Talk about NBA 2K9 here, as well as all previous games in the NBA 2K series.

Im talking about the eventual 2010 release of Live for PC.Do you think this game (2k9 for PC) will determine the EA guys to think make an even better game for PC?360 port of Live 2010 (maybe 2009),90% of the features that console releases to be available for the PC release etc...What do you think?

I think it raised the bar for NBA 2K on the PC. Hopefully the sales do well enough that they'll add multi player next time. It's really hard to believe in 2008 a game released without multi player mode.
As for EA and the Live series, they're going to have to raise the bar. Their efforts in the last few years on PC have been pathetic.

Compared to 2k9 Live it's a pathetic attempt on the xbox360 and ps3 as well.

Joke thread?
Sat Oct 25, 2008 4:48 am
What i wanted to say with this thread is that this game will maybe make EA work realy hard on a great future release of Live for PC!

Nope, their job is to screw pc gamers at every step they get with lies and deceits, like the statement for fifa

and why it's another ps2 port even after so many current-gen games have been ported successfully. They don't care about the pc customers or anyone else for that matter, ea is all bout the cash, talking about them making any sort of effort for the pc is ludicrous.

Unfortunately, a business is a business. They always consider cost vs profits. We all know that 2k9 PC is trying really hard to get the consumers Live left behind. Hence, they only sold the game for $19.99, which obviously is worth much more. They're willing to take the lost to get the buyers. My concern is that once they dominate, they need to look at ways to make more money and will likely look at ways to cut cost, leading to deterioration and quality. Live only got worse over the years.

At first it is Live who shows the steps to Sports gaming, Now, it is 2k to make Live realize the Enthusiasm the game will bring to the Gamer by just tapping keyboard, wiggling the pad etc...
Not just a game, its Life.
More power to both.

It depends, there are still many people who can't afford to upgrade their PCs to play 2k9 so there is still a market for live

Loss? More like "it prints money!"

Except, if there is one, the next Live will also be a 360 port.

If live wants to gain pc gamers back than they will have to come out with something to top 2k. which i think will be extremely hard
Sat Oct 25, 2008 8:13 am
I think 2k raised the bar for EA so high that they never gone produce NBA LIVE for PC again
Sat Oct 25, 2008 9:08 am
I think if 2K releases 2k10 for PC without online functionality, then Live 2010 will get alot of customers back because they most likely will have online functionality.
I for one want to see competition on this platform so the companies don't get complacent with the version and the features they are porting.

Live is not going to raise the bar due to 2k PC, they're just going to do a port of 360 version, just like 2k have.
If Live is to raise the bar, it's due to the 360/PS3 versions once again being trumped by a much better game in 2k. If they raise the bar in those versions, then yes, clearly the Live PC version will be better too.

I think ea will port the xbox360 version to the pc on the same year the xbox720 and ps4 make their appearance, they are always a generation behind everyone else like frikin' caveman.

God, stop dissing EA so much.

Yeah they might be slow, but NBA 2K9's release on PC will send a message to EA saying, "You idiots, we are getting rich off your mistake". And I think that will jumpstart EA to make a decent game next year.

They keep making the same mistake every single year. 2K's already 12 generations ahead of Live, and I doubt they'll close the gap next year after 2K's been raising their own standards, especially in the last 3 years.

Okay. But, when EA's compitition starts to earn more money then EA, that's when they start to concentrate and produce a real basketball game.
Sun Oct 26, 2008 8:49 am
Except, nobody but Activision Blizzard makes more money than EA.
Sun Oct 26, 2008 9:56 am
The difference between 2K9 and the last 2K I played (I believe it was 2K5) is enormous. The difference between NBA Live 2005 and 2008 on PC was not that much IMHO. If 2K keeps improving like that over the next 3 iterations, then I don't see the point why EA would still bother.
Sun Oct 26, 2008 12:06 pm
Forget NBA LIVE man
Sun Oct 26, 2008 5:17 pm
The funny thing about this all, is that even though 2k series is better game, Live is outselling 2k series in Australia for PS3/360. It's just brand awareness. People who played Live years ago, go yep, that's the game to get. EA, yep, "it's in the game".
The only platform I can foresee 2k outselling Live in is on PC
