Cleveland @ Detroit; Preseason Game

(AP) Auburn Hills, MI - With a strong performance by their starting five, the Pistons defeat the rebuilding Cavaliers; 84-78. Tayshaun Prince contributed 29 points, 7 rebounds, and dished out 2 assists while "Mr. Bigshot" Chauncey Billups made 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Rasheed Wallace dominated the boards with 12 rebounds but was held to 5 points. On the other hand, Cleveland, who was without newly-acquired Dwight Howard (due to sprained ankle), led all throughout the game but didn't have the killer instinct to pull off a W. With 3 minutes left remaining, LeBron James fouled out. The pressure was on Emeka Okafor and Drew Gooden who started in place for the injured Howard. During the final seconds, Okafor had the chance to tie but missed the lay-up. "I was really nervous. Ben was behind me and Sheed was upfront. I didn't know what to do. It was my fault.", said the second-year star. Gooden had a pretty good game scoring 14 points and nabbing 12 rebounds. Ricky Davis' re-debut had him 11 points and 5 rebounds while LeBron James had a typical 20-6-6 night.

You should make Gooden do lay-ups in practice until he can't lift his arms anymore...
Anyways, hope you have more luck when the regular season starts (y)

We are gonna need a Practice Court for our Training Camp so until that is done, the season won't start. :P

Season Tipoff at Cleveland

November 1, 2005
Image Image
Portland @ Cleveland

(AP) Cleveland, OH - Dwight Howard finally got up tonight after having sprained his ankle throughout the preseason. Too bad he sprained it again. The Cavs lose their season-opener (at home) against Portland. The game was close until the 4th Quarter wherein during the last 5 minutes of the game, LeBron James fouled out. Howard, who was playing with injury took the task but fell short. Even with the sprained ankle, he still managed to get 21 points and grab 11 rebounds and held the Cavs for an overtime. Another debuting Cavalier, Emeka Okafor, had a powerful performance scoring 18 points and nabbing 14 rebounds. On the other hand, Portland's Zach Randolph scored 24 points and 10 rebounds while Juan Dixon exploded during the 4th scoring 24 points. Jarret Jack also proved to be a promising rookie for the Blazers getting 25 points on 9-15 shooting off the bench. The Trailblazers were without star Darius Miles who was nursing a leg injury sustained during the preseason.

Orlando Magic send:

PG Steve Francis

(Orlando Sentinel) Orlando, FL - The Orlando Magic have acquired forward Trevor Ariza and the expiring contract of guard Anfernee Hardaway from New York in exchange for guard Steve Francis, Assistant General Manager Otis Smith announced today. In addition, the team has waived forward Bo Outlaw.

“As an organization, you always look for ways to improve your team, both presently and in the future,” said Smith. “The moves we have made today and last week (Darko Milicic and Carlos Arroyo from Detroit) continue to build a solid foundation around our core players, such as Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson. In addition, this particular deal has allowed us to gain significant salary cap flexibility in the future.”

“The moves we have made during the last few days are geared to grow and improve our team,” said Magic Head Coach Brian Hill. “Trevor (Ariza) is a young, athletic small forward, who will fit in defensively with what we are trying to accomplish. I genuinely like Steve as a person and wish him nothing but the best.”

November 9, 2005

Cleveland @ Miami

(AP) Miami, FL - The season opener for the Miami didn't quite go as they had hoped. Dwyane Wade made two quick fouls on the opening minutes while Shaquille O'Neal wasn't on his groove. Cleveland's D was at its best as they forced the Heat to 32 turnovers though the Cavs only shot a dismal 35% Field Goal Percentage, 27% from 3 point range. LeBron James stacked the highlight reel with a dozen assists plus 22 points while newly-acquired Ricky Davis had 27 points to fuel up Cleveland's attack. Emeka Okafor had an off night scoring only 3 points but grabbing 10 rebounds over Shaq's 8-and-8. "It was pretty tough playing Shaq but it's the W that counts.", told the sophomore year player.
