Yes because they did so much better than him when they faced each other in the playoffs... oh wait...I forgot...he wasn't even in the playoffs.

First, you are REALLY overrating Kawhi. Put Kawhi on the Knicks last year with the same roster and same coach. The Knicks don't suddenly become a playoff team. In fact, they would lose a lot more games than they did with Melo.

That's speculative, you don't know how Knicks would fare with Leonard in them. In my opinion they would definitely be a better team defensively, his teammates would feel more like they play for a team and not playing so that one guy gets all the credit.

Sure, Kawhi is better defensively than Melo but Melo is better in nearly every other aspect. He is a much better shooter, better rebounder, and averaged more assists.

You're quick to point out stats when it helps you validate your point, but you ommit stats when it doesn't. Kawhi has 52.2 FG percentage and Carmelo Anthony has 45%. Carmelo has a slightly better 3pt percentage (40% vs 38%). How does that make him a better shooter, please explain it to me. Does shooting more shots during a game make you a better shooter?

He has 1 more assist and 2 more rebounds per game but bear in mind he plays 10 more minutes average per game than Leonard. I think we're all aware how Popovich shares playing time between starters and bench for various reason (players get less tired during the season, bench players feel more involved etc).

Kawhi's rating is at max an 85. Averaging 13 points a season doesn't get you a 90 rating when only 4 players have 90+ ratings.

Making PPG the ultimate factor to measure a player's worth... well, I don't even want to reply to that. It kind of makes me aware that I'm in a video game forum and not in a basketball forum.

Second, Dwyane Wade is old. He disappeared in the playoffs last season and doesn't have the athleticism he had in his prime. Max for him is probably mid-high 80s.

You know who else disappeard from the playoffs...Carmello Anthony. :) Lebron James also disappeared from the finals. Due to Kawhi.

Third, CP3 is the best PG in the league. Tony Parker is great, probably the 2nd best, but if CP3 doesn't get a rating above a 90 then TP doesn't either.

That's a valid point, but it goes down to personal opinion I think.

And finally, Paul George. He was pretty mediocre this season. Definitely not better than Melo. IMO his rating should be about the same as Kawhi's, maybe slightly higher.

Paul George is not as quick or as good a defender as Kawhi is.

Just so you know man, no hard feelings, I enjoy a good debate.

So you judge a player on whether he made the playoffs or not? Brian Scalabrine and Greg Oden played in the PLAYOFFS. Where are they? Did you see them play in the all-star break? Did you see them score 30+ more points?

I like kawhi's play because he was molded by a greatcoach but you're d***riding kawhi too much. He's decent but he's not yet the superstar caliber you want him to be. Yea he did well in the playoffa but if you look at the whole season last year he was not even top 5 or 10 in his position. Maybe in the future or in upcoming patches he will be rated 90+ but not today cuh..

That's BS! Man, if Leftos was in charge of rosters, Drummond be the best.

Kawhi Leonard isn't even in the top 10 in NBA tbh

So on the other thread i saw. Duncan is rated 90.

Re: Only 4 players with over 90 rating

Must admit that took me by surprise. Not that Duncan isn't still productive and a very skilled player, but he is on the downside of his career.

Agreed, I would have guessed 84-87.

As for that ridiculous Kawhi claim: he's 85

Don't worry, he was the only one pushing that idea

Saw the other post? Duncan is 90. So we have KD & Duncan. And LeBron. Chris Paul is the last?

It's all about those single stats not overall, It does have an effect obviously but i think it's good. Shame Lebron won't be on there... jk jk

I made that ridiculous - according to your infinte wisdom - claim as you said. I also made another ridiculous claim, that it had to be one of the Spurs for certain, since they will be ranked no 1 team.

Of course if I had said Duncan, instead of Kawhi, you'd have still called it ridiculous.

I still think that Kawhi should have the 90 and not Duncan, based on the way they play most recently, but I guess 2K took into consideration lifetime achievements as well.

Nah, Duncan would be only Spur that would actually make sense being "nominated" for 90+. He's great on both offense and defense. Big men were said to get a rating boost to keep them up to par with other classes. He's not exactly prone to injuries (thanks to Pop no doubt) and only concern is age.

I said that Kawhi being 90+ is ridiculous, but not that spurs wouldn't get one 90+ player. I did not think of Duncan right away, but I am not that surprised either.

Re: Only 4 players with over 90 rating

I think it should be noted that Duncan is a 90, not a 90+. Therefore he wouldn't qualify as one of the 4 players over 90. So you guys can continue to debate over whether it's CP3 or Melo.

Re: Only 4 players with over 90 rating

90+ means 90 and above, I'm pretty sure.

So yeah, it's confirmed that Duncan's overall is 90, not 90+.

They have said that there are only 4 players rated over 90.

Lol, It's the title of the thread you are reading right now.

It's a fair question though, which way they meant it: 90+, as in 90 and higher, or exclusively players over 90 (ie 91+). My guess is that it'd be the former, that seems less contrived.

The title is wrong. From the stream, if I recall correctly, it was 90 and above.

Yes, ok. It's very convenient to say that now after you alredy know what 2k chose.

He's great on both offense and defense.

Yes, he's the only Spurs player to be that

Big men were said to get a rating boost to keep them up to par with other classes.

Boost as in 90 boost?

He's not exactly prone to injuries

That's a 90 rating argument? Really? So you mean he is less prone to injuries than Kawhi?

(thanks to Pop no doubt) and only concern is age.

Yes, bingo.

I said that Kawhi being 90+ is ridiculous

Yes man. RI-DI-CU-LOUS. ABSOLUTELY INSANE. THE PERSON WHO CLAIMED THAT MUST BE OUT OF HIS MIND.

He got 85 ranking, that's only 5 points from 90 so not that far off, and realistically speaking if ratings were based on the latest performances of players he should be higher rated than Duncan since he should definitely have higher rankings in speed, jump, defense and long range shooting. But again... RI-DI-CU-LOUS

, but not that spurs wouldn't get one 90+ player.

Oh really? Let's refresh your memory a bit:

Kawhi is a good starter, but he just had his week of fame. That's it. He's nowhere near a 90+ rating.
KD and LBJ are 90+, there's no discussion about that. Melo might mike the list, same goes for CP3, maybe Howard (he might get rating boost in the new system). Rose might get reevaulated during fiba tournament. I don't think Harden is gonna make it and Kobe is getting too old and fragile. Spurs' stars aren't getting younger either. Other than that not many names come to my mind.

Yes, you were all for Spurs players getting one 90+ player.

I did not think of Duncan right away, but I am not that surprised either.

I would have considered it a travesty if not at least one Spurs player got a 90 rating, since they dominated everybody in every aspect of basketball and destroyed the teams of every "superstar" that got in their way. I would be ok with at least one of Parker, Ginobili, Kawhi and Duncan getting a 90+. I still think Kawhi should be the one getting it, but I can see how Duncan gets it, if the person giving out the ratings thought of overall life achievements too.
