The new Xbox 360 experience

I like it just because its fresh .. :D. I really don't think that its easier to navigate as they said it would be. The avatar system is kinda cool but its for kiddies, But the most important thing is that you can now install games to your hard drive and play them that way though (of course) it still checks the disk. So i like it more than the old one but it will take some time getting used to it.. Oh, and it stopped my download (50% done) when that System update message popped out. :D

So what do you guys think about the new X360 dashboard, avatars etc. ??

I enjoyed it this morning. I get a good 5 seconds off the load time between songs in a setlist in RockBand 2 which is a good plus. I plan to try out GTA IV and Far Cry 2 and see how load times and draw in are affected by the HDD installs.

I like the avatar system but really I just want more & better "premium" themes. Looking forward to trying the party system as well.

I wonder if installing games can improve the framerate in places where the game normally gets choppy.

Jao, your avatar is just a silhouette? I thought is similar to Wii's Mii.

over at OS they've said that it fixes the 2k Cam issue in 2k9

i did a quick trial of GTAIV going down the main strip and saw very little texture pop in.

Nice. I've been itching to finish it before GTA IV comes to pc in 2011.

Pretty big adjustment, will take some time to get used to.

yea i'm that cool. :|

So is it worth installing games? Since I only got 20 gig HD one game would take away one third of my space.

I like the feature upgrades, the new menus are decent but take some getting used to, but the avatars are awfully "kiddie". Considering the "consoles are for kids" stigma that still exists, it's a bit disappointing that they're playing into that.

I haven't tried it yet cause i've got RROD atm, but since i saw the first footage, i've always thought it looks pretty queer and the only upside is 8p chat...
On a slightly off topic note, how long did it take you guys to get your 360's back from RROD? (if you've had it)

its not too bad. the avatar thing isnt a bad idea, but it seems like a blatant attempt to take a chunk of the wii market. indeed, thats business but still.

i probably wont take advantage of the new hard drive feature. sure, it cuts down on load times but some of these games are 6 or 7 GB. i have a 20 GB HD for the xbox. Click here for sizes for each game. Some games apparently cut down significant load times, so if you have a 60 GB or 120 GB HD and havent used much of it, it may be worthwile. But according to this website, NBA Live 09 and Halo 3 experience negative effects by downloading it to the HD, so dont use it for these games.

the party system is a fantastic idea. finally i can talk to more than 1 person at a time and we can be playing different games and such. i see it as the best thing that came out of the NXE.

I've only got the 20 GB HD as well so I also doubt I'll be taking advantage of that.

All of a sudden I'm able to play games online and I think I have all the other accesses a gold member would have.
So my first guess is everyone got a free 1 month gold membership with the start of NXE, just like you did when you created your profile.

I know nearly everyone here has a gold membership, but can someone with a silver one confirm this?

I'd be like fucking happy if they got everything confused and messed up the memberships at the changeover.
gawd I 'm naive

I'd be annoyed if they did, I only just renewed my Gold subscription a couple of weeks before NXE was launched.
