Sources that spoke with Sam Smith of the Chicago Tribune, say Jermaine O'Neal already has told the Pacers he wants to be traded to the Knicks and former Pacers coach and close friend Isiah Thomas.
If this goes down, I would be looking forward to seeing an Eddy Curry/Jermaine frontline. Eddy can score as well as any center in the league, but doesn't play defence nor rebound. Jermaine is one of the leagues best rebounders and defenders each year, but is also capable of 20+ PPG himself.
For Indiana, not so good. They will be getting a huge contract back to balance out the salaries and will probably be a very low level team until that contract expires and they can sign a good free agent (along with their draft picks). They are gonna either get Steve Francis or Stephon Marbury in this deal, most likely Steve in my opinion because he is almost worthless right now and hasn't been happy in New York.
Three things I am looking forward to if this goes down: The Eddy/Jermaine frontline as I said earlier, Danny Granger possibly breaking out in a big way and finally, though not likely, Steve Francis getting his game back in Indy.
