Are you using the Vista/Windows 7 version, available in our Downloads section? You shouldn't have to install any additional components.

It's a bit hard to do much if you don't have administrator access. You'll probably have to address that problem before you can do anything else.

There's usually a default Administrator account that you can enable to fix things up and grant admin rights to your other user accounts. Utilities that allow you to make a boot CD to get in and reset passwords usually have a function to enable and disable accounts, so you may need to use one of them.

Of course it's legal. The default administrator account is there in Windows for troubleshooting/recovery purposes.

Here's one such utility:

And a list of some others:

On the website you gave it stated the word ''cracking''
Based on my knowledge cracking is illegal

Is it really legal?

And how to find the default administrator account

For the last time, it's legal. They're password recovery tools, which can be used to get back into Windows when you forget your password. They're not cracks. Talking about that stuff is against the rules, so as the webmaster/administrator I'm obviously not going to do that. It wouldn't set a very good example, after all.

The specific tool that I linked to before:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofth ... ntpwed.htm

Includes the option of activating disabled accounts, which the administrator account is by default. It's a matter of downloading the program, burning the .iso to a disc, using it to boot your computer and then following the prompts to activate the account. It may be a bit advanced for some users, so you may want to ask someone who knows a thing or two about fixing computers to help out with that.

If this is all sounding too advanced, you might just want to ask someone you know who's good with computers to help you activate the default administrator account, which you can use to give administrator access to your regular account through the Windows Control Panel.
