OK so I just want to throw this out there, I have a pc guy who owns a store and and pretty damn good at what he does so I will post my question to him on facebook and his response, can anyone confirm or deny his conclusion :?:

Hey bob wanted to ask you a question if you don't mind, do you know if they will be coming out with a video card to support the new CGI graphics that they are coming out with on the ps4 and the new xbox?

BOB:From what I understand, the general performance of the HD 7970M is expected to lie somewhere between the 7850 and 7870 desktop Radeon cards, which are already available.

I wouldn't say it will take a lot of time for the PC to surpass the PS4's and X1's performance. I would hazard a guess that the most expensive rig money can buy right now as far as PC goes, let alone in 5 months, will be above & beyond what the consoles can do. However, it's always been a matter of whether you could get the same performance and convenience for the same amount of money. And we won't be there for a while.

It's not that PC graphics can't match what the PS4 and X1 games have shown. It's that the performance of those consoles isn't in the mainstream PC right now, so PCs would struggle. Then again, having scalable engines is a magical thing that lets all PC users enjoy the games, just on different graphics settings.

Last time around, X360 and PS3 had clearly different architectures, purpose-built for gaming that couldn't be matched by the mainstream PC for a while. This time around, it seems like the new generation is more like a PC with a convenient gaming OS in a box that's small and cute enough to have in your living room. Plus exclusives and publisher deals.

However, we're already seeing next-gen games say they'll be releasing on PS4, X1 and PC, we already know even Sony allows developers to use DX11.1 to do graphics on the PS4, so my guess is that right now, PS4, X1 and PC development will be similar. It's all down to the publishers to decide when they want to break the next-gen engine exclusivity to the consoles, and bring the same games to PC. It will happen, and I think it will happen sooner than previous generations.

EDIT: I did some reading up. PS4's specs (which from what we know are now a bit above X1s) are similar to what you would get from a mid-range PC, today. Only difference remains that Sony's optimized DX API for that specific APU means devs can squeeze every bit of juice out of it without having to worry about thousands of different set-ups, plus code much "closer to the metal" than what Windows would allow. Remains to be seen how long that keeps devs getting better results per buck from the next-gen consoles compared to a PC, and how long until publishers decide to bring their games to the PC to "wow" gamers even more. We've seen it happen. After a few years, you'll see devs and publishers not be ashamed to say "look, our game looks better on a PC, but you have to have a PC that can make it look like that". Again, with all the information we have right now, that day, I would imagine, is coming sooner than it has in the past.

Thanks for the quick response Leftos, I am happy just hearing that it would be pretty close to the X1 graphics so if that is the case hopefully we will not be missing
out on much...thx again (Y)

And just to put the disclaimer out there: my opinions are my own and don't represent the opinions of those at 2K (and I'm not a 2K employee, per se, yet). Right now, if we're talking NBA 2K, I can only hope it will keep coming on the PC in the future iterations, and that it will soon be a next-gen port. But that's just my wishful thinking. You know I won't be able to affect those choices, but you know damn well I'm a PC gamer and advocate.

Mike Skolones, product manager for the PhysX SDK at NVIDIA:

We are excited to extend our PhysX and APEX technologies to Microsoft's Xbox One console. We look forward to the Xbox developer community taking advantage of PhysX and APEX along with Xbox One's processing power, programmability and next-generation features to design cutting-edge games that deliver an unparalleled and ultra-realistic experience.

PhysX is a technology developed by NVIDIA to allow game environments to be more realistic. It offers developers the ability to add higher quality and quantity destructible objects, make smoke and other particle-based fluids, and create life-like clothing to create more realism in a game.
looks it will be exclusive for xbox one i wonder will physics be a differnce the ps4

This game alone is tempting me to get a next gen console. PS4 seems the best choice for me because of many reasons (user changeable storage, and slightly faster components, cheaper, no worry about used-games and online requirements)

Time to see how much I can get for selling 360 + accessories + games.

I'm wondering if I should keep my 360 or sell it. Probably won't touch it much when I get a PS4.

If you're going to sell it, even though you wont have a console for 5 months, it should be now. It'll be cheaper than dust if you sell it after the ps4 and xbox1 come out.

Nvidia announced PhysX support for the PS4 way back in March.

Does 2K even use PhysX?

Don't think so. At least until 2K13 they didn't, games that use PhysX show the logo or have a copyright notice somewhere saying so.

Why do people keep calling these new consoles "Next-Gen" , "Next-Gen Graphics" Microsoft and Sony have shafted that word it does not mean what they, or everyone think it means. They are using tech that has been available to PC for a few years/months at best their new "tech" is not new at all please view the console specifications if you want to confirm it.

Also as for PC getting the 360/PS3 version that's just an insult.

It's the next generation of consoles, as in they're not part of the generation of consoles that we have currently. The name "next-gen" is perfectly valid, I don't think it means what you think it means. Next-gen doesn't mean next generation of technology; next-gen consoles don't need to have tech beyond what is available for PCs.

Leftos, Funny because the way you put it makes much more sense however the way the company puts it in my opinion seems weird.

it looks like they fixed the backboard and rim model and added the ad box thing behind the board (on next-gen anyway). The backstop model is still off though, they should use this for reference: http://www.spaldingequipment.com/filesi ... rtable.pdf

I honestly think it's due to the lack of tongue and bad texturing on the teeth, they should just put a mouth guard over them.

You're right JBulls. The teeth especially the top ones look bad. A mouth guard would definitely look better. I feel the mouth is to round/circle-ish and maybe just a tiny bit too wide. I'm contemplating on getting a PS4 or a Video Card upgrade. I want PS4 for games that will be next-gen exclusive for only the console for now. Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition are two I am going to purchase also. Problem is I played the previous games on PC so I wouldn't be able to use the save games I have. Wish 2K would have just decided to release the same game for PC.
