Offensive Boards?

Wed Dec 24, 2003 6:06 am

Is this really such a problem for everybody else? I kick the ass of the offensive glass. I get too much boards with MY POINT GUARD, he leads the league!!!

I don't know if it is just the style that I play or what but I don't need any slider adjustments to make it easier.

Does everybody have a tought time with these?

Offensive boards are a mixed bag. If you switch to the player nearest the basket, you'll get a good amount. If you count on your CPU teammates they'll let you down every time. Sliders help, using the right teams help, and switching the strategies for both teams help.

You point out one of my big gripes though, yes the point guard is getting a lot of OBs, what about the other players?. The right amount of boards are going to the wrong damn guy.

I get no offensive boards

Dude, I don't know what game you're playing, but it's damn near impossible to get an offensive board. The defender's force field/box-out prevents me from even getting near the basket. The only way for me is to turbo out of bounds on the baseline and back under the basket. But by then, the other team has already gotten the board, passed it the length of the court, and dunked it in my face. What happened to the Worm squirming between box-outs and tipping the ball to himself?

Sadly, you have to turn off "Box Out" and turn on "Attack Boards" in the setup-strategy-playbook screen in game. Then it also depends on your team and selecting plays that keep your forwards and centers near(but not in)the paint. However, even if you do all that, there is a problem with point guards zooming from half court to grab the OB.

i got the same problem like Kabi. My Point Guard is also leading the league with Rebounds Off and Def!

the problem is that the CPU doesnt get any Off Rebounds.
Ive tried anything with the sliders, for now they are:

USER:
Off rebs 0
Def rebs 0

CPU:
Off rebs 100
Def rebs 30

and how it is with those sliders?

Do you guys use the "3 In The Key" rule. It limits the amount of time you can spend in the paint, which usually leads to less rebounds (At least it does for me lol).

I always have problem with rebounds especially OFF RB.. how do u do this man is ur PG 7 feet tall or wad :o

For some reasons Block Out is so dominant that the cpu hasnt got any chance to get in the paint for off boards. Because of the case that im using most of the time the PG in defense it's too easy to collect defensive boards.

In case of offensive rebounds, I switch after the shot to the next guy and run around the blockers under the rim (most of the time by crossing the baseline and using the space offcourt to get in there), then it's just timing.
Important is the fact that you have to switch immediatly after the release of the shot and get in the position DIRECTLY under the rim (there's always space, because no CPU player would stand directly under the rim). in real life you wont get any rebounds there, but in 2004 it works out.

For sure, it's much harder if you set CPU: def Reb 100, but therefore the CPU hasnt got any chance anymore to get his own off boards.

So i figured out, that these may be the best sliders for now for a strong CPU at the boards.

USER:
Off 0
Def 0
CPU:
Off 100
Def 0

With these settings i thought my own teammates were not that dominant at the boards anymore, but it doesnt really worked out. Maybe i need some rosters where the off rebound skills are extremely increased or the def rebound skills are extremely lowered.

Well, i havent tested it in 2004 yet, but turning "Attack the Boards" ON caused in 2003 that you have no transition defense anymore.
In 2003 turning "Block out" OFF makes sense if you have strong big men at the boards and turning ON if you have a weak rebounders and want your SF gettin the boards. It would be very sad, if we need to use these tactical options to fix the game.
