!!ATTENTION!! This is very alarming for us modders - PLEASE CHECK

Mon Nov 19, 2018 4:22 pm

Good day to all especially admins here in our forum. This is caught my attention when I visited Moddingway and saw my works there. This brooqdes the stooge is stealing our works and making money out of it, though he cited the modder's name, but he didn't ask permission to re-upload or share the files.

I wonder how I can report them and what is the best solution to those cancers!

Admins - please help or advise.

Many thanks!

I’ve been reporting this to moddingway 4-5 times for the last month and didn’t get any answer, what leads me to believe that maybe they are doing it on purpose just to keep their web updated.

The worst thing is that the links don’t lead you to any file, just to a web of spam and sh1t.

Well, the worst part is that it's completely impossible to download from that dude. Ad links all the way. The download fails every time.

I´m tired reporting those thiefs. But the admins look to allow those activities there, so we can´t do anything.

That's very unfortunate, and understandably infuriating. I've had it happen with my own work at times over the years, so I can definitely sympathise. It's not the done thing, or at least it shouldn't be the done thing, in any modding community that prides itself on being cooperative and friendly with one another.

Unfortunately, there's not a lot that can be done if the admins over at ModdingWay aren't willing to take any action against it. It's outside my jurisdiction, and while I certainly condemn the practice, it's not my place to instruct other people how to run their sites or insist they run it my preference, any more than it would be right for them to do the same to me. We can blackball people here, we can speak out against it and continue to make reports as long as we have the time and willingness to do so, but that's about it.

We can only control what happens here in terms of enforcing community rules and standards. The situation sucks, but the apart from the above, about all I can suggest is to just keep doing what we're doing. The purpose of modding should be to improve the games and scratch a creative itch, not make money. Mod because you like doing it, not because you want money or recognition. No, it's not right what that person is doing, and it does sting, but there's not a lot that can be done. Modding already walks a fine line in terms of tinkering with and utilising someone else's intellectual property, so there's not a lot of recourse available to us.

Hard as it is, the only thing that can be done is to condemn it, call it out, and just focus on making great mods for yourself and other people in our community. Hopefully ModdingWay will take a stand against it if people continue to make reports, but if they don't, then they run the risk of cultivating a toxic community and alienating people here. That doesn't mean that we can't continue to be a talented and productive modding community doing great work.

Nobody really downloads from that clown... We've all seen his name and his downloads never work btw.

He's a clown and everyone sees him as a clown.

Yes indeed, Let's just wait for KARMA to hit them, in these days, KARMA is in digital form.

Thank you for your time reading my post sir and it's been an honor to read your comments and by that, I will be continuing doing what I am doing to improve the game.

God bless and more power to us sir!

It's about all we can do. Unfortunately, not every community feels the same way about giving credit where it's due. All we can do is look out for each other here.

Incidentally, I looked up the banlist, and brooqdes' account here was banned for uploading junk files to our Downloads section, as well as other people's work with their own advertising links. Definitely a history there.

Can you ban his IP that he used to log in here?

It probably would've been banned at the time, but if someone turns out to have a dynamic IP address then it doesn't do much except cause problems for other people who get caught out by it later down the line.
