and younger than them (Celtics) so we focused on running in every possession that we had." Bayless

"I felt bad leaving the game with so much time remaining. I could have done more to help my team. But it's a good game for us and we have to credit it all to the guys who came out and filled the space that I and G.O. left." Roy

"I'm kinda used to sitting down and watching the team play so this is not a new scenario for me. But I've been itching to play against the top teams in the league and I will get another chance when i come back after 5 weeks of rehabilitation." Oden

Jerryd Bayless finished with 17 points and 11 assists to lead Blazers to a 2-0 card. Ray Allen finished with 25 points to top all scorers.

Below is the complete box score of the game:

Play of the game:

This started with a cut in the middle by Rajon who then received the ball from Pierce. However, Aldridge was there to spoil his fun and blocked his shot. Bayless recovers which resulted into a fast break and Outlaw on the receiving end of an alleyoop pass.

Next game will be with the Toronto Raptors. With Greg Oden still out of the lineup, how will the Blazers fair with their all-star front court consisting of Jermaine O'Neal and Chris Bosh. Don't miss this run n' gun game when two running type teams go head-to-head...Next....

Portland:

Coming into a game under-manned is what the Blazers did not want to do. However, with no choice and the challenge in their faces, they went into it without hesitation.

The 1st qtr went by so fast with Calderon sitting out most of the game because of foul trouble having picked up 2 quickies 2 mins into the game. Bayless and Przybilla showed great aggressiveness to start the game grabbing offensive boards and driving any open lanes. The Raptors found themselves in penalty early in the first qtr.

The 2nd qtr showed obvious domination in the paint as the twin towers of the Raptors combined for 31 points and 11 boards. However, Przybilla and Aldridge did not come down easy for they answered with their own combined 28 points and 17 boards.

The Blazers were down 14 at the start of the 3rd qtr but found a hero in Martell Webster who scored all of his 10 points in the 3rd qtr which ended with the score of 54-59 in favor of the Raptors.

This big run continued in the fourth quarter as they took the lead with a dunk from Travis Outlaw (60-59). The Blazers showed great discipline in defense and aggressiveness in offense. Bayless has to go out and never return to the game with 5 fouls. With the Raptors in the lead 74-73, Webster took a hurried shot with 9 secs left in the game but missed big time. However, Aldridge was there to save the day with an offensive board and the dunk to give them the lead 74-75 with 6.5 seconds to go.

Sam Mitchel called for his last timeout to setup what could be the final play of the game. The inbound went directly to Bargnani who then went for the leaning jumpshot that went in with 3.7 secs to go and eventually win the game.

Aldridge and O'Neal both lead the game in scoring with 18 points apiece and Aldridge leading the boards tally with 11. Roko Ukic who was Calderon's reliever dished out 7 dimes to lead the game.

"It was a great win for us coming from a loss and on the road." O'Neal

"We had our chances to win the game but came up short. It was a good game for us and something to take to our next game." Webster

"I was not the original recipient of the inbound pass but what happened was the defense anticipated the ball going to number 18 coz he's been hot all game and I was left in the rotation so I was free to take the winning shot. It was a good feeling being able to win a game for my club." Bargnani

Oskar, NBA Live 06

Lamrock, thanks man!

I'll have to mention that the last game with the Raptors is a simulated game that I watched from the sidelines...I was on the edge of my seat with this game coz it really went down the wire... (Y)

LATEST UPDATE:

Image

The Blazers are in such luck as the Orlando Magic center Dwight "D12" Howard will not be playing due to an injury. This gives the Blazers the edge with regards to the front court lineup with only Rashard Lewis to worry about.

Portland:

The Magic started the game with guns ablaze with Pietrus leading the way who scorched the Blazers with 11 pts in the 1st qtr. The game was very physical as alot of pushing and holding was called by the refs and both teams having a combined of 9 attempts on the FT line in the 1st qtr alone.

Hedo started the 2nd qtr with a 3 pointer giving the Magic a 26-22 lead. Lewis continued with the barrage as he scored 15 points of his own but had to go out with 4mins left in the 2nd qtr having committed 3 fouls. The Blazers took this opportunity and went on a small run, orchestrated by the amazing defense of Rudy Fernandez (i call him "Octopussy" coz he looks like he has 8 arms when on defense) having 2 steals and countless taps on the ball on passing lanes, to take the lead by the end of the half (40-49).

The 3rd qtr was no difference at all. The Spanish import dominated the defensive end with a couple of more steals that deranged the Magic offense as well as their transition defense for these steals often resulted into a fastbreak.

The Magic made a couple runs here and there but the Blazers was just too much for them tonight. Jerryd bayless who had a quiet double-dboule performance, with 19 points and 12 dimes, found a new partner in Rudy F. as they combined for 44 points with assists between them once in a while.

"Esto es un gran juego para mí. Sentía la energía. Estaba triste que no podía jugar contra Dwight Howard. Planeaba posterize lo otra vez. HAHAHA. Bromeaba solamente. Usted toma a Sr. Howard del cuidado y cura encima de rápido."

