You know a person doesn't have a clue about they're talking about when they say that Calderon makes more threes than mid-range jumpers.
Calderon only has attempted 43 three pointers; 7 of them went in. I think that the reason why people associate Calderon with poor perimeter shooting is because of his lack of a legitimate three point shot.
He's certainly not a great mid-range shooter, but I'd rather have him develop that and utilize him from that area than actually shooting threes.
According to NBA sources, the Raptors are trying desperately to sign free-agent guard John Salmons as a replacement for James, who agreed yesterday to join the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Salmons, according to the sources, is weighing offers between the Raptors and Phoenix Suns and is expected to decide which team to sign with today when the NBA's moratorium on signings is finally lifted.
It's thought the Suns are offering a first-year salary of about $3.7 million (all figures U.S.) — all they can offer under the league's arcane salary cap rules — while Toronto can offer a much greater financial package to the 26-year-old guard.
