FREE AGENTS RUINING THE GAME FOR ME

Wed Nov 19, 2003 8:29 am

why is it that when you start your second season and beyond, all the big name free agents dont resign with thier teams, and then dont even sign on a new team the following seasons? i have cpu initiated trades turned on... but paul pierce and a.i. havent signed on any team in 3 years :shock:
i mean, i dont mind building a champion through free agency.. but i already have 7 guys ranked 80 or better. whats the fun in this?
how do you get these guys to sign onto a team?

as people say it's a bug

It was a bug in NBA live 2003 also... great to see that the guys over at EA are "working hard" to put out a good product... grrr

it's a fair prick.. atleast in 2003 and they only required min points so you could get all good players and have an uberteam.. but now they just sit out comepletely.. I play dynasty mode without playing the games a bit just for the fun of managing a team and just recently by the 4th year kobe, tmac, pierce and garnett were all off the cards for good.. the only way to pick em up is to not resign players and just resign sub 60 players at min points until u have enough points free to pick em up.. but ur team would prolly be out of contention for a good 5 - 10 years.. v.frustrating

WHAT? :x

I knew the bug was there, but i didn't know you can't even sign for the minimum. That's so strange. :?

I had the same exact problem with mine, so here's what I did:

I went into my nba live dir, in this case F:\Games\NBA Live 2004\felogic and edited the salary.ini.

I replaced the first section with these values:

[SalaryCapVariables]
salarycap=9000000
maxsalarycap=9250000
minsalary=30000
maxsalary=300000
salarycapincrease=100000
canadianteampenalty=1.03
youngagemod=1.08
oldagemod=0.95
superoldagemod=0.90
tradepctdiff=40
tradefudge=100000

Everything else I left alone. I then saved as, and loaded up NBA Live 2004.

What this does is basically remove the cap, not very realistic... but neither is having rasheed wallace spending his career as a free agent. This allows me to sign free agents that the computer doesn't, and being the honest player that I am, and also wanting to keep the game competitive and fun, I trade them to teams who I think would have made a bid on them for a bad player I can just release.

I guess its based on your preference if you want to do this or not, I didn't mind sacrificing the cap to have players on teams making them competitive, and interestingly enough now the cpu initiates decent trades.

For example, I got offered Yao Ming (75) for Ricky Davis (74) a trade of that magnitude I've never seen before. It's generally a guy who is 48 for a guy who is 51 or something close.

Its up to you really, but I like this as a temporary fix (assuming EA fixes this with a patch).

I needed that... thanks :)

Yeah, wishful thinking ;) I can only play this game in 640x480 *shudder*

But at least now I won't be playing a ton of teams with absolutely no big name players. :|

Excuse, HeHateMe...those modifications really work? I mean, u only modified those lines?

And, about this bug...have anybody complaint to EA?...sending a letter, email, a copy of Madden...i dont know...they should know we're pretty piss!
