Bulls lose close game to New York 75-80

Postby pistons_rock on Thu May 11, 2006 12:27 am

NBA PRESEASON

CHICAGO 75 NEW YORK 80

Image
Scottie Pippen's Banner was raised before the Preseason Game against New York.

CHICAGO, IL (AP) - It was a emotional night at United Center last night as Scottie Pippen's number was retired and raised into the raftors of the building. There was not a dry eye in the whole house. "It was a great honor playing with Scottie," said former Bulls guard Michael Jordan. "we both dominated the court and it is great to see the credit he is getting for what he did."

With all the emotion in the building, the Bulls were able to pull off a win against the New York Knicks last night. Ben Gordon had a amazing night shooting over 60% from the field and over 45% from behind the arch.

In the 1st Quarter, New York put up a balanced attack by going inside against Tyson Chandler and getting him in early foul trouble. Eddy Curry had 13 for New York in the openning quarter while New York guards Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford combined for 19 points in the opening quarter. Chicago got off to a slow start but was able to recover with the sharp shooting of Ben Gordon to bring the Bulls within reaching distance of New York.

For the rest of the half, it was a totally different story. The Bulls came alive shooting 6-6 on Feild Goals along with Ben Gordon scoring 16 of his 38 in the 2nd Quarter. Even thought the Bulls made a huge effort in the 2nd Quarter, they found themselves down 48-46 at Half Time.

After Half Time, both teams brought every ounce of their defense holding eachother to under 30 points combined. Tyson was a beast picking up 5 Blocks alone in the 3rd Quarter.

Also, Ben Gordon kept up his sharp shooting and put the team on his back the whole 3rd Quarter and led them to a 5 point lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

Dispite Ben Gordon's 4th Quarter shooting troubles, the Bulls played their relentless defensive but still, found themselves in the middle of a 2 point battle with under 2 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately, Quinten Richardson hit 2 Threes Back-To-Back to give the Knicks a 4 point lead with 54.6 left in the game. The Bulls knew they had to do something or this game was over. They imbounded the ball to Ben Gordon who had shot well all night. He came down and hit a 3 pointer to make it a 74-73 game. From there on, the Knicks pulled away and picked up a victory.

Ben Gordon lead all scorers with 38 points. Followed by Knicks Guard Stephon Marburry with 19 and Jamal Crawford with 16.

BULLS MAKE SUPRIZE MOVE AND SIGN REGGIE MILLER

CHICAGO, IL (AP) - Today, Head Coach Scott Skiles announced that a Transaction had been made in the Franchise. Most of the people thought that it was a trade deal to bring Dallas Guard Devin Harris to Chicago, but Skiles proudly announced the signing of Legendary Guard Reggie Miller to a 2 Year Contract. Reggie Miller will wear the original number 31 for the Chicago Bulls.

Reggie's Firepower Powers Bulls-Chicago 69, Indiana 56

REGGIE'S FIREPOWER POWERS BULLS TO OVERTHROW PACERS

BULLS 69 - PACERS 56

Image
Reggie went 3-4 behind the 3-Point Arch

CHICAGO, IL (AP) - Reggie Miller made the Pacers feel like complete idiots for not re-signing him at the end of last year. Reggie, in playing against his former team, scored 14 points off the bench for the Bulls with Ben Gordon leading all scorers with 20 points.

From the begining, you could tell that the Bulls wanted to win this game for Reggie. The Bulls came out firing shooting 8 for 10 along with out-rebounding Indiana by 9 rebounds in the 1st Quarter. Ben Gordon scored 8 of his 20 points in the opening quarter going 4-4 from the field. Also, Bulls reserve Reggie Miller got into the swing of things "Chicago Style by going 2-2 from deep also.

By the end of the game, the Bulls had taken care of Indiana and let their reserves finish off the game. "We were able to put in our reserves and see what they can do for us in pressured situations. They were able to close out the game. It felt like our Starters were in the game the whole time and when it comes to Playoff time, we should really kick some (explative)," commented Bulls head coach Scott Skiles.

