The fans are giving Heat center Joel Anthony love with MVP chants, and his play has been important for Miami.
When he steps to the free throw line, the chants get louder and louder. On Monday night, he heard it come from teammate Zydrunas Ilgauskas in the locker room.
“M-V-P! M-V-P!”
When Ilgauskas chanted it as he walked into the locker room following Monday’s game, Anthony let out a big guffaw.
Heat fans have been chanting “MVP” whenever Anthony, LeBron James or Dwyane Wade comes to the free-throw line.
Anthony finished with four points, six rebounds and three blocks. His presence was felt more than just in the box score.
