It's weird, it could have been absolutely phenomenal, but in the end it's like it "restrains" itself to be only a good FPS.
The shooter's mechanisms are some of the best I've seen, the visuals are gorgeous (the best I've seen after Crysis and STALKER: CS, but with much better performance), it keeps you in the 1st person perspective at all times (seeing your hands heal yourself, fix a broken engine, hold your map, unjam your weapons...), which really adds to the immersion. And of course you got this huge environment that you can visit on foot or by vehicle.
On the other hand, there's no "fast travel" possibility (there are buses but they're not that helpful), so it gets tiring very fast when you need to go the other corner of the map each time you pick up a new mission. Well, it wouldn't be that bad, except that enemy checkpoints scattered all across the roads keep spawning back, so even if you've just killed them 2 minutes ago, and if you went to do something else after that and you come back, there will be new enemies chasing and shooting at you. It gets annoying very rapidly to travel long distances then...
Also, because of the free-form type of gameplay, it can be pretty hard to actually keep up with the story. Because there's no interaction going on (besides in a few spots), and everyone you see pretty much wants you dead right away (there's barely any NPC), it really doesn't help the storytelling at all and in the end you don't even know why you're doing what you're doing.
Still, if you have 20-25 hours to kill, it's definitely worth it.
