2k9 or 2k10 on single core computers?

Some reviews say that 2k10 has similar hardware requirements as 2k9. I can run 2k10 but only on low settings. It looks bad and there are also some glitches. I also own 2k9 but don't want to install it for nothing...that's why I ask. Will 2k9 run better on my computer or not?

My system: PIV 3.2 ghz, WinXP SP3, 2.5 GB Ram, ATI Radeon HD 3650 1 GB.

with the highest Graphicsettings, NBA2K10 needs approximley 7-10 % more power to run smooth compared to NBA2K9.

It should run a little better. You still won't get to put player detail to ultra high until you get a dual core cpu, though. That extra core is needed to run the jersey cloth simulations while keeping a steady frame rate.

and i can run the game on everything high (players medium, anti aliasing off) and get 25 fps.. currently Im playing on medium settings and have 40fps

25 FPS? Way too slow for me. I play on low settings and have 68 FPS. I am not going to play a game below 50 FPS.

i found this on 2k sports..it was supposed to be for a dual core..but i tried it anyway...and let me tell you what i run
Msi not really sure of specifics...i have 1.65 ghz which really sucks..i dont even have a 4 processor and i only have a radion HD 2400
Video card which isn't great at all...and when i ran these settings i put everything on high except for msaa so don't mess with that..when i did this my game runs as smooth as it did when all setting's were on low...try it for your self...hope this help's

25fps is not playable at all... 40 fps is minimum for playing the game...

2k9 runs better then 2k10... i have pentium D 2.66ghz dual core, 2gb ram, 9400gt and i only get 23fps on medium-low settings in 2k10 which is disaster...

People have used alot of different numbers for that part. I think some of it is placebo because we really don't know what it does. Speculation leaves me to assume that you can multithread the "cloth logic" or the threads for animated jerseys, or that the numbers are supposed to refer to your cpu cores, or even your videocard's gpu. The default is 1 for thread_0, and the rest at -1, but try anything from 0-2 for thread_1 and see if anything is different.

Last year I tried enabling all the threads with 1, or 1,2,1,2. The only thing I saw was a slightly slower framerate(since I was already running at 60 fps without changing it) and some worse looking jersey animations in some places. On the contrary, many people used wither 1,2 or even 0,1 and it improved the frame rate. Most of those people had AMD dual core processors.

Or you can just turn it off by making all -1

2K10 takes more ressources than 2K9

and to me that tweak aint placebo...i gained 10 fps at least in P4 at 3.2 hyperthreading 2 cores

i remember the patch for 2k9 helped me a lot with the fps... i got more fps after installing the patch... i hope the same case will be with 2k10 pc patch...

It's trying to verify the "increased fps" that's being raved about. Fraps cares less if it helps multi-threading, it just measures fps, which we are interested to know if there's really an effect or increase.
Set the settings in the config to the default (unedited), run fraps or any other software that takes fps, play the game, take a screenshot, exit the game.
Next, set the settings in the config to the one that all of you say that will increase fps, run fraps or similar software, play the game, take a screenshot.
That easy.

I'm sure everyone wants to see (and are hoping) that the 'tweak' actually works. Doing the test and showing proof is one way to really show that it actually works.

I could care less about post count or others' post count, if they post something and can back it up, I'm convinced whether that person has only one post or if he calls me an pwned bitch.

If you or the others have time to post statements that the tweak works, or in your case reply to someone who has 9000 posts, then I guess all of you have the time to verify and show proof that it acutally works.

there is really no need to back it up or question it ...just try yourself...and if u notice nothing...leave it as is... and if u do...U CAN CREATE some evidence=proof....= make a video with no cut showing u edit the file and running 2 fraps test...then U can call that evidence....on YOUR PC !

Hey shadowgrin i tried to do a video for you to show you up close.... however i was using hyper cam and it was making the game run slow....i then tried to use fraps and that made the game run slow...sorry brother i tried.

Even if fraps was slowing your game down, having all the in-game graphical settings equal/same with and without the tweak, the 'improvement' or difference will show in the fps measurement.

True, that's (a screenshot) not enough but fraps does have a function where it can measure the avg. fps
Backing up the visual with that numerical data can be sufficient to dismiss it as merely a placebo effect and a high probability that it does work.

Agree, but gathering such evidence/proof/data can show which settings are optimal since most of us in one way or another have different system specs.
Also to know which specific setting/change/value has a greater effect in improving fps as there seems to be some confusion on what values to put there (1? 2? 3? 4?).

What's PIV ??

Pentium 4, basically a 6 year old processor.

My Computer is weak.

Windows XP SP3
2GB of RAM
2.3GHz Dual Core Processor 4400+
NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT(inno3d) 1Gb

But I play the game with resolution of 1024*768.
ALL settings are HIGH. No LAGS or HANGS happens. AMAZING!
