Blake Griffin

Well is anyone buying into the hype of this guy? I know I am. He is one freak athelete and a relentless rebounder, personally I think overall he will be better than Michael Beasley, this guy is INSANE!! I'm pretty sure as of now he is the front runner for the first overall pick this year.. By the way he sure can dribble the ball for a big.

And I'm saying this while watching Davidson against Oklahoma. Griffin has 16 boards so far.

Since I don't really follow NCAA ball I'm not familiar with him but a quick glance at NBADraft.net and DraftExpress shows they have him pegged at #1 and #2 respectively, so it looks like you're not the only one who feels that way.

Blake Griffin's draft stock is going to rise some more when he keeps playing the way he's playing. Not only he's making a strong impact that he's going to be National Player of the Year coming out from the Big 12. He may not be the post scoring mentality forwards like Beasley and Durant, but he's a force of his own pulling down double-doubles. Although, Oklahoma is a strong favor to win the title over UNC, UConn, Pitt, and so on. I've previously read a comparison that he can be another version of Karl Malone / Carlos Boozer so who knows.

He's not going to be a Kwame.

I reckon he has better tools than Beasley.

Demar DeRozan for me. One of the best guard prospects in awhile.

I agree. I know everyone was waiting for Brandon Jennings until he couldn't pass his SAT/ACT to go to Arizona. Now, he's making almost over 6 million dollars out in Italy. I would like to see if there's a special broadcast if Jennings and Rubio would go at it.

His line today: 35 points, 21 rebounds, 5 assists. That's beastliness.

I was looking at things Blake Griffin related and found this thread from 2 years ago. I didn't want to make a new thread, so I will ask the question here.

Is Blake Griffin a franchise player? Can he be the number 1 option for a contending team? He's putting up huge numbers, but are they just filling up the box score?

Still early days but I believe he could be. As far as padding his stats on a lousy team, I've always felt that's an overblown criticism. It's a fair enough call if a player is inefficient or putting up big numbers over a small stretch, but you don't see players like Kwame Brown putting up amazing numbers on losing teams. A player still has to have some legitimate skill and talent to first get the opportunity to put up those numbers and then make the most of that opportunity on a regular basis, even on a subpar team.

Or he could turn out to be the Shareef Abdur-Rahim(who actually used to be my favorite player). Though I doubt that's the case with Blake Griffin.

He has the potential to be a franchise player. Right now he is all athleticism. Once he improves his defense and comes up with some offensive skills that don't rely on his strength and quickness, he can truly be a goto guy. Right now you can't just dump the ball to him in the post and expect 20 a game.
