He's wrong. The gameplay is better but the graphics in ESPN is better. ESPN is the better visual but Live has the better meat, the better gameplay.

gameplay actually looks great from what I saw (1st,3rd and 4th quarters)

The dunks look more natural, not the style, but the height on the jumps and the put down, I like that.

why defend a game like its your little brother?

Just because we've been playing it for 10 years? They owe nothing to us and we feel the urge to defend games.

I say, let the better game win. And for the complainers, let them complain about the games. heres what you do, dont respond and let the thread go down the list. its that easy.

Ill be playing the game thats the most enjoyable and realistic, game play is #1 on my list the fact that a game wont be a gamekiller is what holds me to continue to play it

Why would I go on a disscussion board only to ignore people who have an oppposite opinion as me and not try to defend and preach my opinion back? So everytime I run into someone with a different opinion we should all just ignore eachother and go our seperate ways? That isn't what I come onto the forums to do, maybe you do, but I don't.

 I know

...anyways, I'll watch it and give some impression, they should've had the CPU play itself instead, because some people just don't know how to play properly.

it was funny cause i think it was yesterday, maybe the day before i posted that i wish they would release a video of a full game uncut, and here we go. maybe i need to check my pc for some spyware....

lol anyway, everything looks great cept 2 things which i will mention in a min. it seems like alot of the little things have been fixed though some remain. 1 of the major things does look like it is finally fixed. though they said it before i had to see it with my own eyes and now i did, the speed cheat is gone. i like how you can actually hit a 3 when you are guarded(though i dont know the dif level). the dunks are nice and that yao 360 looked amazing. a few people already mentioned a couple problems like the commentary and yao moveing a bit too well. i have 2 problems to add of my own, maybe they only bug me, maybe not, but here they are....

1. minor one here but, the cpu waits til after you shoot your second free throw to sub a player. this bugs me as if you miss the comp calls a timeout just to sub. almost always you seem teams sub after the 1st freethrow so they should in live also.

2. this bugged me alot in 2004 and it bugs me again, when a team misses a shot sometimes instead of getting a rebound after the miss they go into a block animation and you actually block the rebound and get credit for a block to boot. this one bugs me alot more than number 1 and i really hoped it was fixed. there was several times in 2004 when i made the comp miss then went up for the board and instead of rebounding it my players actually blocked it, getting credit for it, but also hitting it towards the comp player, giveing them another chance to score.

overall i liked it and this vid makes me want the game even more. easily my second most antisipated game(gta being first) of the year. infact, since both launch in october i might not have time for the eq2 beta(big mmo fan here) but i guess thats the price i have to pay.

Well first of all, the computer actually does stuff, they use the moves, and they don't play like they're limited. You can also actually play in the middle of the arc [mid-range game :P] as opposed to last year.

In the first quarter, the sort of no look pass for the dunk was nice.

I like how the players do a running jump to catch high passes so they can keep their momentum instead of always turn around and stop.
The players also turn and do a quick spin after catching the ball, this is real nice because it helps fastbreaks, and that's what someone would do in real life.
I didn't like how Yao did a running jump to catch a pass though, first he doesn't really need to jump, and second he likely wouldn't do that in real life :?

Their as still some bad passing animations though, the one hand chucks aren't the greatest, but that can be lived with, but their are a few floated passes, it would be nice maybe if tapping pass was a floated pass, and holding a hard pass.
They also have a nice bounce pass into the post animation, I was feeling that, and I like how the post game animations are, very nice, and the hook shot looks good too.
The players also looked like they had different pass animations for when they were sprinting as opposed to when they were standing, that's good too. They need a one handed bounce pass animation though, kinda like a skip pass.
The only problem I had with the passes was that their were too many floated passes, it's fine to float a pass whenyou're feeding down low so you can go over top the defense, but players would also float passes to the perimeter :?
Also the pass that Nesterovic makes to Parker I think before the end of the half looks different, it's decent.
Their are a lot of new passes which is definately a good thing.

Again, the post up animations are excellent, and the post moves seem to be better too, did anyone see that fake by Nesterovic?

They also fixed the super quick inbounding, or the missed transition from the ball going out to getting inbounded.

The layups off the drive when their's a defender in the lane is nice, it's not so high percentage I guess you could say.

The dribbling animations look much better, it seems like their are more animations, and they flow much smoother. The collision animations also look a lot nice. The jumpstop doesn't cover near as much ground, and like they said, it's been toned down. Their doesn't seem to be any move you can "abuse", because I didn't notice too many tips in the game as some thought that could be too easy, their were like 2 the whole game. Also the stealing animation looks better too.
Really, everything looks smoother in comparison to last years game.

One thing I didn't like was that the lane was always too open, the defenders converged and stopped the penetration, but initially, the lane seems to be too open.

Also after a block, the defensive players, and even other offensive players have that little pause before they react still, or they're slow to react. That's not good, but that's probably the only other "big" problem I see.

The double team animation is also changed, actually looks like a double team, not the player being raped :P

In the 3rd quarter Yao does a quick release jumper out of the turnaround in the post up, looks much better than last years.
Also when Ginobili is harrasing Tmac for the ball, it looks like Tmac pushes him on the ground when he dives for the loose ball

Anyone think the guards were shooting like Corey Maggette?

