LOS ANGELES -- Actress Brittany Murphy died after being rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles Sunday morning, a hospital spokeswoman has confirmed.
Sally Stewart of Cedars told KTLA that Murphy died there at 10:04 a.m. Meanwhile, Los Angeles police detectives were en route to Murphy's home in order to conduct a "death investigation," Officer Norma Eisenman told KTLA.
A Los Angeles city fire official confirmed to KTLA that crews responded to a home in the 1800 block of Rising Glen Road, in the city hills above West Hollywood, at 8 a.m. and that someone there was transported to a hospital. The Los Angeles Times reports that Murphy lived on that block and indicates the rescue response there was related to her death.
TMZ broke the news that someone at a home listed as belonging to her husband dialed 911 about 8 a.m. and the 32-year-old was subsequently taken to Cedars. She reportedly died in full cardiac arrest.
Caught me by surprise. RIP.
