Have you ever thought about Leandro Barbosa from Phoenix? Hes not a bad player and could fit in quite well in your team, then there is always Nick Van Exel for Portland....

KOBE'S CAREER NIGHT ENDS IN LOSS

Sacramento Kings 118 @ Los Angeles Lakers 110

Los Angeles, Nov 27 - Kobe Bryant scored a career high 60 points as the Lakers lost in a tight game to Sacramento. The Kings got 32 points and 6 steals from Bobby Jackson as they forced Los Angeles to commit 23 turnovers, 15 in the first half, and ran away with the game with 3 minutes to play.

The Kings came out gunning as they didn't miss a shot for half of the first quarter. Jumping out to a 12-1 lead early, Kobe started scoring and scored 15 first quarter points but recieved little to no help from teammates.

The Lakers came out of the break with a bit more intensity and kept up with the kings while Bryant had his most productive quarter of the game with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. His perfromance was highlighted with two three poiint plays and a windmill jam over Mike Bibby.

The third quarter was Los Angeles' time to try and come back and that's what happened. Despite Chris Webber's 10 points in 5 minutes, Kobe Bryant once again led the team and mounted a comeback and then fell short at the end of the period when Sacramento took the opportunity of Bryant's absence to rebuild their margin.

Los Angeles couldn't prevent their third straight loss after coming very close on a Caron Butler jumpshot which cut the margin to 2. But Bobby Jackson hit two layups and Brad Miller convetrted a three point play. Kobe returned to the action with 4:23 remaining and scored a three point shot off a Vlade Divac screen and the Lakers edged a little bit closer. But the lakers failed to keep the momentum going their way as they committed 3 straight turnovers which resulted in Sacramento baskets.

Kobe Bryant's final scoreline of 60 points on 22 for 41 form the field and 14 for 16 from the charity stripe puts him up to first on the points list for all NBA players. His 30.5 ppg, 6 rpg, 7 apg and 2.7 spg have him as a favourite for the MVP trophy this season. However, Laker fans like magic Johnson are disappointed.

"We want the team to win. The team comes before Kobe," Magic said. GM Sit stated in response, "Kobe is a great player. I think it's more of a situation where we still need to know each other. As I have said before wait for All-star weekend because after that break we will be a better team!"

Sacramento's Chris Webber praised Kobe for keeping his squad in the game, "The Lakers had no hope if it weren't for him (Kobe) but that's only my opinion."

WoW 60 points for kobe!!!

But you still lost!! Where was Odom??
I think maybe half the reason why Jackson scored 32 points was coz forward Luke Walton was guarding him!
*cough* Atkins *cough* Trade *cough*
Must of been a great game to play!
Nice win over the Hornets, i see Odom was a big lift in his return.
Only 30 by kobe WTF!! lol

Nice update Sit (Y)

FORMER TEAMMATES NAMED PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

Image
ABOVE: KOBE BRYANT WAS THE NBA'S NOVEMBER PLAYER OF THE MONTH

NBA.com

Nov 1 - Former teammates Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'neal were seperarated because of their egos. It seems like both are doing just fine without each other.

After slow starts for both players, Bryant and O'neal have shot up to the top of the League's elite and have been awarded with the first player of the month award handed out this season.

Western Conference player of the month Bryant leading the League in scoring (30.0), first in steals (2.67) and ninth in assists (6.9) also added 5.9 rebounds a game and is helping his team tremendously as they learn their new system. Bryant has been crucial for the Lakers as the only consistent performer on the squad. He is getting to the line more than any other player in the league with 25 more attempts than the player in second and his 47% Field goal percentage has helped him forge himself into the NBA's MVP candidate pool.

Eastern Conference player of the month Shaquille O'neal is ranked 4th in scoring (25.8), 1st in rebounds (13.9) and 4th in blocked shots (2.38). After getting off to a slow start with averages of 22 and 8, O'neal has had a couple of huge games to go under his belt as he tries to build momentum in his 'MVP' race against Kobe Bryant.

Both of the stars' teams are at 8-8 but as off their play in the last half of November, things could change. The two players meet on Dec 25 in a very much anticipated match-up in LA.

In other awards, Emeka Okafor of the Charlotte Bobcats won Eastern Got Milk? Rookie of the month honors with stats of 17 ppg,12 rpg and 2 bpg. Robert Swift of Seattle averaged 6 ppg and 8 rpg to claim Western Got Milk? Rookie of the Month.

Other Candidates for NBA Player of the Month: Jason Kidd, NJ Vince Carter, TOR Rashard Lewis, SEA Kevin Garnett, MIN Michael Redd, MIL Peja Stojakavic, SAC Tim Duncan, SA Antoine Walker, ATL Kirk Hinrich, CHI

LAKERS SURVIVE WARRIORS LAST MINUTE RUN

Golden State 95 @ Los Angeles Lakers 97

Image
ABOVE: Kobe Bryant (8) scored last night's game winner

Los Angeles, Dec 4 - The Los Angeles Lakers survived a last minute run by the Golden State Warrriors and watched on as Kobe Bryant saved and won the game for the struggling team. Bryant scored the game winner with 4.9 seconds left and sent the STAPLES crowd into hysteria.

