Melo to Chicago headlines trade deadline deals.

The Nuggets decided to pull the trigger on trading their franchise player Carmelo Anthony, shipping him alongside Roger Mason to the Chicago Bulls for Luol Deng and Joakim Noah.

The Bulls were reluctant to give up Noah, but after dealing Kirk Hinrich to the Mavericks for Kendrick Perkins, they decided to let the young forward go. Chicago instantly becomes one of the contenders in the East with their big three - Carmelo Anthony, Carlos Boozer and Derrick Rose.

With Carl Cruz and Kendrick Perkins rounding up the line-up, they have one of the best starting line-ups in the league.

The Nuggets wanted as much value as they could for Anthony and Chicago's offer seemed the best. New Orleans was believed to be interested in Anthony also.

Player stats :

Carmelo Anthony : 23.0 PPG, 9.9 RPG, 4.9 APG, 1.08 SPG, 1.38 BPG
Roger Mason : 0.9 PPG, 0.8 RPG, 1.0 APG, 0.13 SPG, 0.13 BPG

Luol Deng : 18.2 PPG, 8.0 RPG, 3.5 APG, 1.36 SPG, 0.95 BPG
Joakim Noah : 6.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.0 APG, 0.50 SPG, 1.09 BPG

Bulls get Perkins in separate deal with Dallas.

The Bulls first deal of the night was trading Kirk Hinrich to the Dallas Mavericks for Kendrick Perkins. This deal was to fill the void left by Joakim Noah, who was traded to the Nuggets just minutes later.

Perkins has been the sixth man in Dallas, but has a legitimate chance at starting with the Bulls. Kirk Hinrich has the same chance in Dallas, forcing Roddy Beaubois to the bench.

Player stats :

Kirk Hinrich : 9.7 PPG, 1.4 RPG, 2.7 APG, 0.86 SPG, 0.32 BPG

Kendrick Perkins : 9.3 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 1.3 APG, 0.83 SPG, 1.74 BPG

Projected Starting Line-ups :

DAL | Nowitzki | Gooden | Howard | Terry | Hinrich
CHI | Perkins | Boozer | Anthony | Cruz | Rose

J-Rich teams with LeBron in Cleveland for Gibson and Brown.

Jason Richardson finally got out of Phoenix, as he was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He will be able to start next alongside LeBron James.

The Suns keep collecting youth, acquiring Daniel Gibson and Derrick Brown. They now a completely re-built team and are destined to finish with the worst record in the league.

The Cavaliers also received Juan Dixon.

Player stats :

Jason Richardson : 7.1 PPG, 1.6 RPG, 1.7 APG, 0.53 SPG, 0.11 BPG
Juan Dixon : 3.4 PPG, 0.6 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.22 SPG, 0.00 BPG

Daniel Gibson : 6.2 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 2.3 APG, 0.68 SPG, 0.32 BPG
Derrick Brown : 1.4 PPG, 0.7 RPG, 0.4 APG, 0.00 SPG, 0.11 BPG

Projected Starting Line-ups :

PHX | Frye | Randolph | Azubuike | Barbosa | Ellis
CLE | Ilgauskas | Varejao | James | Richardson | Williams

Rubio heads to Boston for Tony Allen.

The Minnesota Timberwolves traded a PG for the third time this season, this time receiving Tony Allen from the Boston Celtics. Rubio should help Boston's situation, as they don't have a true back-up to Rajon Rondo.

The Timberwolves knew that not playing Rubio is non-beneficial to both parties and decided to give him a shot to play more time.

Player stats :

Tony Allen : 4.3 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 0.9 APG, 0.21 SPG, 0.16 BPG

Ricky Rubio : 3.5 PPG, 0.6 RPG, 1.6 APG, 0.25 SPG, 0.15 BPG

Projected Starting Line-ups :

MIN | Jefferson | Love | Brewer | Stevenson | Flynn
BOS | Marshall | Garnett | Pierce | Salmons | Rondo

Amir Johnson to Sacramento done, Duhon heads North.

The Kings pulled off a great deal just minutes before the deadline, acquiring Amir Johnson for Chris Duhon.

Both players were believed to be on trading blocks and not satisfied with their bench roles. Both have a legitimate shot at starting with their new teams.

Player stats :

Amir Johnson: 4.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 0.8 APG, 0.81 SPG, 0.75 BPG

Chris Duhon : 11.4 PPG, 2.4 RPG, 5.3 APG, 0.87 SPG, 0.22 BPG

Projected Starting Line-ups :

SAC | Hawes | Johnson | Nocioni | Martin | Evans
TOR | Bargnani | Beasley | Turkoglu | Stokes | Duhon

I hate these two deals for the Bulls, even though Melo's in Chi-town now....giving up Noah isn't good, replacing him with Perkins is even worse (N) :shake:

I'm glad the Bucks didn't make any moves. (Y) Is Melo the big news Curry spoke of?

Also, Sit is happy that no dirty Buck is joining him in NYC

Slightly better than not replacing him with a solid big at all but yeah, I was a little dismayed to see that too.

