would like to ask you guys what is the best patches should i use for best game play and appearances in playing nba live 08...

so many patches out there...ehehhe

Just use albys pack. It has the aiact of Kris, zamans fe, improve roster, better simengin, shoe patch ready (you need to dl this separately). I havent tested the latest albys pack as im busy completing the upb, so the lastest release might be a bit different from what i listed. Just try it and enjoy.

MODUPDATE:
- almost finish with the upb roster. I never imagine it to be this hard. All PBA, PBL, LP, International teams (including the RP team for FIBA mode) are now encoded. Just need to add 2 more teams which are the NORTH and SOUTH Allstar Teams. AllStar Legend Teams (allstar 60s, allstar70s,etc) will be blank as there is no time to make them.
- still need to add some of the practice jersey made by prinsipe.
- still need to add some coaches.
- will add some PBA video and the astig sound (my harddrive got corrupted and i lost the old videos).
- waiting for the TNT and ROS jersey by vhan and possibly the loading screen he mentioned if he can finish it on time.
- waiting for the NORTH and SOUTH jersey. I think vinz made them but i dont know if he finish it already.
- finilizing the CREDIT LIST.

Ok the roster is almost complete with the pba, pbl, lp, international teams including RP, north and south allstar (no jersey yet for allstar), and the rookie and sophomore. I just need one more adjustments on the players ratings.
I did some test and the results are
WORKING MODE
- season mode working
- dyansty mode working
- north and south working but somethings crash (rarely).
- dunking contest working
- FIBA contest working
NOTE: the crashes is mainly caused by some corrupt fsh files inside LOGOS.VIV. I have checked most teams and everything seems to be fine now.
NOT WORKING
- 3pts shootout will crash at start
- rookie and sophomore will crash at start

I have traced the cause of the crashes in 3pts shootout and the rookiesophomore contest. Since i changed all teams abbreviation or name tags (as i pattern it to the PBALIVE Beta name tags so materials will be interchangable), the game doesnt recognize the new team name tags i used, thats why 3pts and rookiesophomore crashes.

SOLUTION FOR THE 3PTS CONTEST AND ROOKIESOPHOMORE CONTEST
Solution is to use the original nba team nametags. I did some test and both 3pts and rookiesop contest did work.There are 2 downside to this approach. One is that you cannot play your nba roster (unless you install it on another folder) as the mod will replace all nba material with the upb materials and the second is i have to rename again all of the following
- rename the jerseys (120+ jerseys)
- rename all ingame logos (Large, Medium and Small Logos)
- rename all the pba courts (i think there are about 8 arenas included)

I need some comments or advice regarding this. (The solution i mentioned will probably take a week to do).

hehehe! yeah i actually not include bal david because i never see him for how many years now and i don't know where he was right now. what i have put in the lineup was the most previous player (except Banjo Calpito) who played the PBA and the current roster of those UAAP/NCAA team so that it will be more realistic that they can still play with UPB teams. anyway i have already edited the lineup i put bal david on. those lineup can still be change i just suggested a list only so that we will have much more suggestion who will be put on for the future roster patch...

What i mentioned earlier about a possible solution for the 3pts shootout and rookie sophomore contest bug was not necessary and does not solve the problem. I just realized that NBALIVE folder have two separate jersey folders for the regular jerseys (for exhabition, season, dynasty) and another jersey folder for the 3 point shootout and rookie sophomore contest.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO ANNOUNCE THAT ALL GAME MODES ARE NOW WORKING including the 3pts and rookiesophomore contest. Im just waiting for the TNT and the ROS jersey and the BETA will be ready.

The BETA will almost be a Release Candidate with all game modes working. All will be included with all 30+ teams have proper jerseys. Most PBA players have CFs, some PBL and LP have some CFs. The BETA is almost a complete nba convertion except for the frontend (game menus), well the main porpose of this mod is to make all game mod playable. The UAAP/NCAA addon to replace FIBA or LEGENDS (i prefer to replace FIBA so it can be played like a season mode) will not be included as we have not started with it yet.

Jenz already made a ROS logo. About the numbers, just make them same color.

To 2004: Ill be making the final CREDITS LIST in a few days, I'll PM you later, maybe you can make or add corrections for the list.

To van I already pmed you, do you have the north and/or south jerseys?

DYNASTY TESTING:
The result was very satisfying. Ofcourse we cannot make it perfect. The ROOKIE SOPHOMORE CONTEST selected the proper present rookie stars of the PBA. To make the game select those rookie stars, i have to make all players from PBL and LP have 2 yrs experience, except for some players i know that are veteran ex pba players and i have set their proper years.

Ok year one is good and very satisfactory in dynasty, what about the ROOKIES for the succeding year 2009 or 2010? To solve this, i have to make some promising young players like AL HUSSAINI, TIU, ROSS, CRUZ, MANGAHAS have a -1 pro experience and put some description on their draft ranking like al hussaini being no1 draft pick for year 2009. They will never be included in the ROOKIE draft selection as the game will generate its own created rookies, but whats good with making their pro exp -1 is they will be eligible and are selected in your 2009 ROOKIE SOPHOMORE CONTEST on your second year on Dynasty...now thats really COOL.

Heres what I need, some suggestions on who will be the top ROOKIES for year 2009 and 2010.

Nope. A lot of those generated rookies have foreign names but i also saw some names taken from the roster. Like what andrew said when i ask him about the dynasty generated rookies "dynasty for live08 is a lost cause...". To enjoy the first few years of Dyansty, you have to manually edit/adjust the roster (learn how to edit DBF is a must). Example, theres a generated rookie with a good stats, just change its name to sometihng pinoy and change its skin tone if needed, to avoid seeing a lot of import like players. Theres also a problem with a lot of star players being freeagent during the end of the year, so its a must that you manually edit the SALARY CAP (theres a lot of Tutotials for this, just search the forum) at the start of the season, as salary cap sometimes limits a team capacity to re sign a player.

Overall, i would still say that Dynasty is still very enjoyable, considering its limitation.

I just added samuel ekwe as a freeagent. After reading some articles from the net, i think ekwe may not be eligible to play for PBL or PBA as he is not a Filipino nor does he have a pinoy blood. He was allowed to play as a varsity player for san beda because he is studying there. The only way for him to play for any commercial team is to play as an import (ok i may be wrong as im not into amateurs anymore, i graduated a long long time ago). http://www.manilatimes.net/national/200 ... week1.html

Like Hakim Olaujuwon, basketball is not his 1st love of sports but rather football as it is more polular there. Imagine if he grow up playing basketball and have a pinoy blood, he can probably overtake taulava in the stats department in the pba.

I guess we could drop the san beda team along with the letran-san sebastian and UP-UE team since they have not produce that much talent in the PBA, i think it could be replaced by an NCAA all star and UAAP All Star team that would exclude UST, ADMU, DLSU and FEU another team that could be added would be an Filipino-Foreign team comprised of Half Filipinos educated abroad (Taulava, Belasco, Dilinger, Mercado et al) BTW is Limpot still playing?
