The Lakers still wouldn't be throwing out the future since Wade's contract is going to come willingly at a short term 3 year deal. Imagine Okafor and Randle panning out to be the stars that they are supposed to become, the Lakers could emerge as a playoffs team right away possibly from year 1 or 2.
Wade's got reasons to be playing hardball at this stage, even if that meant leaving. Trust in Heat organization is now damaged. Date to decide 'opting in/out' is nearing, Wade means business this time. The Heat always wanted to take wait and see approach but Wade wants the instant commitment.