Was that the computer using the pump fake? The comp took a fair amount of mid-range jumpers, I liked that a lot. You can also actually get open shots in the game, and the spacing is looking very nice.

McGrady kept doing the same two handed tomahawk except for like two times, but as long as he isn't doing stupid dunks during the game I'm happy, I didn't see any dunks in traffic really, just on the break, but the great thing is that they weren't lying, you can actually run the break now. The computer doesn't get magical speed on the break, and also the bounce back while dribbling is not evident, it looks like an actual step back not the defender doing some magic push on you.

lol, the computer caused a backcourt violation on the guy

The Spurs didn't go to Duncan enough, and when they did it looked like it worked decently most of the time, I'd like to see the computer going to a star like that down low almost every time. In 2004 if you played CPU vs CPU, with adjusted AI sliders for some things, you would see that the comp would go to good post players a lot, they'd wait for them to rotate and get in position, and then play inside out.

The timeout cut-scene is also nice, it's just a different thing, like they had Duncan pointing at the coach and saying something which was kinda cool.

The graphics look pretty good, and the faces look nice, if you had 2004 on a real good PC, you'd know that it looks really good on there, better than any other place, so if this isn't PC I'm excited to see how this would look on my comp.

From how slow the free throws were, I'd say he was playing in Starter or Rookie, so that's a good thing. The score was too high for 5 minutes quarters, 60-51, per 48 minutes, that's 144-122, that's like All-Star game scores. I'd say the difficulty has to do with that, and also that the guy never used the clock. I hope when it get's harder the computer makes it hard for you, and forces you to use the clock.

The offesive fouls were fine, the guy that was playing seemed to be the one screwing up in the area.

This really looks nothing like last years, the only similarity I witnessed is the commentary.

Lastly what is the guy playing this on, it looks pretty nice, is it on PC?

For "right out of the box" [Im guessing], the game plays very nicely.

That is all..........

I've seen the 1st q so far and it looks great.

I loved the pseudo no-look from TP to Bowen for the fast-break jam, and teh animation on T-Mac's 360. The post animations look great. Especially defence.

just watched all the clips, they're GREAT !!!

of course, there are still flaws and bugs in the game.
and the commentary is 90% the same as last year,
other than that it is very good !! (Y)

look at T-mac, he act like himself in the game.
anyone notice the cut-scene before "tip-off"?
T-mac passes the ball with one hand and the motion is the same as the REAL T-mac (IMO). In addition, his in-game moves are also very similar to his real game. Amazing !!

the other things is the no-look passes, there are many kinds of pass this year. Some of them are goods, some of them are not quite realistic (not necessary in the real life).

and look at how the player receive the ball in transition, it's awesome, that is what real players will do!!

Needless to say, other features are improved a lot, such as blocking, rebounding, dribbling, in-air collision, the sounds effect, etc.

one minor complaint is that Duncan is not that aggressive comparing to his real life.
And I think they didn't optimized the slider (for example, the CPU interception.)

I really really love this game !!!

One negative thing - there are still a lot of under-the-basket shots the clang from the bottom of the ring or (even worse) the bottom of the backboard. This should not happen.

Yea, the players should have different shot animations when they're under the rim like that, it seems to happen in every basketball game :(

that yao ming post move was sick reminded me of ole #23,the dunk explosion sound on the rim is gone finally
the only thing i was mad at is that they got the same ass play by play commentary from last year,i hope they update it in the final version

I watched the videos, and overall I'm pleased with how it looks so far. Graphics I'm happy with, most of the animations are thorough and really good. The two things that really bothered me in the game was this:

- The computer player pauses for one second after catching the ball, and the AI seems really stupid because they have no idea what to do on the court. I haven't seen very many smart plays. Hopefully that was on super-easy mode, because I'm looking forward to the smart and challenging AI that I've read about.
- Awkward shooting animation with Tony Parker. I think most players shooting style is fine, but Tony Parker has an awkward shot. It looks like he's double pumping in the air before releasing.

I would say that some of the passing looks kind of strange, but it's hard to say because of the quality of the videos. Other than that, this game looks more realistic than 2004 and really fun to play. I can't wait!

Good to see EA, you have developed. The first quarter ,when T-Mac slammed a 360, that was awesome! Also the player moves look quite authentic. Three-pointers are the best thing, the footwork is great.

they look great. sliding, passing, weird layup animations, and commentary still a problem, but toned down. everything else is great.

and no this game doesnt have the same gameplay as espn. while i'm a fan of both, they are nothing alike.

I really liked what I saw in the new videos, but there are some things that bother me like the constant one-handed passing. I know that the resolution was bad, but as far as the atmosphere, it looks a little dim and dull. Over the years, I have written EA Sports about the crowd, coaches, and bench players being too far away from the court. The empty space makes it seem like I'm playing in an empty gym. I just think that the arena should be very vibrant with color, energy, and sound. And where are the camera men along the baseline. I thought that NBA games were televised? Lol. I know most people don't really care about little things like that but it would just add more realism to the game.
