Pre-Season Game
James, Ilgauskas Spoil Sixers' Comeback

PHI: 24 - 16 - 15 - 24 = 79
CLE: 28 - 21 - 14 - 17 = 80

CLEVELAND, OH, Oct. 27 (AP) The Philadelphia 76ers were set to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Q on Monday, for their only pre-season game.
The fans would finally see the long-anticipated debut of Elton Brand, who left the Clippers and signed with the Sixers this summer.
But Brand's debut was badly destroyed by the Cavs' low-post defense, as Big Ben and company held Elton to 2 points and 0 for 6 shooting in the first half.
The score was 40-49 in favor of Cleveland at the half led by Zydrunas Ilgauskas' 11 points. During the first 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter the 76ers were able to only score 4 points, and the Cavaliers took a lead as big as 15.
Coming into the fourth with the score 55-63 the Philadelphia 76ers started a huge comeback run. With the score 75-78 Andre Iguodala drove to the basket for an layup plus the foul, but he missed the game-tying free throw.
With 10 second left in regulation the Sixers finally came back to take the lead 79-78 from an Andre Iguodala jumper, it was their first lead since the early minutes into the second quarter.
6.2 seconds remaining, LeBron James drove to the hoop with emphasis, finshing a right-handed lay-up to give the Cavs a one point cushion. With 2.8 to go, Willie Green missed a contested three to win it.

The Sixers will fly back to Philly to take on the Toronto Raptors for the season and home opener in two days.

Thanks for the suggestion shadowgrin, although Young doesn't have a good shooting rating. I like to run an inside-ouside offense with Brand and I'd take a three with Green rather with Young. (As you can see from the recap I suck at threes nonetheless). I love Thad's energy from the bench though.

Yeah,I also like Green starting, good luck I'll follow

Mon Nov 03, 2008 1:54 pm

nice presentation.

Good recap but tough loss to King James' layup :(

Tue Nov 04, 2008 5:36 am

Totally missed that one. Very neat layout, lovin it. LeBron finishing in traffic with the clock winding down, damn that is just like in RL.

Im down with your decision to let Willie start because you need Young sparking off the bench. Still I think you could get a better SG though. Maybe a defensive minded player since you say you cant shoot threes well. But dont ask me who to get ;)

Looking forward to more of your Sixers, buzzy!

Thank you. I totally sucked from three once again. Either I have to get some firepower or I have to change my shooting sliders, 'cause this ain't funny anymore. The only three I hit last game (next post) was with Kareem Rush, who is the only one who has the 3-Point icon. And alot of the threes were wide open, those hurt escpicially. :)

Game 1
Bosh Scores 24 As Raptors Down 76ers In Opener

TOR: 21 - 29 - 23 - 28 = 101
PHI: 23 - 22 - 23 - 20 = 88
____________________________________________________________

Philadelphia, PE, Oct. 29 (AP) After a very tough loss in Cleveland the Philadelphia 76ers were back at home for the season and home opener against the new looking Toronto Raptors.
On Monday, Elton Brand’s debut as a Sixer was badly spoilt by the Cavaliers, but this night, Brand was ready to go. He scored 8 points in the first quarter (Which was as much as he scored the whole last game) along with 4 steals which led to a small 23-21 lead after one period. The second quarter was all Moon though. Jamario made three straight “and-1” lay-ups to help the Toronto Raptors to a lead at the half, 50-45.
The third quarter was all tied up, 23-23, so the Raptors led 73-68 going into the last quarter.
Led by Chris Bosh’s incredible 24 and 19 the Raps were able run away in the last minutes and win the contest 101-88.
Jermaine O’Neal, who also made his debut with a new team,, scored 18 points and grabbed 7 boards.
Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala had both very good overall stats, but it wasn’t enough to prevail over the Raptors.
Once again the Philadelphia 76ers weren’t able to capitalize from downtown, they were 1 for 14.

Chris Bosh had a monster game with 24 points and 19 rebounds.

Chris Bosh played well against you. Unlucky losing the season opener but you should be able to bounce back! :)

Solid presentation man. Your pictures are very crisp, are they from the 2k feature or just taking a picture in front of the TV. Regardless, nice pics.

Looks like the Raps beat you in every facet of the game! LOL

Fresh Thanks man!

Thank you, yep I take the pic of the screen. It's easier to get a good angle in the replay mode than in the reelmaker. And the pics look better anyway.
Maybe I'll get the PC version sometimes for even better pics, but right now I'm happy with mine. :D

Sweet Haier play of the day. Tough that you lost your opener. Bosh is a handful downlow. Again weak three point shooting. Philly was the worst team last year in shooting threes I remember and looks like you cant change that :(

At least solid play from your stars, GL next time :)

Sixers Add Firepower

According to several reports, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics agreed to a deal, that sends sharpshooter Eddie House to the Sixers, in exchange for Reggie Evans.
To make the deal work, Brian Scalabrine and rookie Bill Walker were also sent to Philly, Royal Ivey and Jason Smith will now play in Boston.

The Sixers are trying to improve their longe range shooting, they were 1 for 25 in the first two games of the season (one pre-season game and season opener).

Two of the six traded players, Reggie Evans and Eddie House, in their new teams' uniforms.

Alright some might not like the trade, cause I gave up some youth, but I need them threes. lol
Eddie House is an excellent shooter.

Sweet Haier play of the day

At least someone noticed. haha
thanks man

Mon Nov 10, 2008 4:18 am

Love the trade, in my first dynasty with the Sixers in 05 I signed him at the start, he was big part of the team back then. Haier play of the is awsome as well. :)

Mon Nov 10, 2008 6:09 am

Well you have to deal with Scalabrine now I guess ^^. Apart from that this deal is quite good although I think the Celtics would not do this in RL. Theyre pretty stacked around the basket. Bill Walker is imho the key steal in this one. Kid got game.
You filled the spot you needed so this trade gets an A from me.

Game 2
Sixers Get First Win On Halloween Night

NYK: 18 - 18 - 25 - 19 = 80
PHI: 19 - 23 - 21 - 22 = 85
____________________________________________________________

Philadelphia, PE, Oct. 29 (AP) It’s Halloween and the Knicks are trying to steal one on the road, but the Philadelphia 76ers had some treats for them.
The Sixers were outblown by the Raptors last Wednesday, but they were able to bounce back and beat New York Knicks 80-85 last night.
Due to good defense in the first half, the Sixers were able to hold the Knicks to 36 points. Samuel Dalembert had an awesome night on the boards, he had 12 already after 2 qaurters.
At the 5:28 mark in the 3rd period, the Knicks took the lead since the early minutes into the game, 54-53. Philadelphia was able to regain the lead until the end of the quarter, 63-61.
80-81, with just under a minute left in regulation, Andre Iguodala made a running shot to give the Sixers a three point lead. The Knicks had a chance to tie the game with 21.3 seconds remaining, but they came up empty. Sam Dalembert got the rebound and was fouled immediately; he hit both shots to seal the game.

Wow, that Phila jersey looks really sweet

Mon Nov 10, 2008 7:31 am

Nice win, just what you needed against the Knicks. Dalembert was doing great he is still a monster against team without any serious rebounders (eddy curry *cough*).
Nice Play of the Day. Smile for the Poster Gallinari. :D

Great trade that addressed a problem, 3 point shooting, Eddie House and Brian Scalabrine cant sure hit the 3 ball.

So I've done it once again. I started a dynasty/association and lost interest in it rather quickly.
Actually it's not that I lose the interest with the Association itself, it's more that I'm too lazy to recap the games.

So this one is dead, but I already started an Association with the Suns, as they are so fun to play with.
I will just post in the "How's your Ass going" thread, because I know if I start doing a dynasty thread i won't get past game 3.

I thank everybody who responded in this thread, still appreciated.

Well I know this problem. That is why I started the threat. Tried it with my Pistons though ^^ which ended up quickly.
