Just bought NBA 2K9 for the PC, planning to follow that up with Orange Box.
Below is a tentative list of what I'm planning to get. I'm hoping for some comments or criticisms from you guys about these games for the PC:
Lego Batman - is it good? What makes it good? Gameplay? Dialogue?
Lego Star Wars - not much of a fan of the franchise, is it really good?
Far Cry 2 - all I know is that it's a sequel and a shooter, I think.
Red Alert 3 - was planning to buy it the same time I got 2K9 but I realized this isn't Westwood's Red Alert but EA's, add to the fact that the last C&C EA game I played was Generals which was a big letdown for me. Also saw that they hired some "stars" (even MMAists like Couture and Carano) for their cut scenes which makes me wonder, if they assembled such a cast, some big money was obviously spent that may have sacrificed the game's development which could had used that money.
Spore - I know the concept but what happens next after your species/race has evolved? Is the game basically a glorified "virtual pet" type of game?
Feel free to recommend any current PC games that you know.

TF2 first and foremost.
If you have a widescreen monitor, don't get Far Cry 2 until they patch it again. Instead of actually giving you a wider field of view, it just takes the 4:3 image and lops off the top and bottom.
Spore has been criticized roundly for being overly simple compared to how it was portrayed pre-release, but I haven't really played much of it.
Left 4 Dead comes out sometime in the next 24 hours - that's certainly a good choice.

Red Alert 3 for me. Planning to get it once I have the free time to play it. As well as Guitar Hero World Tour. RA3's a mixed bag for me. Reviews say it doesn't offer anything new. And I'm not sure how to handle it's becoming too over the top now with dolphins and bears. But it's still my favorite RTS series and despite being an EA C&C, I enjoyed playing Generals.
Giving me some of that cash would be nice too.

It depends what you're looking for, but if you're looking for a good looking shooter with lots of freedom to explore, Far Cry 2 is definitely a good choice.
If you've ever played Oblivion and liked it, Fallout 3 is the way to go, it's completely absorbing me right now, and I think my wife may ask me to divorce at some point because of it...
If you're looking for an extremely creepy ambiance, and to be scared shitless, Dead Space seems really worth a try. I know I'll get it in a few weeks when I'm done with Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3.
The Lego games you mentioned are always super fun too. I'm not too familiar with the other games you mentioned.

There's a fix for that at widescreengaming.com, works great in 16:10.

Far Cry 2 is a damn good shooter
The only other one I can really recommend right now is Left 4 Dead.

I'm enjoying Mass Effect now that I actually got it to run without crashing. If you like side quests and an interactive story with dynamic outcomes based on your choices during conversations and actions or inactions during those quests, along with some great visuals, 3rd and 1st person shooting, role playing/character development/squad development, great story, etc, it's a good game to "get."

Have you got Assassin's Creed? Played that one at my cousin's place the other week, thinking of picking it up myself sometime.

GAMEPLAY. (AND ABSURDLY HILARIOUS CUTSCENES.)
Lego Star Wars is completely awesome. Lego Batman is not as awesome simply because the engine is less favorable to hand to hand combat. But it is still awesome nontheless. (Same thing for Lego Indy.)
Since you're getting Orange Box, I'm out of suggestions of good PC games I've played from the last year.

True, though I've also been waiting to see if they patch the enormous mouse lag I get when running it in DX10. So much stuff to play right now that I don't mind waiting.

Do not buy Far Cry 2!!!!!! Read the reviews!!!! The game will bore the hell outta you really fast. Simply Complete repetitive mission. Ugly ending and graphic is not as pretty as I thought It looks.

Have fun finding Diamonds if you choose to buy it.

to each their own i guess, that game is a blast for me, especially online with the custom maps people make
but read the reviews, lowest score is a 7, a 10 from yahoo games.

Hitman: Blood Money is worth checking. Strategic contract killing.

Don't get World of Warcraft unless you want to lose all track of time. It's a very addictive game.

Great that Pat mentioned about Mass Effect. BioWare RPG's always kick ass.
Thu Nov 27, 2008 7:42 am
Yeah, Mass Effect was amazing too, played it 3 times overall...
In a completely different style, I'd recommend both seasons of Sam & Max as well. Most hilarious stuff ever.

I am hoping for a massive PC upgrade this weekend, I hope that my salary will be enough for it. If ever, I'll pick up games like Neverwinter Nights 2 (+expansions), Fallout 3, and Mass Effect, and yeah NBA 2k9.

those games are hella craxy cheap in Philippines and you still don't have them what the heck

And shadowgrin should consider fallout 3!!!!!! Oblivion + gun = WIN
Sat Nov 29, 2008 10:51 am
Yeah. Plus the steam that I'm not able to buy the massive upgrade thing now because my salary is kinda screwed up. I'm thinking if shadow would take Fallout 3. I heard that the gameplay is far from that of Fallout 2.

Don't know if you've bought anything (or if Steam even works the same over there) but TF2 is $10 this weekend:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/440/For this weekend, there's not a better video game deal available for anyone who wants the greatest multiplayer game of all time.
