I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but my take is this...
Live 2004 is a good game... There is a mid-range game there. You just have to know how to play it. Mid-range jumpers are not a neccesary as you can attack the hoop, but I've found out that going inside isn't the key to the heavens portals anymore as it has always been in Live games. That has been one of the more major complaints and worries in the game.
Live 2000 is the final prdoduct of the original Live team, but it too has it's faults. Everyone of these games have their faults and unrealistic stuff.
I'd say if you want a good gameplay you should go for Live 2004, but if you basically just simulate almost all the time you should go with Live 2000. Live 2000 has the best franchise/dynasty mode in all of the Live games.

I haven't played Live 2000 for a while, but I like 04 better. 00 is just too boring, I think 04 has a good balance of fast break and half court.

NBA Live 2000 has stood the test of time, but I believe it has been surpassed by NBA Live 2004. For the few complaints I have about Dynasty Mode, I haven't enjoyed any other NBA Live as much as I enjoy the current game.
But, it's a matter of opinion and preference. Aspects of the game that I like may not be appealing to other people.

What I'm dying to see is when they will take the dynasty mode to the next level... We basically got nothing regarding dynasty this year. Trading draft picks and training sessions and dynasty extras, but that's it. I don't call that much of an improvement if you ask me.
They need to make it alive... Breathe some fresh air into it... Some sort of a feedback loop that will reward for playing well and penalize when playing poorly. I want the players to have some sort of a personality cause I'm done watching these excel sheet players already. Been there, done that.
I want to see Shaq come into office and say that Kobe is acting up again. And try to resolve another LA drama. I want to see players like Nick Van Exel complaining about the team doing poorly and wanting to be traded like he did in Denver... I want to see real money changing hands in the game. I want to try to fill out the stadium with hungry fans wanting to see my new imports from around the league... Or a new hot rookie ala BronBron. I want to see the adorsement deals, the television deals etc. I want to see the owners saying that we can't afford to pay that guy that much so he has to go or be traded... I really want to see a game where things can go wrong in a big way and you just have to stick through with it, but they can go so right as well... I want to see a game where the things you do outside the actual gameplay really matter, cause in real life a general manager has nothing to do with how players act on the court (playing the game), but has everything to do with how the players are ready for the game...
I've always said that Live has a great gameplay and it doesn't need that much improving, but the dynasty mode has potential to go very far. I've never played Madden, but that games dynasty mode certainly sounds great...
Basket ball is my sport, and I want to get as great as possible basket ball game as anyone can provide.
I want it all...

Hell no... I want to be able to play the game... I was just saying that if you are a GM of a frachise you do almost everything else except play the game so these things should matter more. And the newest championship manager is way too complex and too detailed to my liking. 01/02 was great, but it didn't have the graphical situational stuff aka visuals of a chance.
But championship manager is the kind of in the right direction. Have you ever played NHL 2004's dynasty mode? That would be most welcome to NBA as well. The improvements and the salary stuff and maximum cap stuff. That would be just sweet. But I would like to get a some sort of a player-GM feedback stuff into the game cause all the players are at the moment are numbers on a piece of paper (or a dbf file). And nothing more.
That would be the most important thing... To get some interaction between the team and the GM (you) and some sort of a morale factor too. Morale to show how happy the players are or something... Everyone gets along and T-Mac would be happy to come off the bench behind Kobe or a team could have three over 80 overalled players in a single position and none of them would complain about his playing time which is really just unrealistic.
I want to see more of those pop-up windows that Live 2004 has during simulation... I want to see when players get injured, I want to see when players recover from those injuries. I want to see when a player gets too fatigued to play.
NHL 2003 had a great feature... When an AI contacted you about a deal there was no hurry to accept or decline it. You could simply not reply and do the research and math etc. and maybe even play a few games before deciding on the matter... I would really like to see a screen for trade proposals. So maybe show a pop-up window for that with options to either continue or goto trade proposal. And you could exit the trade proposal leaving it open to think about it and see all the relevant information about it. And attached to this feature I'd really like to see a trading block to which you could put some players to see if they get any intrest from anyone, and then you could select the best deal in your mind for you and not just declining one in hopes that other offers will be coming your way.
NHL 2003 has had the ultimately best UI in a EASports game I've ever played and they should copy it to all their games... It was just perfect... I couldn't wish for a better UI. Especially the direction the Live UI is taking it would be wise to take a step back and redesign the whole thing to make it more usable. It just sucks...

I've just noticed a "funny" thing : if you want to play a dynasty (or a franchise) with the Charlotte Bobcats, you can put aside your Live 2004 to reinstall Live 2000
