The second season has been great, the running storylines are a little better than the first season in my opinion though it's a tradeoff for some of Hanks misadventures. I'm not sure how many seasons they'll be able to get out of the concept, maybe a couple more depending on the direction they go from here but it's been really entertaining so far.

The whole Hank-Karen thing is getting old... Either be together or don't.
On the other hand, so far, I think Ashby's and Charlie's (especially Charlie's) storylines are great. I'm looking forward to see what Marcy does to Charlie when she finds out about him and Daisy. I'd like to see him end up like Hank and hook up with random women every other day. It'd be too predictable if she forgives him as she already has before (the whole Dani thing,) and it wouldn't be as exciting if he got into a relationship with Daisy...

I'd have to disagree there, it's not quite stale yet though there's only so many times they can do the off-again/on-again situation with them. I guess it depends how long they intend on doing the show and whether they'll rotate any characters in and out.

Just caught the season finale.
Some loose ends tied up nicely with Hank turning out not to be the father of Sonja's baby and a funny scene all around with the birth. The Hank and Karen saga takes another twist but there was at least some closure on the issues they're dealing with and moving forward, it'll be an interesting dynamic with Hank and Rebecca alone in Los Angeles, probably a mix of the first two seasons. Looks like the Runkle storyline will continue and I'm guessing Hank will start work on a new project in Season 3. Not as much of a cliffhanger ending but a fine finale to what I thought was a very enjoyable season, right up there with the first.

I can't believe they killed off Ashby. He was the most interesting character this season...
The birth scene was hilarious. "I will raise this black baby as my own" and Hank's "celebration" have got to be one of the series' most memorable moments
.

It was kind of appropriate given the character though. He kind of had his finest moment in that episode as well, lying for Hank and talking to Rebecca the way he did. His statue was hilarious as well.

Thanks to the holidays I've been able to catch up and watch the second season.
I'm sad that Ashby's dead, I kinda liked him.
I hope that Marcy is sticking around despite her breakup with Charlie, I loved her as well.
I have a gut feeling that Daisy won't be around for much long in the next season, at least not with Charlie.
What I found strange about the last episode is that Karen let go so easily. Earlier she was desperately crying and stuff just because Becca was moving into Hank's house, now she's going to leave her daughter on the other site of the States. While watching it, I thought she would blow the job and stay with Hank and Becca in L.A.
I guess Karen (the actress, don't know her name now) doesn't want to do the show anymore, or maybe just less appearances.
Anyway can't wait for the next season. I have some Dexter episodes to catch up as well, so they can take their time. Ha!

I finally caught up on this show recently (blame my lifestyle including too much liquor wow and all around not doing shit) and finished the season tonight....I cannot say it enough: I love this show. My own cynicism yet endless hope of idealism coming true is portrayed through a famous writer: its interesting televison to say the least.
ashby had to die: there's no way hank could have made the decision to help and go be with becca without the traumatizing event to wake him up. In the 1st season nothing majorly reached him...hence he was the same crazy asshole in the second. At the end of this one..Hank appears to have grown...but obviously no one knows for how long

The season three previews at the end of the season two finale suggest he won't change too much and frankly it wouldn't be Californication if he didn't hook up with a few women in the next season and get himself into a bunch of awkward situations.

Can't wait for this show to return.

Currently on this season of this awesome show.. I love it. I get season 3 in the mail tomorrow from Netflix. Hank is probably one of the greatest characters in television show history.
He is an asshole, but you can't help but love him.

Finished season 2 and half of season 3...
As for season 2, I think the death of Ashby should've been a major part of the final episode, but most characters acted as if nothing really happened. I mean, he was a main character in season 2. I would've loved to see his ex girlfriends reaction to the death, along with many other characters in the show.

Really thought it was a message about the only person who maybe really knew and understood him enough to mourn him was Hank. And really, most characters outside of hank bore me. Eva Amurri's tits are the best thing about season 3.

Charlie and Marcy have their moments but apart from that, I wholeheartedly agree.

Not gonna lie, the season 3 finale was pretty depressing. You can't help but feel bad for Hank Moody. Should we just change this to the official Californication thread? Or continue making one for every season.
I might wait till season 4 finishes before I continue with the show.

A new thread would be fine.
