Significant Modding Update

Thu Oct 22, 2015 6:00 am

Greg and I are pleased to announce that in the next version of the tool, iffs will be read by the game externally, and importing will no longer be required. Just drop your files into the directory, and you're ready to go.

Stay tuned.

We want to make it clear that this is not Greg's work at all. All credit to this goes to Limnono.

Wow that's an insanely complex feat you guys have accomplished, and that's an understatement. Bravo.

Now we can finally move on from 2K14, I hope this year will be golden for modding.

Also, because of this progress, 3D editing is looking very likely.

There's a shit ton of things on the chinese forums. They've discovered a lot more stuff than we have. Did you contact him or did you just steal his code. I'm presuming you somehow contacted him first, right?

I say "a shit ton of stuff" I greatly over exaggerate :P

Wait does this mean we can load files on their own and not replace files, or does the game not know how to do that yet?

2k16 was the first 2k I ever purchased for console first.

Looks like I'm getting a second copy of it soon. You guys fucking rock. :bowdown2:

Yes. You just put them into a folder in the 2K16 directory and they load. This also means that you can edit files with the game open like 2K14, which will come in handy when we're editing headshapes.

Awesome news. Looking back at NBA Live modding, the custom art folder method worked out a lot better than importing into the .viv packages. Hopefully that's something that can be implemented into NBA 2K17 by default, but a tool that adds that functionality is a great innovation in the meantime. Good stuff! (Y)

Thats is great news, its kind of a pain to make edits when you gotta save the iff then close the game and import the archive. This will save alot of time

Thank you for the great work! When is it going to be released?
If I want to contribute and become a modder (improve the cyberfaces of those legends), what can I start with? :D
