Not exactly the
Los Angeles Lakers planned to start their season as the
Houston Rockets stunned them in a 108-101 loss.
Rockets started on fire hitting their first 9 shots and outscoring the Lakers 32-20 to end the first quarter.
Kevin Martin scored 17 points in that quarter and finished the game with 28 points. The Rockets finished the first half leading 58-41, they shot 65% while the Lakers only shot 42% ending the half.
The Lakers are determined to win the game as they started the third quarter with a 15-4 run, leading the way is their star
Kobe Bryant. Bryant scored 15 points in the third to cut the Rockets lead to just 9 points entering the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter the Lakers tied the game thanks to their newly acquired player
Rip Hamilton. Hamilton scored all of his 8 points in the fourth. The game was still tied but
Ben Gordon hits a three pointer and the Rockets lead the game 102-101 with 1:40 left in the fourth.
Then all things went wrong for the Lakers as
Pau Gasol got fouled out after committing a charged against
Patrick Patterson and after Bryant intercepts the ball he tries a quick transition three pointer but misses badly with less than a minute left. The final blow was when
Delonte West tries to take a charge but instead Martin nails an and one and that pretty much ended the game.
Goran Dragic had 19 points and 8 assists, Gordon had 12 points off the bench while Patterson had a good all around game with 12 points, 6 boards and 5 steals.
Gasol had a perfect shooting night (11-11) and finished with 24 points and 4 blocks.
Lamar Odom had 13 points off the bench while
Andrew Bynum had 10 points who only played limited minutes due to a bruised heel. Both team finished with a 50% shooting, the Rockets outrebound the Lakers 37-20.
