I guess it is safe to say they are the two best coaches in the currently NBA.
Who would you rather have to coach your team?

Gregg Popovich.
He knows how to build a consistent competitive team if given one great player (Duncan) to surround with other players.

Phil Jackson hasn't had luck with Kobe, yet.

Mike Brown's "Defense" is a result of Gregg Popovich.
He was once an assistant of Pops.

Red Auerbach ....

Nah honestly .. why puttin up all those threads "whos better" etc. ? It would be better to at least name it "name your favourite coach and why?" ... the forum is a bit spammed with topics right now ..

@topic: I guess Id take Popovich right now since Jax had his best days with the Bulls.

Anyone that says Phil lacks knowledge. Phil is a borderline HOF coach, rings mean nothing.

So you're supporting phil or aren't? You're saying rings mean nothing but phil is HOF material? I'm confused.

Phil is a great basketball psychologist, great at managing egos, and motivating players. But he is a terrible in game coach/strategist and simply cannot coach defense or offense. He is a basketball psychologist, nothing more. Most people will say Phil is the greatest coach of all time because he has 9 rings. He won those rings simply because he had arguably 3 of the top 10 greatest players of all time with him on all those championship teams.

Well its just like those "who is better" threads not always make sense, I mean, especially when it comes to coaches we do not see their work off the court which is the most important part. I think its hard to tell who is better ... you can say who is more successful ... but better ?
Just my opinion, but since I aint a mod, I think I might shut up next time.

Hmm i think its more than 3

If i am gonna choose between those two i will pick Popovich because he knows how to coach a true championship team despite some of its players are aging and its supporting cast are not that good and knows how to use its players well

End of any racist discussion.

I would pick Pop. He has set up a defensive system around Tim Duncan that has allowed the Spurs to continue to substitute, and mix and match players over the years and remain a championship competitor. He is a great in-game strategist, and manages the game very effectively. Phil Jackson can be a headcase and a media nut.

As soon as the topic of man-love is mentioned in the thread Axel suddenly appears. :eh:
