GAME PREVIEW: Kwame's Back!

INDIANA- After an 0-3 record since Kobe Bryant went down, good news may be looming over the horizon.

Lakers center Kwame Brown is returning to the lineup just in time as the Los Angeles Lakers get ready to face the Indiana Pacers at Conceco Fieldhouse. Brown is averaging 12.7 points and 8.3 rebounds, giving the Los Angeles Lakers much-needed help in the front court.

This game marks the second game Jason Kidd is playing, coming off a 109-107 setback against Chicago Bulls, a game with an unexpected result. Ben Wallace nailed the game-winning jump shot as time expired.

LA is still without Kobe Bryant, who is recovering from a broken finger and will miss the next two weeks.

It is Kwame who is back. Read the post or at least look at the pictures before spamming dumbass.

Great to see Kidd a Laker. I was disappointed when the deal didn't go down way back when. Also, being a Kwame Brown fan, that 12.7/8.3 average is pleasing.

INDIANA- It looked like another long day in Lakerland.

Los Angeles trailed 80-64 entering the fourth quarter after sluggish play all throughout, but Jason Kidd came out of the gates hot, driving the paint at will, refusing to lose and drove the Lakers to a 100-97 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

With 2 minutes remaining, LA had cut the lead down to six, 95-89 and thirty seconds later, the game was tied at 95-95. By this time all momentum was on the Lakers' side and Indiana was shooting blanks. With a minute left, Kidd gave Los Angeles their first lead of the game at 97-95. After a blown layup by Troy Murphy, Kidd fed Evans for a jam with 39.0 seconds left to put some separation, 99-95.

Jermaine O'Neal scored his 40th point on a jumper with 30.0 seconds remaining, cutting the lead to 99-97. Kidd looked to run the clock down and seal the game, but blew a layup in the lane with 13.2 seconds left, giving the Pacers hope. However, Indiana missed their chance when Marquis Daniels threw a pass intended for O'Neal out of bounds with 4.0 seconds left. Kidd split his free throws to set the final score.

Kidd finished with 30 points, 21 in the final quarter, to go along with 5 assists and 5 steals, leading LA to their first win since Kobe Bryant went down. Vladimir Radmanovic chipped in with 18. Luke Walton, scored 12 points, before going down near the end of the game with a sore shoulder and did not return. Doctors said he will be out 12 days.

Jermaine O'Neal scored 40 points to lead Indiana.

SCOTT PADGETT SIGNED

Image

In light of Luke Walton's injury, the Lakers have signed 31-year old forward Scott Padgett to help the fading front court. LA is once again short-handed, with four players on the injured list.

He averages 4.2 career points and is a 37% three-point shooter. His best season came in 2001-2002, where he averaged 6.7 points and shot 43.4% from beyond the arc.

"Scott ads another body in our front court," Isaiah Cruz said. "Luke Walton is out, and we need all the bigs we can get. He stretches the defense and is a veteran presence on this very relatively young team."

He will make his debut against the Milwaukee Bucks.

MILWAUKEE- It looked like it was over.

Two Michael Redd dunks off Laker miscues put Milwaukee up 105-97 with less than a minute remaining. But two Jason Kidd layups and a Maurice Evans dunk later, the game was all tied at 105-105 with 42.1 seconds remaining. Another LA steal later, Kidd had the ball with 25 seconds left and the chance to pull off another amazing comeback. He drove the lane sank the game-winning lay-up with 2.1 seconds left to propel the Los Angeles Lakers to their second straight win, a 107-105 escape in Milwaukee.

Kidd flirted with a triple-double, scoring 26 points to go along with 9 assists and 7 steals. Kwame Brown, in his second game back, had a huge one with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Ronny Turiaf, who started at power forward, had 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Michael Redd waxed hot for the Bucks, going off for 47 points on 21-of-39 shooting. He nailed four 3-pointers, while scoring 20 of his team's 30 in the second quarter and gave the Milwaukee a big lead. Redd had 27 by halftime.

Los Angeles started a third quarter surge and out-scored the Bucks 40-24 in the quarter to keep the game out of hand.

Scott Padgett scored 4 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in his Lakers debut.

Consistently exceptional work Isaiah. The Milwaukee game sounds like a lot of fun.

One question: Will you do the trade for Ariza? It would make sense, as you wouldn't have to start Turiaf and it would correspond with real life.

I think you need to improve your front, but overall very nice, clean presentation. I haven't checked this one too much since there are just so many Laker dynasties, but you are doing a great job. One thing I'd suggest is to have more screen shots, and/or maybe just a tiny more detail in your recaps. Other than that this is solid. Keep up the good work! (Y)

BOSTON- Jason Kidd didn't score a lot of points tonight, and it was no problem. He finished with a double-double of a team-high 15 points and 12 assists to lead the undermanned Los Angeles Lakers to a surprising win over the Boston Celtics, 100-93.

Six players scored in double figures for the Lakers, which pulled away in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter in what was a very tightly contested game.

However, not all was good for the purple and gold. Maurice Evans will be lost for two weeks with an arm injured, joining an already packed injured list. He scored 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting.

Ray Allen lit up the scoreboard and scorched LA for 42 points, and most of his looks were wide open. Kevin Garnett was also an unstoppable force with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Paul Pierce was held to 13 points, and has been averaging 11 on the season.

Jordan Farmar scored 12 points as he gave Los Angeles the lead for good with over 3 minutes left, and later fed Kwame Brown for a layup which extended the lead to 88-85. A Boston out-of-bounds infraction led to Kidd hitting two free throws with only 2:30 on the clock, and extended LA's lead to five. Allen scored on a jumper which cut the lead to three, but Farmar found Cook for a layup underneath with only 1:58 remaining.

A free throw by Farmar extended the lead to 96-87 with only 57.1 remaining, and Boston attempted its last gasp. A trey by Allen with 48 seconds to go cut the lead to six, and after Kidd split his charities, Gabe Pruitt hit a three-point play that cut the lead to four with 35.4 seconds left.

Vladimir Radmanovic split his free throws, giving Boston a little hope. However, on the ensuing play, blocked Paul Pierce's jump shot which with 15.9 seconds remaining which sealed the game. Farmar made two free throws to set the final score.

Cook scored 14 for LA, Radmanovic and Farmar had 12, and Kwame Brown put in 11 to go along with 13 rebounds.
