Dear NBA Live Production Team!
First of all, please let us congratulate you on creating an awesome game in NBA Live 99.
Unfortunately the game has some bugs (some serious, some less serious) that we ask you to address and fix in a patch.
We also urge you to bring back the Ability to save Game Stats (both Team and Player) as this is vital for all NBA Live Non-Modem Leagues. Without this option, it's impossible for all these leagues to use NBA Live 99.
Here is a list of small things we'd like to see added in a patch.
- Bring back ability to save Game Stats (both Team and Players)
- Bring back ability for IsRom Players to have a Cyberface that is made up like the IsCreated Players (e.g. AAAL)
- Allow to shorten the Substitution and Free Throw Process (both CPU and User) by tapping the Shoot or Pass Button
- Change the order when sorting the Columns: When you click on a Column Header the data is automatically sorted in ascending order. While this is okay for names and schools it is not okay for stats and ratings because the lowest number will be at the top which always requires you to click the Column Header twice
Here is a detailed list of the bugs that have been discovered so far.
- Fatigue Bug: The players don't fatigue correctly, the starters usually play throughout the whole game. This can be fixed by lowering all fatigue ratings, but that is not a satisfying solution since it doesn't work okay for all quarter lengths. Also, if you lower the fatigue ratings, the human players will get tired much quicker than the CPU players
- Career Mode Simulation Bug: Sometimes when you simulate a season in Career Mode, the game will crash when a season is complete and it is about to go to the next season
- Rebounding Bug #1: Sometimes a player will grab a rebound without jumping and then jump for the rebound although he already has the ball (Travelling should be called in this case)
- Rebounding Bug #2: When the computer misses a shot and the rebound goes out of bounds and one of the computer players follows the ball out of bounds, a foul is called against the human player even if he is miles away. The CPU seems to think that if one of its players is out of bounds the human player must have pushed him.
- Rebounding Bug #3: The Centers and PF's don't get enough rebounds, they are dominated by the SF's and SG's on the boards
- Steals and Blocks Bug: There are definitely too many Steals and Blocks occuring in the game. This can be fixed to some extent by lowering the steal and block ratings but this is not a satisfying solution
- Illegal Defense Bug: Illegal defense is only called in the paint, you can stand still with your player outside the paint for as long as you like
- Foul Calling Bug #1: Very often, a basket counts after a foul even if the foul clearly happened way before the shot (sometimes the fouled player will even pass the ball)
- Foul Calling Bug #2: Sometimes a CPU Player gets called for a foul but then the player who committed the foul goes to the line and shoots the free throws himself
- Out Of Bounds Bug: When you shoot long jumpers, the ball often bounces from the Rim to the Backboard, but the game thinks the ball has hit the Shot Clock and calls it Out of Bounds
- Inbounding Bug: Sometimes the game will hang when you want to inbound the ball
- Stats Display Bug #1: The Overlay for Team Rebounds is switched, i.e. when in reality the Lakers have 12 Rebounds and the Rockets have 20, the game will report that the Lakers have 20 and the Rockets 12
- Stats Display Bug #2: During free-throws the Stats which are displayed are messed up. Sometimes the current game stats are shown although the game says it's the Season stats
- Stats Display Bug #3: Sometimes the Assist Stats are messed up, e.g. it will say that Pippen has 11 Rebounds and the Bulls have 9 Rebounds total
- Quarter Break Speech Bug: During the Quarter break, sometimes the speech is messed up. For example when the Score is Spurs 29 - Warriors 35, the announcer will say "After one, the Warriors trail the Spurs by six."
- Travelling Bug: When you repeatedly press Fake, Pivot, Fake, Pivot, etc. the player will be able to walk the whole court though Travelling should be called instead
- Practice Court Bug: When you approach the Basket from the South on the Practice Court the Player will never dunk
- Earthquake Bug: Sometimes a bumping sound is played, the court rumbles a little and all your opponent players fall to the floor
- Player Display Bug: In the Edit Player and View Player sections of the game certain features like tattoos or headbands will still be displayed even if you switch to another player
- AutoReplay Bug: Sometimes the clock keeps ticking down during the Automatic Replays
- Saving at Halftime Bug: When you save a game at the Halftime and then later reload it, you sometimes find yourself in the fourth quarter
- Ticker Bug: NBA Live 99 uses a Ticker to display real-time NBA Results and News via the Internet. This Ticker is enabled by default and this causes the game to hang on start-up if you have a Dial-Up Internet Connection only
Attached to this letter you will find a list with the Email Addresses of the Users who support our cause. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
Thank you,
The NBA Live Series Center Team (Tim, Brien and Lutz)

Andrew wrote:The first update for NBA Live 99 addressed a few issues other than updating the rosters and there's been a couple of video card/sound card fixes released through the years. Apart from that it's mostly just been roster updates.
