Korver wins it for Houston

Newcomer Kyle Korver has already made a big impact after 2 games.

Korver's long trey at the buzzer sealed a come-from-behind victory for Houston. In the first half, the Rockets couldn't handle Chris Bosh, and they went into the locker room down by 8. In the third, they handled him a little better, and a buzzer-beating three from Korver made it a seven-point game going into the 4th. Some scrappy defense from Sebastian Telfair and another Korver three tied the game at 86 with 20 seconds left. With the Rockets in the penalty, Telfair fouled Latrell Sprewell with 3.2 left. The Suns struggled from the charity stripe(16-26), and Spree made 1 of 2. The Rockets got the ball in to Korver, who shot a three - almost identical to the spot where he shot from in the third quarter at the buzzer - that rimmed around and finally dropped.

Rockets win wild one in Boston

Jeff Van Gundy took a risk, and it paid off.

With 55 seconds left and the Rockets behind by two, Van Gundy decided to tell his team not to foul. The ball was then stolen by Mike Dunleavy, who dribbled up and buried a three. The Rockets got the rebound at the other end, and buried the Celtics with free throws.

The difference in this game, was free throws, other than that it was almost even. The Rockets shot 13-15 from the charity stripe(.867), and the Celts shot 18-29(.679).

Steph versus Telfair should be a good one. Looks like cousins are going to face off. Starbury must feel shitty for playing in Portland right now.

Houston wins seesaw game

It seems like the Small Forward position has been clicking for the Rockets lately.

Last game, Mike Dunleavy led the way. Today, it was Ron Mercer.

Mercer erupted for 24 points in, by far, the best game of his career. The bench pretty much led the way for Houston in this game, with Tim Thomas also having a good game.

It seemed like every time Portland jumped out to a fairly big lead, Houston would come back and take the lead. The Rockets had a 4-point lead with 14.4 seconds left, but Stephon Marbury hit a three, then the Blazers quickly fouled. Mercer hit both free throws, and Steve Francis missed a last-gasp trey. Franchise was relatively quiet this game:

Minnesota makes huge comeback

The Houston Rockets started great, then faltered late. They had as big as a 10-point lead in the 4th quarter, then the Timberwolves made a huge comeback, led by Manu Ginobili. it seemed like he couldn't miss during that stretch. Sebastian Telfair sat early for foul trouble, and missed nearly the entire second half. Eric Snow played great in his absence, recording a double-double, only the second of the year for Houston. The first was by Ike Diogu.

"We played better than this against Utah" said disgruntled Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy, referring to the 108-97 loss vs. Uta, in which they were down by as many as 29. "Eric did a great job with Bassy on the bench, but he was our only playmaker today".

STAT, Rockets bounce back with win

The superstar who had been quiet all year finally exploded in Dallas.

Amarè Stoudemire dominated down on the block, tallying 44 points, the most by any Rocket this year in one game. He handled Shaq well, holding him to 13 points. Again, the Rockets started to fade a little bit lae, but then bounced back to stay ahead ad hold on for the victory. Sebastian Telfair also recorded a double-double.