"I was really glad that our team performed the way we did against my former team to make it easier for me to come off the bench against my old team escpecially.," added Bulls Guard Reggie Miller. "We came out firing and if we want to have a good chance at going to The NBA Finals in June, we need to keep playing like we did tonight. Also, none of this would have happened if I didn't have such a wonder cast of players around me to make the transition from Indiana's style of play to Chicago's style of basketball."

BULLS ROLL OFF OPENING NIGHT AND IMPRESS NBA TO A 6-1 START

Image Image
Loul Deng has provided a boost for the Bulls in the beginning of the season. | Ben Gordon has led the team in scoring and is a canidate for MVP.

CHICAGO, IL (AP) - The Chicago Bulls have rolled off to an amazing start that has not been documented since the Jordan and Pippen Era. A big catalyst for the Bulls has been Ben Gordon averaging a team high 23.1 points per game along with help from Big Man Tyson Chandler who is averaging 16.3 points per game along with 11 rebounds a game. Kirk Hinrich has been giving up with ball more and more but has kept his scoring up and helped the team each night. The biggest suprise of the team is Rico Versetti from Mexico has stunned the eyes of everyone in the league as a rookie. "He is doing a solid job in the post along with grabbing rebounds and blacoking shots. We are going to look to him when we need some defense on the floor.," said the Bulls Vice President.

The Bulls have shown that their can lo longer be called the Baby Bulls anymore. If they keep up their hard work and skill, they will be a big threat come Playoff time. Their roster looks energized and looks to try to make a deep run into the Playoffs if the right circumstance comes along. Bulls Center, Tyson Chandler, has greatly improved from when he entered the league. Averaging 16.3 PPG. He has been a dominate force in the game and has made a great impact on the game. If he keeps on improving the way he has the past few years, he could, one day, become one of the NBA's Best All-Around Center.

More To Come!

Bulls Drop a Close Game in Detroit

Postby pistons_rock on Mon Jun 05, 2006 7:15 am

BULLS DROP CLOSE GAME TO NBA BEST DETROIT PISTONS

CHICAGO 70 DETROIT 73

Image

CHICAGO, IL (AP) - The Chicago Bulls played their toughest game of the season agaionst the League Best, Detroit Pistons and came up short in a great effort. Early in the game, everything looked like it was going Chicago's way as they opened up with a 12-2 run to open the game but Detroit came back and stayed within 3 points of Chicago before Detroit went on a 22-5 run throughout the end of the 1st Quarter and some of the 2nd Quarter.

After Halftime, the Bulls came out and tied the game many times trying to ware out the Detroit Pistons with their defence, but Detroit would take nothing of it by providing their all out defence that won Detroit their championship in 2004. at the end of the 3rd Quarter, the Bulls had kept up with Detroit and tied Detroit 51-51 at the end of the quarter.

Now it was time for Ben Gordon to go to work. Detroit had done a great job at defending Ben Gordon by holding him to only 2 points, but Gordon wanted none of that providing 10 points off the start of the Final Quarter opening up a 8 point lead with 3 minutes remaining in the game. But once again, Detroit answered back and pulled within 2 to make the score 68-70 with 55.4 seconds left in the game. Chicago wasted their possesion by turning it over with a shot clock violation.

Now Detroit had the chance to take the lead in the closing seconds of the game. Detroit came down and a trey was nailed home by Pistons Big Man Rasheed Wallace to give Detroit a 71-70 lead in the closing moments. Chicago once again turned over the ball and quickly fouled Pistons Guard, Chauncey Billups, who hit the pair of Free Throws to give Detroit a 73-70 lead with 9.3 seconds left in the game.

Chicago took a time out to get the ball past half court. They passed the ball into Reggie Miller who was startiong to get hot from behind the 3-Point Line. At the buzzer he fired it but it rimmed out to give Detroit the game 73-70 to give the Bulls only their second loss of the season. Reggie Miller and CHauncey Billups lead all scorers with 20 points followed by Pistons Center, Ben Wallace with 17 Points and 12 rebounds.

