Shing's Boston Celtics

Postby Shing on Wed Feb 08, 2006 9:19 pm

[ Disclaimer: For this Boston Celtics dynasty I have edited the league salary cap to $60million (which is around about average). I also use the NLSC06 Rosters with a few of my own edits such as Joe Johnson's avg down to 79, and Yao Ming's to 81. Also allowance for TJFord to dunk. Slight improvements to rookies Charlie Villanueva, Chris Paul and Channing Frye. I also completed the Artest-Stojakovic and Szczerbiak-Davis trades that've happened recently. ]

============================================================================================
Though I love the Celtics I can't help but feel underawed by their lineup. So with the 'cap' edited to $60m I was free to make some quick trades before the first game of the season.

Celtics shakeup the Lineup: 3 Trades in 2 Days!
The Celt's are over-endowed with shooting guards. With the entrance of Wally Szczerbiak (72) into SF and superstar Paul Pierce's (90) movement into the two-guard position as well as Tony Allen (71) and Gerald Green (69) on the bench as backup, trading for a big man seemed like the right idea.

Perennial mediocrity characterises the Celtics point guards; Marcus Banks (68), Dan Dickau (64) and Delonte West (67) and with a lack of any reserve small forwards managements talks with Phoenix made short work to bring in 6'6" 35 year old Jim Jackson as a reliable shooting backup to Wally Szczerbiak.

Amazingly enough a third trade was made the next day as Celtics and Timberwolves managements, closely tied through Kevin McHale's presence, fought out another trade that bolstered both teams appearances on paper. With highly rated power forward Eddie Griffin (74) on the Wolves bench and their desire for a starting small forward better than Dupree (58), the blockbuster trade of the year was made when the Celtics sent center Raef LaFrentz (74) and their unsettled superstar small forward Paul Pierce (90) to Minneapolis in exchange for their old shooting guard Ricky Davis (77) and former MVP power forward Kevin Garnett (97)!

Another trade attempt to send Al Jefferson to Miami for Alonzo Mourning was turned down.

[ That's all I have time to write just now, I will update with the opening fixture at Portland soon. ]

Now that I think about it, you should have traded Pierce and say Jefferson for Maggette and Livingston.Would be fun to play with those 2. Thats just my opinion

Yea definatley wouldnt..but he raised the cap rooms to $60M. THe Celtics are at like 48M and LAC is at 50M. You could do this:

Paul Pierce (13.84M) (90)
Al Jefferson (1.51M) (73)
Tony Allen (.97K) (71)

All togeather is 16.32M

FOR

Corey Maggette (6.72M) (83)
Shaun Livingston (3.26M) (71)
Zebraca (3.00M) (63)

All together is 13M

And you give them alittle bit more of an advantage on Player Ratings.

Before the dust had any time to settle from all those trades it's time for the first game of the season versus Portland in Boston.

Delonte starts over Dickau.

Screenshot (3): Faith well placed is reflected in Delonte West's shining 1st quarter performance whose 3 pointers along with Wally Szczerbiak's give Boston a 34-23 lead.

Portland Trailblazers (105)Image vs ImageBoston Celtics (124) [Box Score]
PotG: Kevin Garnett
Skill Level: All Star
Quarter Length: 9 mins

[ I controlled the Celtics for roughly half the action and I think I need to decrease the sliders for CPU steal ability after Delonte's bizarre 7 steals (and team 21 steals). ]
