Kanye West's Graduation is currently beating 50 Cent's Curtis, but imo, both albums are lackluster compared to their previous efforts imo. 50 Cent was already slipping with "The Massacre" and Curtis further cements that. None of the songs on that album stands out and makes me wanna keep it repeated on Winamp like half of the stuff on "Get Rich Or Die Tryin" did. Smart marketing ploy to ignite a "rivalry" to try to boost album sales. It's definitely working for Kanye ATM.
Ever since I heard Eminem's "Re-Up" which had that 50 track called "You Don't Know", I was hooked. I've overplayed that song more than Riding Dirty, and I'm STILL overplaying that song after a half year of listening to it. (If you're a fan of rap and haven't heard it yet, do yourself a favour and check it out). "You Don't Know" basically set my expectations for further 50 Cent stuff, namely "Curtis", and I'm definitely disappointed.
As for Kanye? Never was a fan of him, never will. He's crappy lyrically imo, songs are too soft for my tastes, and the only reason that he's getting a sales edge over 50 is because he has a broader appeal in the general public, whereas 50 Cent's target a certain demographic.
Thoughts?
BTW for Moderators and Admins, I tried setting a poll for this topic, but upon clicking "Add Option" for the poll, it took me to "Post a new topic" so see if you can straighten that out. Thanks
