The 2020 free agency is proving to be one of the most intriguing off-seasons in the last 10 years. The position that will be the focal point will be small forward. Any team looking propel themselves from first round fodder to contenders could very well do so in this position with the talent on sale in 2020. Here are 5 small forwards that stand out:
LeBron James
LeBron is still playing excellent basketball, but he's doing so on a team that keeps falling short. At age 35, he could give it away next season, but I think he'd be more likely to chase that ring he has yet to receive.
Carmelo Anthony
Even though his play has declined since joining the T-Wolves, Melo could still be a game changer for any team looking to make a move in the playoffs in 2021. Unlike LeBron though, he really has nothing left to prove, so he could opt to retire.
Kevin Durant
With his role decreasing by the day, Durant is still young enough to provide a high quality scorer for any team lacking. His offensive game is currently suffering in a system with J.R. Smith and with his large contract off the books this coming free agency, Denver could look to unload Durant in order to keep Perko.
Rudy Gay
He's been playing power forward for San Antonio, but he arguably has the best perimeter shot of all these guys mentioned. He's never really shaped up as a franchise player, but he could be an excellent second option for any team with a young star.
Michael Beasley
Not the biggest name on the list, but he could arguably make the biggest impact, as he has age on his side. Can play both forward positions competently and has one of the best mid-range shots in the league.
