this post on X sums it up:

Just trashed the sport pre 2000, and then got employed by the most historic franchise in the sport.
Poetic failure
He also made a snide remark when Joe Mazzulla mentioned going to coaching clinics so that he was always learning new things; ironic, as it's clear JJ has a few things to learn. Like a lot of people have been saying, he's always come across as incredibly pompous and arrogant, believing himself to be the smartest person in the room. Considering he wasn't close to being an All-Star as a pro and hasn't won anything at any level, it's undeserved ego. His tantrums in press conferences are embarrassing. In short, he deserves all the roasting, and more.

Nuggets/Clippers and Rockets/Warriors both going to a Game 7. Curry really struggling in the fourth quarter of Game 6 with that injured thumb.

Not surprised about Redick's pompous attitude, considering he went to Duke. He was also talking smack about Larry Bird. Michael Cooper said he would lock JJ's azz up...FACTS!
We got a special treat this weekend with two Game 7s. I think the home team will prevail in both.
Three things have to happen in order for the Knicks to make it interesting against the Celtics - KAT has to be like Shaq, demand the ball, get his butt in the paint and go to work. As much as we love Jalen Brunson (already he's done more here that Carmelo Anthony), he has to tone down the iso stuff, move the ball and get everyone involved. And can we get SOMETHING from the bench???? Celtics in 5.
Congrats to Popp on a great career (despite inventing load management);

I wish Pop could've gone out more on his own terms rather than being forced off the sidelines by ill health, but the important thing is that he does have good health moving forward, and it sounds like he's still going to be around and involved with the team in his role as president. One of the absolute best coaches in the history of the league and sport, for sure.

Crazy ending to the Cavs/Pacers game
Wed May 07, 2025 8:05 pm
Hailburton with the MJ-like response, taking the whole "overrated" vote from his peers personally.
Wed May 07, 2025 9:49 pm
Well this is what the league needs to bounce back players playing like superstars with a chip on their shoulders instead of all been buddy buddy's and taking things personal, caring about there "9 till 5's"
I'd honestly prefer to see the league drop the cup and there horrible courts and even the play in and return to caring about the season and job they do because just look at wbat happens when they put there mean mugs on and go to war, this has been the best start to the playoffs I can remember since it was traditional that the knicks all shaved there heads for the playoffs
Wed May 07, 2025 9:50 pm
Absolutely. Scrap the gimmicks and encourage competitive fire from opening night to the final buzzer of the NBA Finals. Tremendous heart and clutch shooting from Haliburton, definitely no judgement on my part if he took that dubious "honour" personally!

If i could I'd replace Adam Silver I honestly don't think he has the leagues integrity at heart it's all about money, the players are paid for to much money even on a losing team there getting a max deal, I miss the rivalries, knicks vs Bulls,Pacers and heat where players hated other teams... hell Jordan even disliked his own teammates lol
This is why I admire players like Gannis because they choose not to work out with players from other teams in the off-season so they don't loose that competitive edge.
Wed May 07, 2025 10:15 pm
I'm definitely no fan of Adam Silver. However, I'm guessing some of the issues are bigger than him, and we'd probably see similar problems under someone else. With that being said, if fresh leadership could lead to some positive changes, I certainly won't object!
Wed May 07, 2025 10:22 pm
I agree mate I think the league has backed themselves in to a corner with player salaries and they have to generate as much money as they can to now pay for everything and I think that takes away from the pureness of the game, in some ways it's a bit like 2k and there focus on the neighbourhood over the nba portion because the neighbourhood pays the bills.
Wed May 07, 2025 10:36 pm
Yeah it feels like a case of putting the toothpaste back in the tube at this point. Too much profit, players make huge money before they're even established as top tier talents in the league...it doesn't help. I don't know what the viable solution is, but I hope we can see more competitiveness and less gimmicks moving forward. I also hope the All-Star Game copping flak for having more advertising and non-basketball moments than actual on-court action will be a wakeup call.

I really wish I could find the soundbite of Larry Bird saying in the early 2000s "leave the game as you find it and it will be good for years"... or something like that and I think to save the league they need to stop handing out stupid money or at least hand out stupid money to winning teams ie making and winning the finals, conference finals etc
Thu May 08, 2025 12:53 am
Agreed, spot on sentiment from Larry Legend.
Thu May 08, 2025 1:11 am
I found the quote from Larry...
'Larry Bird's quote related to leaving the game how you found it is: "Keep the game the way you found it and it can go on for all generations to come." He said this in his acceptance speech for the NBA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019."
Adam Silver must of nipped bathroom when Bird said this lol
Thu May 08, 2025 1:17 am
"Loud and clear, Larry. More tournaments and awards!"
Thu May 08, 2025 1:24 am
Haha yeah!
The only changes I would make is reward winning like they door in English football, iam not sure how aussie league but let's say champions league the further you advance the more money the players get,I think if you could even think about returning the first round playoffs to best of 5 but to be fair this playoffs have been some of the best basketball I've seen since celtics vs Bulls in 09
Thu May 08, 2025 4:11 am
That's the issue, though. They're already getting so much money; can it truly be an incentive? Maybe something else has to bring back that sense of pride. I'd agree these Playoffs have been pretty good, though. I wish the regular season was more competitive like it used to be - the NBA Cup really hasn't had the impact it was supposed to in that regard - but if nothing else, I'm glad to see some good basketball and epic games in the postseason. Still a bit too much chucking from three, but as it comes back to haunt the teams doing that, maybe we'll see a shift in philosophy.
Thu May 08, 2025 6:13 am
I think what we need is a player to come out of college that truly dominants like Shaq, David Robinson, Dream, Ewing etc that is such a force on the block that teams say look at how much success there having playing the post that opens up the floor, the mid range, the cutters and that player doesn't shoot 3s doesn't jog up the floor but sprints and then gets back on D.
I think that's what will move the needle back the right way.
Thu May 08, 2025 11:42 am
Good point, I agree. It'll be tough with the way that youth basketball is coached these days, but that's how it'll have to happen.
Thu May 08, 2025 11:43 am
I decided to stay up and watch the knicks live, I questioned why I thought this was a good idea staying up till 2.30 am UK on Wednesday night but dammmm glad I got to watch the comeback victory now heading to NY up 2-0

Yeah it's a pipedream like you said the only players to stand out are wings, guards and basically just players who shoot the 3
Thu May 08, 2025 11:45 am
Worth it for sure. Excellent start to the series for the Knicks. Celtics once again misfiring from range.
Thu May 08, 2025 12:10 pm
https://www.basketballnetwork.net/lates ... for-leagueJoe Dumars is right, and it's one of the reasons why these playoffs are lit this year and I'm enjoying it. Let them play grown-man basketball!
If you told me at the beginning Boston & Cleveland would be down 0-2, I would have told you to put the pipe down. So far Joe Mazzulla's not looking good.
Denver's getting smoked right now, which I expected.

I've said it since we got Bridges but this squad reminds me so much of the 99 finals knicks with Houston (Bridges) and Spree (OG)
