You think I think I am a retard? And I usually feel happy and sad at the same time.

Who doesn't?

His Blank Check review should be out tomorrow. I quite liked that movie as a kid but everything's fair game and I'm interested to see his take on it...or more likely, how he'll tear it apart.

Got around to checking out the Blank Check review today, looking back on the movie today I'd have to say his review was pretty spot on. It's amazing how mean spirited his father is and it certainly was a cookie-cutter kids movie. It was appealing enough at the time though, but it doesn't stand the test of time.

It's a rare NC review that doesn't go about twenty minutes (or more) these days.

Gene Wilder Willy wonka versus Johnny Depp/Burton Charlie. Fantastic episode because i love both of those movies..but the shortcomings of each are very well pointed out and shown in NC's signature style.

Seems to be a fair few people disagreeing with him but I thought he made a good case. I think both are fine movies too and they both adhere to the book in their own way but I'd give the edge to the original as the better telling of the story.

The rest of the people on his site are pretty horrible. I've watched almost all of them.
I liked the Vanilla ice review. Although I'm quite sure that he didn't dislike Ice so much when he was most popular.

Possibly, though it wouldn't altogether surprise me if he didn't. But however he felt about Vanilla Ice all those years ago, his critique of the movie now was spot on.

How do you figure that? They are both producing a farcical comedy series, after all.

First off, it's quite a common reason why people have feelings of discontentment. It's usually on a subconcious level though. I doubt there's many who even realise it's part of why they feel mad sometimes.

You call it farcical, but their reviews are based on how they feel or felt about it though. So that is sincere. They might try to make it more comical by going over the top a bit, but have you seen some people with adhd and stuff like that? They act about the same as the NC does in his show.
Back to being angry for no longer being able to be a kid. The subject matter is an idication. They mosty talk about stuff they watched as a kid. And then the sarcasm. Lots of small, different things adding up to a theory I guess.

I'm not saying it's not possible, but I don't see why everything has to be an indication of psychological or emotional issues. I realise that such issues can manifest themselves in a variety of ways, but I don't think it's the case here, because they're playing characters (as evident by outtakes and other videos that show them out of character) and playing up certain characteristics for comic effect. They've discovered a style of comedy and a topic for satire that resonates with people, that being pop culture from Generation Y's childhood, that weren't so good looking back on them...or even at the time, for that matter. It's a skewed take on nostalgia which usually has us looking back on things with rose coloured glasses, even if they sucked. Sure, it might be how they really feel about those movies, TV shows and whatever, but I highly doubt it consumes them, or that they are consumed by a desire to be kids again or are angry that they can't.

When an ordinary explanation will suffice, why go for an extraordinary one? If that's what you want to believe then fair enough, but to me that's a stretch when the Nostalgia Critic and Nostalgia Chick are characters of Doug Walker and Lindsay Ellis respectively, created and exaggerated for comic effect.

I think that Doug and Lindsey are more themselves when they are playing their nostalgia characters. I mean most people aren't who they really want to be in everyday life. These two found a way to tap into their inner selves by making videos about shit that bugs them. If more people did similar things, you'd have less people going crazy, turning abusive or jumping off buildings. You call it comedy, I call it therapy.

I used to be an emotional robot, not understanding emotions at all. Like Data from startrek, it was sort of my mission/obsession to become more human. I guess it's now on autopilot or something. I also want to try to find ways to heal those that need help without medication.

And I sometimes wish my brain would stop telling me all this off the wall shit.

Al not every comment or action is a definition of who you are. You can't take one isolated part of a person's life and say that makes them any sort of condition or quality. No 2 situations are ever exactly alike.

I dont disagree with your idea to help those with problems in order to keep them off medications. Fantastic idea. But your take on things is going to make that a difficult task.

Agreed on both counts. Throwing medication at people with psychological and emotional problems is not a solution, but in the case of Doug Walker and Lindsay Ellis I don't think the brief glimpse we get of their lives - the extent of which are videos produced for comedic purposes - is not enough to make an informed psychological diagnosis.

I think Tobey wants to be famous and win oscars.
Doesn't everyone want to be spiderman?

Fair enough Dr. Gonzo. Sometimes people do things because they think they have to do them instead of doing them because they want to. But even then it is an indication of deeper meaning. It is my idea that everything happens for a reason when it comes to human behaviour. Even simple mannerisms or what words you choose to use or not use can be very telling as to what kind of person you are and what emotional state one is in.
Things worth doing are never easy.

I am only using the videos they make to add information to my already substantial research on human beings. As far as Doug and Lindsey go, I'd say they are healtier than most people from an emotional perspective. They understand their feelings to a degree and are able to express them. That's not common.
And for comedic purposes ofcourse. Although I don't think we have the same way of enjoying them.

Star Wars Holiday Special Review

That might just be one of the most terrible things he's ever reviewed. It must've been painful to watch.