After leading for most of the final quarter, the Lakers allowed Mike Dunleavy and Jason Richardson score 8 straight points in 2 minutes to lead Golden State 3 points in front. With 56.7 second remaining, Kobe Bryant came off a screen from Vlade Divac and drew a foul from the double team on his three point shot. Bryant scored 3 of his perfect 13 free throw attempts and the Lakers' Vlade Divac came up big with a block on the defensive end. With both teams locked at 95-95, Lamar Odom missed a jumper with 36.5 seconds remaining.

Jason Richardson was rushed into a jumper on the left elbow above the key and the Lakers called a timeout. After the Lakers went back out, Bryant went to work trying to get past his defender. He passed the ball into Brian Grant who hit him with the rock at the top of the key. Bryant made the shot past three defenders to put his team up 97-95.

Bryant's 42 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists led a balanced attack which witnessed four Lakers in double figures. The game was highlighted by two alley-oops from Bryant to Brian Grant which electrified the STAPLES center midway through the game. Bryant's three consecutive three point plays caused a buzz to stir throughout the arena. Bryant turned up the heat to the contest with his 15 fourth quarter points. He recieved contributions from Grant (15), Odom (13) and Divac (13) on the scoing end while the trio's combined 29 rebounds helped the Lakers build their 49-39 rebounding edge.

The Warrior's Mike Dunleavy was unstoppable scoring on 11-18 shooting but fatigue forced him to sit out for long periods. His teammate, Jason Richardson could not stand in for him as Kobe Bryant did a stellar job limiting Richardson to 5-14 and 25 minutes of court time. "Kobe forced me into 5 fouls and had me sit down when it counted most for us (Team)," Richardson said after the game.

The game was closely contested until the Lakers had a 11-2 run midway through the third. Coach Rudy Tomjanovic was happy about his team's progress, "We are starting to get better," he said.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

NOTES: Amid trade rumours, F Lamar Odom shot horribly from the field connecting on only 6 shots from 20... Brian Grant's two alley-oops from Bryant were his first two dunks of the season... Luke Walton was quiet on the stat sheet but the Lakers are very happy on his development as the team's point guard...

I could also try to get Abdur-Rahim, Austin Chroshere (For money reasons), Kwame Brown... oh Eddy Curry is good option too

Possible trades:

Lamar (73), Jones (58), Slava (55) FOR Eddy (66), Antonio Davis (63) and Pike (48)

Lamar (73), Jones (58) FOR Artest (72), Chroshere (58)

Lamar (73), Slava (55), Jones (58) FOR Mourning (70), Best and E Williams, Nets

i really want to see a bryant-odom duo but if you really want to trade him i say either go for curry or brown.

Here my view:
Getting Curry will give your a center in the future, you can motivate him to show his real potentials.

Also goes with Kwame Brown though it will be more challenging with Brown.

dont like theartest trade and about the nets one, if its a salary related trade then its okey. if not then its sucks to see odom goes by getting this guy.

The Curry one is good cause Antonio Davis loses his 12M contract after 2 seasons, Grant ends his a season later... however, I still need to resign Eddy Curry next offseason

The Artest one gives me a defensive stopper and 8M contract from chroshere which ends this season...

The Nets one was just to get Zo... I also considered trying to get jerry Stackhouse cause I would prefer to play with him....

And I just wanna make my dynasty more exciting.. lol

KOBE LEADS LAKERS TO UGLY WIN

Phoenix Suns 90 @ Los Angeles Lakers 98

Image
ABOVE: KOBE DOES A DOUBLE-PUMP FAKE 360

Los Angeles, Dec 9 - Kobe Bryant scored 32 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out 8 dimes to lead his Lakers to their second straight win. The Suns were up 80-75 at the third quarter break until both teams came out to play a very sluggish fourth period. The Lakers won the game by outscoring the Suns 23-10 but only on 28% shooting while the Suns shot 26% from the field. The game was decided on free throws with the Lakers making 12 in the fourth quarter.

The Lakers came out of the locker room unprepared for a 22 point first half from Quentin Richardson which left Los Angeles down by double digits at the half. However, this all changed as Kobe Bryant focused his best lock down defence to limit Q to 2 points in the second half on 0-8 shooting. The Lakers just didn't have the best night as Lamar Odom was limited to one minute in the second half after picking up his fifth foul in the second and then jumping off the bench with LA down by 5 to foul out in the final period. "I just couldn't find my game tonight," said Odom who picked up 12 points on 5-11 shooting and 6 rebounds in a limited 15 minutes.

Vlade Divac who scored 14 points and 11 rebounds had 2 crucial blocks in the final three minutes of the game while Chris Mihm also grabbed 4 offensive rebounds on Kobe Bryant misses. Bryant missed 5 shots before hitting three in a row as he slowly started to deteriate due to his fatigue. Bryant was a healthy 60% from the field at the start of the fourth but came out to shoot a lowly 20% but made up with 6 free throws in the dying stages of the game to have a total of 12 fourth quarter points.

