this post on X sums it up:

Just trashed the sport pre 2000, and then got employed by the most historic franchise in the sport.
Poetic failure
He also made a snide remark when Joe Mazzulla mentioned going to coaching clinics so that he was always learning new things; ironic, as it's clear JJ has a few things to learn. Like a lot of people have been saying, he's always come across as incredibly pompous and arrogant, believing himself to be the smartest person in the room. Considering he wasn't close to being an All-Star as a pro and hasn't won anything at any level, it's undeserved ego. His tantrums in press conferences are embarrassing. In short, he deserves all the roasting, and more.
Not surprised about Redick's pompous attitude, considering he went to Duke. He was also talking smack about Larry Bird. Michael Cooper said he would lock JJ's azz up...FACTS!
We got a special treat this weekend with two Game 7s. I think the home team will prevail in both.
Three things have to happen in order for the Knicks to make it interesting against the Celtics - KAT has to be like Shaq, demand the ball, get his butt in the paint and go to work. As much as we love Jalen Brunson (already he's done more here that Carmelo Anthony), he has to tone down the iso stuff, move the ball and get everyone involved. And can we get SOMETHING from the bench???? Celtics in 5.
Congrats to Popp on a great career (despite inventing load management);