BULLS SETTLE RIVALRY HUSHING LAKERS

BULLS 90, LA LAKERS 79

Tyson Chandler slams it home against the Lakers

CHICAGO, IL (AP) - The Bulls proved themselves to their NBA Rival, Los Angeles Lakers with a dominate 90-79 win. In the begining of the game, the Lakers were able to keep up with the Bulls by balanced scoring from both Kobe Bryant and Smush Parker. Yet, the Bulls made their own counter attack with help from Ben Gordon who had 10 of his 30 points in the opening quarter. At the end of the 1st Quarter, both teams were tied at 27-27.

The 2nd Quarter was quite a different story. The Lakers started off the quarter with offense from mainly Kobe Bryant who added 15 of his 33 points in this quarter. The Bulls tried to make a jump at the Lakers and at the begining of the run, the Bulls had a rough time starting their offence, but after a few trips up and down the court, they were able to catch the Lakers and pull ahead for 4 point point lead at the end of the first half.

In the 2nd Half, the Bulls began to show signs that they did not want any more crap from Los Angeles going on a 10-2 run to start the Half. Ben Gordon and Reggie Miller both made their own scoring runs. Reggie added 11 of his 17 points in the 3rd Quarter also going 3-3 fro the 3 Point Line in that quarter.

By the end of the game, Scott Skiles just put in the whole Bench and let them get some Game Time. Then, the Lakers made a small surge in the final minutes of the game and pulled within 11 by the sound of the Final Horn of the game. Rookie stand out, Rico Vercetti had 4 points and 5 rebounds along with 3 blocks in his 4 minutes of play. The Bulls next game is in Cleveland against Lebron James' Caveliers. Game time is at 8:30.

Chicago Bulls Draft Central

CHICAGO BULLS DRAFT CENTRAL

MAKIN THE ROUNDS...AGAIN

CHICAGO, IL (AP) - After spending a good time flying around the world and looking at players that could best fit in with the Chicago Bulls. We scouted over 50 players hoping to find some very good players and what they could develop into for the future of this team. And with the Draft picks we have this year, these are the guys we are looking at.

Litterial Jacobs C 6'11" 278 lbs.
He has amazing defense and can shut down a shooter on a team. His offensive power is amazing. Early in the season, he had a 55 point game, but his defense is why we want him in Chicago. He plays the exact same the Dennis Rodman did when he played in Chicago but alot more under control. He conducts himself very well on and off the court and could be a great selection for the Bulls.

CHICAGO TAKES NO BULL FROM CLEVELAND STOMPING CAVS

CHICAGO 96 CLEVELAND 68

Ben Gordon slams it home over Cavs Big Man Zydrunas Ilgauskas during Saturday's Game.

CHICAGO, IL (AP) - Chicago showed that they were not going to take any crap from the Cleveland Caveliers on Saturday night ending CHicago's 3 Game losing Skid. At the beginning of the game, you could tell Chicago was in full control of the game. Early in the game, Tyson Chandler got in foul trouble leading Chicago to make some major adjustents in their lineup. They brought in Michael Sweetney who had not had much experience and the Center spot, but the way he played it, it seemed like he had played it his who career.

All of the game, Chicago showed their dominance owning the Cleveland Caveliers and holding the League's Best Scorer, Lebron James to only 13 points and all of his points coming in the 1st Quarter. Ben Gordon once again came up with a big night shooting coming up with 24 Points. Kirk Hinrich also had a great game scoring 20 Points and dishing out 5 assists.

We had a chance to catch up with Bulls Head Coach, Scott Skiles, after the game on their way into the Locker Room. "We have a great team this year. You cannot take away what these guys have Chemistry wise. The Locker Room has a new feeling beforer and after games with the feeling that no matter if they win or lose, they are gonna play as a team." said Scott Skiles.

The Bulls have a few days off for the next few days and it is rumored that Kirk Hinrich might have a spot on the 2006 East All-Star Team in Houston. More information will come as it is announced.

BULLS RELEASE BENCH POINT GUARD ROBERT LIVINGSTON

CHICAGO, IL (AP) - Today, Scott Skiles held a press conference announcing that the Chicago Bulls had released Robert Livingston from his spot on the team. "He just didn't do what we wanted him to do. We considered dropping him down to the D-League, but we wanted him to be with a team where he would fit in so we released him." Scott Skiles told reporters at the Press Conference.
