NLSC Official Other Gaming Night?

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

I see.
I was thinking that the $20 was for a one-time bigtime DLC/update or that the $20 costs was separate from the initial cost of getting the game for the PC.

My contention is not that what I'm good at must be the best, it's that mouse+keyboard is more functional and more accurate than an analog stick with a maxmium turning speed, acceleration, and minimally adjustable sensitivity. I was playing the World at War beta last night, and I had to hold the left stick up then click the left stick to sprint...this is so much more cumbersome than hitting shift and holding W.

That doesn't address why you were laughing at any non pc shooting game.

Gears of War was the 4th most played game on Xbox Live for the week of Sep 22, still a whole bunch of people playing. However, every time I've played a match every single person has used the shotgun and been able to kill people in one or two shots, which isn't all that fun...I never figured out a counter to that. Also, taking cover seems to be nearly worthless.

Learn how to play? Learn how to manoeuvre, avoid getting shot while you shoot them. Learn how to blindfire without using LT. Learn when to use cover (not taking cover) when being shot so you can recover your health . Learn how to use the pistol, and power weapons like the sniper. God I wish I was in a game where people just used then shotguns, it'd be a sniper heaven.

It does...it's because I find the method of controlling them to be inferior. And that many of them are praised as "revolutionary" by incorporating features/mechanics that have been in PC shooters since the 1990s.

Alright, I'll try some of that sometime. For some reason, whatever map it was on just had everyone rushing with the shotgun and if you got hit once you were pretty much screwed due to the screen becoming washed out and such to simulate your agony, then someone coming up along with them and tagging you again.

I don't even remember where you get a sniper rifle, are they scattered around the map? I only played like 5 or 6 games then said screw it and went back to TF2, as usual.

It was dubbed as "revolutionary" because all those features/mechanics present in using the tandem of keyboard and mouse were able to be "synergized" (stupid industry execs) in a single gamepad, making it easier for console gamers, who refuse to buy a console mouse and keypad for additional cost, to play the shooter genre, which PC gamers have been enjoying all along.
I still prefer a mouse and a keyboard though.

You find them inferior but you suck balls at it? Nice.

Yes, the screen is covered with blood "to stimulate your agony". The screen is only splattered with blood if you are host, a (weak) attempt at balancing between the host advantage.

And snipers, boom shots, torque bows are all over the place, usually in a neatural position so you need to use teamwork or kill at least person to get these weapons. But I think you were playing on raven down if you only encountered shotguns. That map is designed for quick games and only has grenades as a power weapon.

Try playing player matches, off host if the blood splatter annoys you, learn where the weapons are and then go for it.

If you don't even know where the weapons are you really haven't played it enough to form an opinion on it.

Why would I put in the effort to be good at something I find inferior?

Matthew wrote:Yes, the screen is covered with blood "to stimulate your agony".

I didn't even say "stimulate"...

I'll play a little more at some point. I think part of the problem was everyone on my team running off in different directions and me happening to get flanked by a couple of enemies at the same time.

To be the best of who you can be, like the Karate Kid! (That reference just popped out of my consciousness)

 What your teammates did to you were intentional, you're the team's cannon fodder.

I'll probably get it the same time I buy 2K9 for the PC, sometime in December.

Well that's no fun. I'm not sure there's a server that we'd both have a good ping on anyway.
