so I was curious about the biting nails so I went to gametrailers and looked at the 2k7 vids. As a Live player for 10 years, I must admit that 2k7 really impressed me. I liked the dunk animations (especially the dunks when they get fouled). THe tips were more realistic and I thought the animations were just better overall. Now without seeing too much footage of next-gen Live, I can't really say much except that 2k7 seemed like a fun NBA game to play. I mean the visual bonuses this game has including cheerleaders, mascots, and other people on the sidelines... they have all that in one game and they even the streetball mode.

I am tempted to pick up 2k7 now.

EDIT: just watched some current gen vids and looks like 2k7 has capitalized on the faults of EA Canada... I mean the presentation is amazing (the fans are great) and the NLSC has been wishlisting a halftime show for as long as I remember.

I see you got a thing for the cheerleaders :cheeky: Their crowd seem so much more live compared to Live 07. Live 07 crowd seem so dull and all the same wheras 2K7 crowd look more real and you even see people entering and leaving their seats. Back to the cheerleaders i read somewhere that they are so realistic that one of them kind of tripped off the court once  Can't remember where I read that though

Yea I know, http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/792/792369/vids_1.html , that is honestly the only current gen stuff I've seen.
Also here's the features list for Current-gen. Pretty dissapointing compared to next-gen. I was really looking forward to the improved post play, maybe they still have it to a lesser degree, but it's not on the current gen features list.

XBox & Playstation®2:
My NBA - Plays more like the real NBA than ever before with new player and team tendencies, updated camera perspectives and new animations.

Real NBA Coaching - Take control of the floor with improved coach settings, new team playbooks and on-the-fly substitutions.

Soundtrack - A Tribe Called Quest, Mos Def, Fabolous, E40, and many others. Production by Dan the Automator.

The Association™ - Take total control of the deepest franchise mode in the business now with multiplayer franchise, 3 team trading, progressive fatigue, and season awards races.

2K Sports Online Play - Go head-to-head and compete in leagues and tournaments against the best players on the planet.

V.I.P. System™ - After your game, save your friends’ profiles to compete when they’re not available! Learn their tendencies, moves, & logic for more heated battles. Get the upper hand in an online tournaments by downloading other players’ VIP profiles.

BTW even in those current gen videos, look how much more active the crowd is, they're on their feet clapping with their hands up. But besides that the gameplay looks almost identicle. The intro video is EXACTLY the same as last year, and some of the commentary is right from 2k6 too. I wasn't expecting a totally new game, but I thought at least they could record some new intro videos. I'm already tired of hearing "If you love the killer crossover the spin move and all the shake and bakes, this is the game to watch" from 2k6. But I guess it's still worth the money, 24/7 mode is out, which is good, that makes more room for something better, cause it sucked last year anyways. 3 team trades, multi player association, updated rosters, team tendencies, and a new game menu is definately worth 30 bucks. :D

SAME DUNK ANIMATIONS...SAME GRAPHICS...

I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT 2KSPORTS DIDN'T WORK ON THE CURRENT-GEN.

Shut up......

Eh... if the current-gen hasn't changed much, then I'll trade in 2k6 for 2k7 as it's a roster update-ish type thing. But Next-Gen is

Just to get some more people even more excited about this game heres another interview with one of the gameplay designers of NBA 2K7. Its nothing really exciting just saying what has already been said.

I played 2k7 tonight.

Postby [Q] on Sat Sep 23, 2006 4:20 pm

so we (at Circuit City) received a package on WEdnesday with a FULL RETAIL 360 VERSION of 2k7. I got to play it tonight and I was blown away by the presentation.

ok so I was playing my manager he was the Lakers and I was going to be Philly, but I wanted to see how good Brandon Roy was. (plus, I wanted to make the game fair so I picked a team as shitty as the Lakers  )
I thought it was interesting that 2k7 used Kevin Harlan & Kenny Smith (2 TNT guys) to counter Live's TNT presentation. So I spent the half of the first quarter trying to learn the buttons (I was so tempted to do juke moves with the right stick but wound up shooting). I couldn't really compare it to anything else because I have never played the 2k series (except I tried 2k1 WAAY back in the day) and never played Live on next-gen. But I thought it was a nice change from the frustrations of NBA Live.
First, the fast breaks were a little easier to manage and it looked more like a real NBA game than Live 06's PS2 fast breaks. Cheerleaders and the mascot were nice touches. Free throw shooting was weird (with the right stick) but I would've liked to have tried that more. I was REALLY impressed when they talked to Craig Sager (another TNT guy!) on the sidelines. THat's something I hadn't seen before in an NBA game.

Despite not being able to play a whole game and not knowing the buttons, it was still a really fun game to play. I'm really considering getting 2k7 (for the first time ever  ) but I will probably get Live 07 as well.

nah probably not... We weren't sent a copy of Live to put on display. Guess EA canada wasn't as proud of their work as 2k

NBA 2K7 Comparison Vids

Postby Little_Big_Man on Sun Sep 24, 2006 3:57 am

I've been playing NBA Live since the beginning. I've been playing it on PC since Live 98. I will forever play it on PC, but on the consoles the NBA 2K series is the ish! NBA 2K6 was leaps and bounds better on the 360. While I love the way Live looks and the new anti-skating mechanism I just fell in love with 2K's animations. I found links to these vids on another site, just wanted to share them here. It shows a comparison to how the signature shots look versus real life. Its really uncanny how realistic it looks. So why doesnt 2k Sell it on PC? If they brought that to the PC they would have way more sales.

That is exactly what I have been thinking and so many other people for ages now. Even if it was just the current-gen version of 2k7 or even 2k6 with updated rosters for pc I would be happy
