Well if he's playing behind Bosh, there isn't enough minuted for him. If he's playign behind Jeoy Graham, it won't take him long to take over. As much as I like Graham, he was probably the most inconsistent Raptor last year, only slightly more than Charlie and Calderon.

aside from Bargs, i would like to see Graham and Calderon develope. Calderon had a great start but for reasons, he was benched, deep, towards the end. When Calderon had the chance he was a great leader. He had close to double doubles every night. He needs to really work on his shot, just to a point where it's respetable.
As for Graham, i thin his time will come, but time is needed. I saw flashes of his potential and i like it. He's got a good jump shot, nice form and good rotation on the ball. He's obviously athletic, but he needs to use more of that.
The raptors now need to find a shooter, and a defender. I hear we are looking at Eddie House, and i hate the idea. He's like Mike James Jr. He's too one dimensional, and too short to play SG, and horrible at PG.
I don't like any of the FAs available. It'll be interesting how BC will do next.

I see Graham develope a bit. Don't look like he was confortable playing last season. Calderon is a good player, but needs to work on FT and shooting.
Mon Jul 10, 2006 10:37 am
yep calderon especially needs to work on his mid-range..heck, i think he gets more 3 pointers in than he does get mid range jumpers in...that goes the same with matt bonner(yes i know he is gone i just wanted to bring that up)
...i would actually like to see graham and bargnani rotate as the starting sf...if graham develops this summer

You know a person doesn't have a clue about they're talking about when they say that Calderon makes more threes than mid-range jumpers.
Calderon only has attempted 43 three pointers; 7 of them went in. I think that the reason why people associate Calderon with poor perimeter shooting is because of his lack of a legitimate three point shot.
He's certainly not a great mid-range shooter, but I'd rather have him develop that and utilize him from that area than actually shooting threes.

when i say hes bad at mid range jumpers, of course i want him to develop in that area....
anyways..i found this picture of roko ukic on getty images..
do you guys kno anythin about him? i checked the roster on raptors.com and he wasnt on it..but is he comming back from croatia?or is he even on the team now for the 06 07 season?
Mon Jul 10, 2006 11:33 am
IIRC from reading here and at The Star, I think he was supposed to come back this year, but it seems like he won't be back till next year.
Mon Jul 10, 2006 1:53 pm
Ukic was supposed to use this year and gain more experience but a lot of that time was spent recovering from the illness and on the bench. He was used during the playoffs of the euro league, but the results aren't that eye popping. At this point i think he should just come the NBA and learn. There is no point of putting him in europe and not get any play time. I don't care if he's gonna spent most of the time on the raptor bench if he has to, at least he's learning the NBA game.
From the news recently, i don't see any sign of him coming to the raptors though. If BC wanted him to come, BC would've put Ukic in the summer league. But the good thing is he's still young, and the raptors are still have few years before they become a contender in the east.

John Salmons anyone?
http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Conten ... 2654614282
According to NBA sources, the Raptors are trying desperately to sign free-agent guard John Salmons as a replacement for James, who agreed yesterday to join the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Salmons, according to the sources, is weighing offers between the Raptors and Phoenix Suns and is expected to decide which team to sign with today when the NBA's moratorium on signings is finally lifted.
It's thought the Suns are offering a first-year salary of about $3.7 million (all figures U.S.) — all they can offer under the league's arcane salary cap rules — while Toronto can offer a much greater financial package to the 26-year-old guard.
If Parker is coming to the Raptors, I don't view this acquisition as necessary, especially if Toronto gets into a bidding war over someone that isn't going to amount to anything better than a decent role player.

i really dont care about salmons...we will just be wasting our cap and really over someone who we dont need...we will just have to split bench time...because last season we had so many guards mike james cried everygame cause he wasnt getting enough minutes
Fri Jul 14, 2006 4:24 am
The Raptors can't really get anyone else since the big names are locked or unnecessary to their team. The only way we can use our money is to land decent role players that we can eventually get rid of. Besides, we still have a crapload of cap space.
Fri Jul 14, 2006 7:27 am
Yeah .. I don't know why we need John Salmons.
What we need now is a Centre to backup Rasho and replace Pape Sow.
Fri Jul 14, 2006 9:46 am
well i checked the raptors website and it said pape sow is now a pf instead of a c

If we sign Garbajosa, then he and Humphries will be the bench forward/centers who only have to fill the minutes that Bosh, Nesterovic and Bargnani don't play. With the addition of Salmons and Parker, Bargnani probably won't see as much playing time, and might be the first guy off the bench, and he'll be able to play in the frontcourt as well.
There won't be a true backup center, just a rotation of guys switching positions depending on who else is out there.

Salmons signing with Raptors is now official:

I like that we didn't really give up anything of value to get him, and he sounds liek he'll be a real asset off the bench, but it seems like they really overpaid.
Fri Jul 14, 2006 10:32 am
A 5 year 23 dollar deal doesn't sound too bad, but I don't see him proving his worth with Graham, Peterson and Parker playing similar positions.
The again, Salmons has been known to play a little point as well, which I think is great because he'd definitely be an upgrade over Barrett and he'd add some size to the backcourt.
I'm getting pretty hyped up about next year with all of these players coming in, although I still think the Raptors still need one more year to become a playoff team.

Toronto Raptors: Do The Hustle
I'm sure you Raps fans will love this.

.. idk what to say..its funny...and i never knew matt bonner was so energetic...isnt the bg song suposed to be the beyonce song? and howcome there is a chuckmire?
..and wtf is mo pete doin?
...

i honestly dont kno what to say

i'm loving this S&T with for Salmon's. I think he'll be good, and the $23million contract isn't that bad(it'll be better if there's a team option on the last year). A verstile player is never a bad thing. He can be the back up for PG SG and SF.
Another good thing from this deal is that he actually picked the raptors over ...... any team!!

Why do people still include Williams? He's done, gone, over with, whatever. I hate to see him go but he is not going to be playing in the NBA anymore or even if he does, hes going to blow ass.
Sat Jul 15, 2006 3:07 am
Bargnani is no center. And Williams over Martin or Barrett is not working since he simply is injured all the time.
