Mr. Haso and Mr. Bickerstaff were both incredibly chocked over the news they got a couple of hours ago!

But first the good news... Charlotte Bobcats had a brilliant offseason! Latrell decided he has more to give in the world of basketball, he signed a two year contract with the Bobcats. Also Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Eddie Griffin, Emeka Okafor, Greg Buckner, Steven Hunter, Dajuan Wagner and Travis Outlaw resigned with the 'Cats, the biggest story being Zydrunas signing for 2 years, Eddie signing for a 4 year deal and Mek who signed the maximum of a 70, 6 year contract (really it was seven, :P Just play along  ).

Then the Haso magic kicked in once again! He started negotiations with the Dallas Mavericks as expected even though Latrell was back in the team; And a 3 team trade was accomplished!

The Bobcats send:
Joe Johnson 76, Greg Buckner 64,
Image Image

To Dallas for:
Jerry Stackhouse 85
Image

And:
Lorenzen Justice 69

To Denver for:
Andre Miller 65
Image

Justice for Miller was done for salary cap purposes only, the Bobcats reluctantly let him go...

The Newest 'Cats:

Matin's comments about the trade: "We were very happy to bring in these two players inte our organization. They are two experienced guys who can only help us building this team to a constant Championship threat. Jerry is just a perfect fir for us, he shoots the ball really well, he's really aggressive, a solid defender, he pribes himself on his defense to fuel his offense, and he's one of the best in the league at getting to the rim and operate. He just a terrific allround player. Andre provides us with a strong combo-guard with lots of experience, he can put in big minutes night in and night out, he will be a key factor for us off the bench."

The team was looking marvelous and everything was going great for the upcoming season... but then the chocking news hit the staff... Mr. Haso and Mr. Bickerstaff were both incredibly chocked over the news they got a couple of hours ago. The economics department of the team has screwed up every payment from last season including revenues and trip costs, this puts the Bobcats in serious debt...

In a statement earlier that evening David Stern announced that the board had ruled Charlotte must act on this now; in conclusion they had to release 5 of their players  !!! Then stuck with a 10-man roster for the rest of the season... Is it even a little bit possible to get through a season cleanly with only 10 guys? Here's what Bernie Bickerstaff said about it.

"Of course this will be an incredible test of endurance by the ten guys remaining in the team, but the worst thing of all is that we need to loose 5 guys, and all of these guys deserve to be here.

So the following players were released by the Bobcats:
Travis Outlaw 51, Dajuan Wagner 50, Steven Hunter 54, Marcel Higgs 47 and Jonathan Li 39

The remaining roster is now:
C- Samuel Dalembert 70
PF- Emeka Okafor 85
SF- Latrell Sprewell 66
SG- Jerry Stackhouse 85
PG- Dwayne Wade 94
6- Eddie Griffin 70
7- Andre Miller 65
8- Zydrunas Ilgauskas 65
9- Chris Milacic 61
10- Serge Newbill 59

This will without a doubt be the biggest test a basketball franchise has ever met. I really feel for the Champs in their hour of need. But just hang in there, and prey that you make it safely 'til next season!

Wow - that is quite an offseason move! Great trade to get stackhouse. I don't think you'll be too disappointed. And congrats on the championship. Can somebody say dynasty here?

Hey guys, just to clear things up, the having 10 man thing is not a choice I made to screw with the dynasty. There was just no Free Agents available for signing at k salaries...

So I'll just have to manage this season with ten guys. And so far so good right

Image Luck, in an unlucky situation

Well this whole ordeal has put alot of pressure on the defending champs. But there has been some luck in all this hassle. The good news for the Bobcats, exept for trading in Jerry and Andre of course is that they inked Mr.Smooth Latrell Sprewell to a two-year deal, keeping him next year to and with that a very legitimate title shot. But anyways I played some games that I thought I'd do quick recaps from:

Charlotte vs. Washington = 119-113

This game was intense, it took alot out of the guys, but now my stars are really steppin' up their game...!

Jerry was unstoppable the whole night. He did it all, he drove to the basket, he shot, played solid D, and the passes and steals was exquisite from him tonight. Jerry finished by getting season highs in three categories, points, assists and steals.

POG: Jerry Stackhouse 34 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists, 6 steals and 2 blocks

Both Okafor and Dalembert put up solid double-doubles 12p and 12r for Mek and 14p and 14r for Sam. Dwayne had 23 points, 9 assists and 7 steals. Spree had 11p, Griffin came off the bench with a solid 10 points.

Charlotte @ Los Angeles Clipps
This was the biggest win in franchise history: 121-74

The Bobcats toyed with the poor Clippers. A good hard fight between SG's Jerry Stackhouse and Corey Maggette though, which Stack came winning out of with another 30+ game, that's back to back for him now, in addition he once again came up big with dishes, he had 8... And once again deserved and got the POG!

Flash and Spree had 25 and 18 points in their efforts.
Sam and Mek had their 3:rd straight dd (double-double)

Charlotte vs. Indiana = 116-115
Noe this was a thriller, it wasn't decided until the clock showed 1.8 seconds left, then two free throws from Jerry Stackhouse sealed the win for the 'Cats!

Stack and Wade once again came up huge! Stack had 29 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds. But Wade was more active tonight and took home the POG with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 8 steals and 7 assists.

Sam and Mek are still dd machines, constantly dominating the boards and they both score very well at the moment.

The I faced the Rockets @ Houston... unfortunately that one was a double OT loss = 135-136

Stack had a chance to finish the game off with 0.8 to go, but he missed the shot, even so he once again had a super game with 32 points and 7 assists, Wade had 23 but also put in a career high 11 steals and season high 12 assists, huge double-double for Dwayne... And still dd from both Sam and Mek. 14 points for Spree.

This game the bench came up big however, Andre Miller especially, he had 21 points and 6 assists off the bench, and Eddie Griffin and Zydrunas Ilgauskas both had 11 and 7 rebs.

So now the 10-man Bobcats hold an impressive record of 8-1
But the real question is, for how long can they avoid injury, and keep playing this kind of basketball being this shorthanded?

Thanks Kalid, appreciate the support, the Indiana win was really hard to get, just because they fouled Stack on a jumpshot I was able to knock them down and get the win... :)

hey Matin! Good stuff. Glad to see the acquisition of Stack is helping the team. Weird to see that you can't get another couple of guys for cheap. Wait till the other teams drop players, then you can pick them up in case of injury. Keep on trucking.
