Re: Losing hair. WTF should I do?

Fri Feb 04, 2011 12:05 pm

My hair started receding on both corners of the forehead when I was 22 I think. It's nothing major, and at least I'm not losing any around the back of the head, but it was still shocking to see when I shaved my head to a 12mm cut a couple of years ago. I hadn't done that for a few years and I looked at least 10-15 years older because of that... :?

Oh boy, maybe I should retain this long hair until I reach 40.

I think it has been proven that dudes that wear hats or have long hair loose it more quickly than the ones that shave their head regularly .

I hear healthy routine(which isn't actually hard to follow) for hair can grow hair back or prevent hair loss. I am going to try that for now. I will post the result.

It's probably only $50-$60/month in the US I'd say. This is Australia, they price gouge over here (N)

Other advice is not to use anti dandruff shampoo

I use to use stuff too. I've just heard there is a correlation. Just what I heard. Anti dandruff shampoo has some pretty potent stuff in it so it couldn't help.

I used Head & Shoulders for a couple of years & looking back, I don't think it helped matters (N)

Some random Googling:

And for shampoo in general:

Cool info. I never really bought Head & Shoulder shampoo regularly but I been using it for awhile till a few days ago since it came as a bonus freebie when I bought razors. (N)

I picked up Nizoral for the first time in my life today. Planning to use it once(or twice max) a week. This sorta will solve dandruff problem if you plan not to use dandruff shampoo I guess... as nizoral is a special anti-dandruff shampoo itself.

You might want to read this too, guys.
http://www.howtoall.com/Menshealthfiles ... rloss1.htm
It is usually recommended for people with dandruff to use Nizoral 1 or 2 times a week at the most, but people who want to maximise its potential to help stop hair loss and aid in regrowth, should really consider using it at least 3 times a week but no more than 4 times, any more that would be unnecessary.
......
......
......
To sum up, Nizoral might have a 3-pronged attack in fighting hair loss: sebum reduction, anti-DHT and anti-inflammation.

Yeah. Ur figure was exact. I went to London Drugs today, and it was $49.99 + 12%(frging HST!!!) tax. Didn't really look at the instructions or details as I was just price checking, but I guessed that was for the month of amount. Am still considering as I am trying to cut down living costs at the moment. ;=)

If it's just an M shape, then depending on the severity, no need to shave it all off just yet!

If you're going to go bald, you'll go bald. But I'd suggest limiting 2 things to prolong your hair loss as long as possible.
The first is stress. This can speed up eventual hair loss and should be reduced as much as possible. If you worry a lot, then you need to find a way to minimise this.
The second is having very high testosterone levels. If you wish to slow down your hair loss, you'll need to rid yourself of any ambition you have to becoming a champion weightlifter. Exercise by all means, but don't go mental in the weights room. I'm sure you can get your testosterone levels checked by your doctor.

But if genetically you're not meant to lose any more hair than you've already lost, then stress and weightlifting won't matter.

honestly you should take the advice of karl here

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7mjbm ... shortfilms

and not really give a damn. If someones judging you on you being bald, you're doing something wrong

My hair is rather thin on top and I'm guessing it's a variety of different things. I used to take acne medication called roaccutane and one of the known side effects to that was temporary/permanent hair thinning. In combination to this I also used to use head and shoulders, but found it was too brutal on my scalp (and getting that shit in your eyes isn't fun).

If I end up going bald, I'll shave my head at some point... right now though I'm going to live in denial and grow it as long as I can before it starts getting to Bill Bailey extremes

Yeah. You are exactly right. Stress is major cause in most baldings. Thanks for tips on weight lifting and stuff btw. Gonna stay away from heavy work out exercise routines.
