Camby To Be Traded Again???

Postby Clueminati017 on Thu Nov 27, 2008 7:27 am

So.... I've got on the BenMaller.com website which it's the neighboring site for FoxSports.com, and Ben Maller is a rumor mill source. Without going through more explanations about the site. Look what I've ran to....

Clippers Marcus Camby could be traded at trade deadline?

With the Clippers off to a 2-12 start, Marcus Camby could become a valuable asset when the NBA trade deadline rolls around in February. His name surfaced last week when the Clippers made a four-player deal with the New York Knicks, who sent Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins to the West Coast for Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley. Camby remained a Clipper, but 13 years in the NBA have taught him a change of address is only a phone call, text message or e-mail away. "After the trade went down, I talked with (coach) Mike (Dunleavy), and he said they want me here," Camby said Tuesday in a telephone interview with the Rocky Mountain News. "I still understand the nature of the business. I know, around trade deadline time, probably a lot of contenders will try to look to add me to their team." -- Rocky Mountain News

Despite all the denials coming from the Clippers, it wouldn't surprise me if either Kaman or Camby were traded before the season is over. Acquiring Randolph allows them to make a deal while retaining a frontcourt player who's posted 20 and 10 in the past and with the three of them there's not really enough minutes to go around since none of them are viable options at small forward for a really big lineup.

I think he suits very well in Denver along with Melo and AI.

Excuse me, I know all about the NBA. What i'm trying to say is that he was okay when he was STILL in denver along with Melo and when AI was also a Nugget. :D

If Camby goes anywhere, I hope it's going to be a serious contender like SAS, CLE, UTH or okc. He don't got many years left in him so I'd love to see him playinh his @ss off in playoffs. He's a legit insider force in defensive end, and should be an upgrade over just about any center in the NBA in exception of a few, for at least an year or two.

Camby to San Antonio would compliment the defensive big man fundamental game. Although in my eyes I'm thinking Houston. If they can make some room around him to be placed on the team where he can back up Yao. Scola is the backup center where they need a solid big man to play the middle ever since Mutombo is no longer on the team.

Camby would be a much better option for the Spurs than Eddy Curry would have been, a deal which probably won't happen but was supposedly discussed a couple of weeks back. Curry is reportedly still out of shape and would be wanting to take more shots, in Camby they'd have a guy who can give you at least 10-12 points on any given night doing the dirty work and when the opportunity presents itself but isn't looking to be the top scorer.

Yes I agree but i don't bellieve the clippers will trade Camby. I'd have to go with Kaman, put camby back on Center and Randolph at the 4. That is the most logical thing to me

Camby on the Spurs would be a dream come true :D
The Spurs have one of the best Guard rotations when healthy, while our SF position is mediocre at best, a big next to Duncan is where we are lacking the most.
So make the Spurs a serious contender, all they need is Center who can grab a few rebounds, block some shots, and hit the 12-15 foot jump shot. This is basically Camby's game, and he would fit perfectly into the Spurs system. The only problem, San Antonio doesn't really have any pieces the Clippers would want. Unless they want around 3 players out of Thomas, Oberto, Bonner, Vaughn, Finley, Udoka and even Bowen. Which seems very unlikely, considering the skill isn't on par with Camby, unless they wanted some veterans and more depth.
One can hope!

The Clips got Camby for virtually nothing. I'm sure that he wants to play for a contender, being close to retirement and all. Being a virtual double-double guy, the Clips should be able to get something good in return. A couple of Clippers are entering or already in their prime, so trading Camby to a contender for a player in or entering his prime would be the ideal situation IF the Clippers are planning on moving him.

Sam you're right. Spurs really don't have a solid or a legit center like they use to have like Rasho or Nazr. My problem is with Oberto is that he passes up every opportunity for a easy shot on a put back. Last season in the playoffs is the prime example where they got eliminated where he was a rebounding machine on offense, and he never made a single put back shot after a rebound. He played like he was scared and his fellow teammates like Ginobili and Scola didn't.