In my dynasty, Noah isn't what he is in real life. He is benched by Brad Miller (And now Nene and Kenyon Martin) and rating-wise, he loses to Perkins (75 to 78).

Sit - yeah. I thought about trading CP3 too, but with so many trades that I've done already, I thought it was too much.

great job on the behind-the-scenes stuff (Y) and glad Warrick's not going anywhere

Understood. God... Noah's stats are puke. In mine, he's doing better but hardly immune from being traded espec. since Biedrins produces just as well off the bench... btw, like Rubio backing up Rondo in Boston; hopefully that means good things for the C's

Warrick, Redd spoil Rubio's Boston debut
02/28/12 - Bucks (96) - Celtics (83)

    Image
Jennings steals the ball from Rubio.

Rajon Rondo went to foul Hakim Warrick's dunk, but injured his leg with 5 minutes left in the game and the score 80-78, Bucks ahead. The Bucks finished the game with a 16-5 run to win their 13th game this year.

Hakim Warrick followed up his 35-point effort with 25 points on 9-15 shooting from the field and a perfect 7-7 from the stripe. Michael Redd led the way through the first three quarters before settling down in the fourth. He finished with 22 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds.

Ricky Rubio came in for Rondo and scored the remaining 5 points for the Paul Pierce-less Celtics. He finished with 12 on 5-13 shooting. Kevin Garnett led the C's with 19 points and 11 boards, John Salmons had 17.

Warrick scored on 3 straight possessions for the Bucks in the middle of the fourth quarter and was about to dunk home another field goal, but Rajon Rondo fouled him hard. Unfortunately, Rondo fell on his leg and needed to be carted off the court. He was taken to the locker room, but no diagnosis was determined. He is going in for further tests tomorrow.

After that, Jennings's arch nemesis, Ricky Rubio came in. Jennings stole the ball two times from the Spaniard and fueled an 8-0 run. Boston called for a quick time-out. Rubio got an earful from coach Rivers and returned to the floor. He hit a quick three to narrow the lead to 6, but the Bucks were too much. James White scored his only field goal and Lub Mbah a Moute out-played Kevin Garnett twice and the Bucks had a 94-81 lead.

Warrick would hit 2 more free throws and Rubio scored an easy two with a second left to set the final score.

This wraps up February for the Bucks.

Behind the Public Eye - Part 3

"Rubio takes off his warm-up jersey and prepares to come in for Rondo, definitely gets his chance to play in his opener. Rondo is still down on the floor, getting ready to stand up, but it doesn't look good," Mike Breen was calling the Celtics-Bucks game. It was the rematch of the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals, when Boston advanced to the Finals in 6 games.
"Boston are best in the Atlantic division and second in the East, but with Paul Pierce out and Rondo still down, things won't be easy."
Rondo started to get up, with the crowd starting to applaud after a long silence. Brandon Jennings was clapping hard, then turned to his teammates :
"We got this now."
"Come on man, the guy could be seriously hurt," Bogut replied.
"No, not that. I hate to see a player go down, it's just that Ricardo comes in now. Spanish wonder my ass. I got him, it's personal."
Scott Skiles put in James White and Luc Mbah a Moute and they returned to the floor with Bogut, Warrick and Jennings.
Jennings walked towards Rubio, talking smack to the Spaniard :
"So, think you can beat me now with this team? I don't think so. Your ass is mine!"
"Sorry, are you homosexual?" Rubio replied, not really understanding Jennings.
"What the fuck? You callin me gay?"
"No senjor, I don't understand. Why my ass yours?"
"Just play, you dumb cunt."
Rubio brought the ball up court, Jennings all over him. He nearly forced a turnover, out Rubio was able to pass the ball to Dunleavy.
Jennings was in Rubio's face : "Not easy, huh?"
Rubio pretended not to listen to him and pushed Jennings away, fighting to get open. He missed a 3-point jumper and Bogut grabbed the board. Jennings brought the ball up against Rubio, crossed him over and passed it to Warrick, who dunked it with a foul. Jennings gave Warrick a quick high-five and then walked up towards Rubio.
"That's how you do it.. in the NBA. This isn't your weak-ass Euroleague anymore. I guess you wouldn't know, having sat on the bench the whole time."
"But last game I score twelve, you score eleven. Fuckbag."
Jennings was stunned for a moment.
"That's right, I know English good."
"Oh you're so gonna pay for that, you dumb fuck."
Rubio brought the ball up, Jennings stripped him and went in for the easy dunk. Rubio was getting frustrated with Jennings and the not-so-cheerful TD Garden crowd. He tried to make a behind-the-back dribble, but Jennings anticipated in and stole it again. He brought the ball up James White scored his only field goal in the fast break with a big dunk. Celtics inbounded the ball to Rubio, he took a couple of dribbled and started hearing loud boo's from the crowd and Doc Rivers called for a time-out.
Jennings walked past Rubio and said :
"All-Defensive team, bitch!"