Amare Stoudamire who led the Suns in the paint dominated inside with 25 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Three of his blocks were against the tired Kobe Bryant in the last quater. "We had the game in our rreach but we let ourselves down by missing important shots." Two of those shots were layups which were blocked by Vlade Divac.

Steve Nash who had 14 points and 8 assists missed a jumper with 4:32 left in the fourth as LA scored the next three jumpshots to stretch an 86-84 lead in the hometeam's favour. Los Angeles then used up time and with 1:04 left, the Lakers were winning 92-88 and the Suns sent Kobe Bryant to the free throw line for the rest of the night.

Richardson who was disappointed he couldn't keep the hot hand with which he scored five three point baskets in the first half ran to the side of the court and screamed at Jack Nicholson who was jeering at him. "I really wanted to punch that man (Nicholson) in the face but seeing how Ron Artest was fined a lot for that last month, I couldn't lose the money."

The defining moment of the game was when the Q made back-to-back threes to have the Suns at 42-25 early in the second period. Bryant then stripped Nash on the next play and completed an exciting Jordanesque dunk which helped turn the game around from there. The Lakers then played 'catch the Suns' for the rest of the game before tying it in the fourth.

"That was a great dunk there!" a sideline reporter exclaimed, "We got pics of Kobe in the air from all directions!"

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

NOTES: The incident between the Pacers and Pistons has been settled by the NBA with both parties agreeing to pay ridiculous fines instead of missing players for games, however the civil lawsuits against Jermaine O'neal and Ron Artest are still on going... The Laker's lopsided fourth quater has been the best one this season... Kobe has complained of a sore arm which fans saw an effect it had on his play as the game started to wind down. Bryant's two missed dunks were uncharacteristic as bryant played the full 48 minutes of this game... Lamar Odom deals have died down as F Karl Malone returned to training last week...

RETURN OF THE... MAILMAN?

Source: ESPN.com

Marc Stein
Dec 9

Image

Karl Malone returned to practise with the Los Angeles Lakers yesterday.

Bad move? I think it is!

Karl Malone is ancient and everyone thinks he will make a good contribution to this Lakers squad. I think it's more than likely he will help this 50% squad but the problem is that...

"For once Karl- think for yourself!" At his age, he should be retired (Same for Mr Kevin Willis) and if he wants a ring, don't count on getting one in LA because we have to learn that the Lakers are in rebuilding and Malone will need to play for someone else if he wants the hardware. So what if he doesn't want the ring? What if he wants that scoring title? That is even less likely going to happen because everyone knows Kobe is the man. And Lamar Odom who is second to him, only averages 12-15 shots a night. How would Karl, third string at best be able to get enough shots to average 18 a game?

It's just not possible!

And why is he still in LA? I don't know. But this is a no-brainer- Karl should retire before he ends up dead on the court and we don't want that happening.

If you're still a fan of the mailman or a fan for Los Angeles, put this date into your diary. December 25, Karl Malone may play and he may not. But he definately will by January and that's when we will be placing bets on how long he's going to survive.

No disrespect but face it Karl, you're too old. Let the young guns have a go!

LAKERS AND LEAGUE ROUNDUP

yahoo.com

12/12/2004

Image

Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom combined for 55 of the Lakers' 106 points and recieved help from Brian Grant, Luke Walton and Devean George to blow out the Clippers on the Clippers' 'home' court.

The Lakers were just too accurate from outside in the second and third quarters as the team scored 8 of their 9 three point shots during a 14 minute period in between the two quarters. Unfortunately, Lamar Odom was injured with 1:32 left in the game and suffered a sprained finger which puts him out indefinately.

Corey Maggette and Elton Brand tried to help their team to victory with 24 and 19 repectively but Chris Kaman, C couldn't contribute by being limited to 5-13 from the field. The Lakers' flowing team game was living up to expectations as Odom, Bryant and Walton each had at least six assists each.

"We really let ourselves down tonight by trying to go 'solo' too many times," Kaman said, "Next time we play we will be ready." Mike Dunleavy Sr. said, "We didn't focus our defence on Kobe. After he made three three point shots in a row in the third quarter we knew we had lost our momentum."

Clippers' rookie Shaun Livingston was one of the brighter spots for the team tonight as he had 11 and 6. However, his final stat line didn't show the three plays he had against the Lakers in the fourth quarter. On thje first play, Livingston faked to his left and then pulled back for a 20 foot jumpshot as Kobe struggled to stay standing. Then Livingston stole the ball of Lamar Odom and completed a highlight dunk before backing down on Bryant on the other side of the court and launching a no-look pass to Elton Brand for a thunderous dunk.

Kobe Bryant on Livingston, "This kid (Livingston) has a lot of talent. Next Magic? He could be. He's got too much upside actually."

The Sixers at 5-14 are doing as bad as expansion Charlotte who are 5-12 and the Cavs are at 5-15. The New York Nknicks moved the highest by moving up 3 spots but overall, not many pwer shifts in this week's power rankings.
