Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

2gb ram

I have been playing 2k9 for the first two days without problems but until recently, it started to frequently freeze during the middle of the game. usually when the player inbounds the ball and walking up the center court. if go turbo running backcourt, the game often just freezes right there.
is this a problem of drivers?
I OC'd card before and also tried the default settings; problem's still there.
I think I updated drivers from nvidia but not sure if I updated it AFTER I got the game or BEFORE I got the game.
Anyone having similar freezes?
How to revert back to older drivers?

Steam, what kinds of FPS are you getting? I have a similar setup, with 4 GB of RAM.

I'm getting around 39-40fps on normal camera
~25 on cut scenes
~20-22 on that floor camera on freethrows
1280x1024
75hz refresh rate
vsync on
AA OFF
Everything on High
Player Ultra High
I used to be able to play the game for my first day or two. Now it keeps freezing about end of first quarter time or beginning of second quarter (7min/quarter)
Don't if this is actually a solution as it sounds un-technical. Sometimes when I shut down the comp for a min or two, I was able to play the game fulltime until I close the game
HOwever, if I just restart my computer, same problem exists.
Is it my video card/ram/cpu?

Try running Check Disk overnight and Defragging...you'd be surprised at how much these two actions could improve performance and fix any issues. If that fails, try re-installing the game.
Also, are you on a laptop?

No, I'm on a desktop.
It may be my hdd that's causing the problem for being too "undefragmented". Should I defrag the whole HDD or juhst the partition where the game is installed. I believe the partition is 100GB with 40GB free and the whole disk is ilke 750GB. Defragging 750GB will probably take forever.

I'd do the whole thing, shouldn't take longer than an overnight scan or maybe more...my HD is 220GB and it was done by the time I was awake, much less time than that probably. But more importantly, make sure you run check disk.

I used to have this problem- when smbd made a basket the game used to freeze. But it's gone now but I didn't do anything to fix it as it was only in a few games and not every game. When it was happening I just restarted the application and if i didn't help I restarted my PC. One other reason why the game freezes for could be that U accidentally pushed the "windows" button during the game. When U push it nba doesn't minimize- it just freezes. To make it run again just press any button or mouse button during the game