(This is a big game for me. I felt the energy. It was sad that I was not able to play against Dwight Howard. I was planning to posterize him again. HAHAHA. I was only joking. You take care Mr. Howard and heal up fast.) - Rudy F

" It was a good thing Rudy stepped up from the bench and doused Pietrus with cold water as he was killing us in the first half." - Bayless

"I had it easy in the paint. Aldridge did a good job boxing out Rashard who did not return to the game until the 4th quarter so we really had it easy in there." - Przybilla

With Brandon Roy sure to return and play a couple of minutes on their next game (Denver), the Blazers are stronger than ever. Bayless will be tested again in his match-up against The Answer. Will he stand up to the challenge? Will the Blazers overcome their front court problems again as they face K-Mart and Nene in the paint? Don't miss this exciting match-up coming up next!

Denver:

The first half saw the struggle of the Blazers as they try to stay afloat against the 3-point bombs that Melo and Smith are trhowing on them. Melo with 17 and Smith with 15 points are simply killing the Blazers.

Bayless was clearly out of his game with only 3 assists in his stat sheet against AI's 7 points and 8 dishes. K-Mart was unstoppable in the paint as he hooked, dunked, and blocked in the defensive end.

"They are just too much for us now. We will re-group and be back in the 2nd half hopefully with a better battle plan." Bayless mentioned during a half-time interview.

Brandon Roy, still not 100% percent had to stay longer in the game than planned to provide leadership on the court. He provided 13 points.

The second half proved to be the same when AI started with a three-pointer. Bayless was still nowhere to be found as he continued to miss shot after shot. Smith continued to be unstoppable with Melo being consistent on the side. this continued till the 4th qtr as the lead ballooned to 20. The Blazers was able to bring it down to 10 but time was not on their side as the Nuggets went away with a big win over the sloppy play of the Blazers.

Blazers Trainer Damien Teal was not happy with the way B-Roy was utilized as he was still mending his injury. "If this continues, he could aggravate his injury and may result into a longer rehabilitation." He added.

"They were just out of it. We are all for it. that's just the way it is. I look forward to meeting them again and maybe next time they will be up to the challenge. - AI

"Uhm My shots just kept sinking like it's Christmas. I felt the momentum and i knew i can drain any shot given to me by the defense." said by J.R. Smith who came away with the Player of the game honors.

I am glad to open up this new section in my updates the "TAKANORI's CORNER" where he will breakdown Blazers up and coming games.

Background: Takanori Chen is the Blazers' Scout and he has done a great job with his accurate scouting and advise.

Takanori: The Blazers' last game only proved that if you are not focused in your game and get intimidated, you will never get to do what the coach asks you to do and eventually make a fool of yourself on the court and on Global TV.

Now to do what I'm here for, the New Jersey Nets are no pushovers. Even with a 3-4 record, from a loss courtesy of Detroit, and no win on the road, they are still a playoff team and they've got the experience.

The Blazers should exploit the following:

- The Nets are 7th in the league in TO's
- They are 10th in Fouls
- Play aggressive defense. Based on their previous games, they always win if they score 80 points and above and lose if below.

With these things in mind, I hope the Blazers win it this time. Go Blazers!!!

only problem i see is that the cpu have a lot of DNPs. it isn't that realistic if the team is sure to win but they only used half of its players.

Portland:

The Blazers came into the game with fire in their eyes for they want redemption after being thrashed by the Nuggets. The game was very physical as bodies fly and fall everytime the ball hits the paint.

Aldridge led the Blazers through the first half with his aggressive rebounding and sweet moves under the basket. However, like Scout Takanori mentioned, the Nets will not fall down easily as they rallied late in the 2nd qtr to cut the lead to 1.

The 3rd qtr held a different story as the Nets continued their run to take a commanding lead of up to 15pts. Jerryd Bayless, the starting point for the Blazers, is having another off night as he finished with 10pts and was out-classed by Dooling, who stepped in for the injured Devin Harris, who had 24pts.

The aggressive front court of the Blazers led by Aldridge popped out as their rivals Yi and Lopez were out of synch.

With Bayless out of his game, Steve Blake stepped up and made a couple of defensive stops including 2 steals off the inbound pass that resulted into 4 quick points with a minute left in the game to cut the lead down to four. An error in the part of Dooling saw his pass going out of bounds that gave the Blazers another chance to inch closer as B-Roy drained another basket. Another missed shot for the Nets prompted Coach Nate to call a timeout to map out the final play with 6 secs left. The inbound pass was very direct as Steve Blake received the ball from the side of court, dribbled it once then took a side-winding 3-pt shot that bounces twice on the ring before it went in. The crowd went wild as the Nets struggled to take the last shot but to no avail.

"We're just drained out. Nothing is working for us right now. We had the game but we let it slip." - VC

"I feel good. Although we did not have a great game but we still managed to sneak out of it." - Steve Blake

"I think he's (Bayless) feelin' the pressure too much. He needs to get his head in the game more and do what he does best and that is to win games for us." - Coach Nate

Blazers go up 4-2 in the standings.

"So what are you doin' tonight candy lips?" (smiles in a charismatic way)

"Uhm excuse me Mr. Chen" - analyst

"Oh sorry your already here. Where are we? Oh the Sixers game."

Well, another lucky game against the Nets back there. The Sixers like the Nets are no push-vers. They are 2 and 2 on the road. Coming from a win against the Pacers where Iguodala is alwasy an obvious threat from anywhere on the court. With Elton Brand manning the paint, the Blazers need to increase efforts on boxing-out. L-Train needs to step up once again and show why his one of the top picks of his class.

Gossip: I heard from the coaching staff that their replacing Bayless from the starting position until he gets his game going. Blake, who has been great in the last games of the Blazers should be a prime candidate for that starting spot.
