Postby GodSonInfinite on Fri Nov 21, 2003 4:37 am

hey guys, do u notice that once you turn on customart and install patches that the game loading time is a helluvalot slower? its occuring with me...its gotta be the customart/patches because once i turn it off, the loading time is fast again...just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if anyone has a solution for this...

Yeah, this was discussed in extent last year. About a year late, there. If you put the patches in the .viv you have no worries of crash or slow loading times.

Here is what I do...
I take a patch extract it to my desktop in a folder.
I then extract the kobryan.viv from the xplayer.viv using the EAGraph editor to my desktop as well. You can get that from the NLSC.
Once extracted to desktop or wherever you prefer, open the kobryan.viv
Use the Import Wizard in EAGraph. Select "add files to external tar archive."
Hit next and find your patch (.fsh files and .o files) select all files you want to add... .o files and .fsh files.
This will replace the originals in the kobryan.viv.
Check the files to make sure they were replaced.
Open the xplayer.viv in your render folder and use the Import Wizard in EAGraph. Select "add files to external tar archive."
Add the updated kobryan.viv and it will replace the original in the xplayer.viv. Run your game and no troubles will be had.

There is more to it if you are adding a new face rather than replacing, like say for example Keith Mcleod. EA did not have him in the game but you can create him and give him a face.
It may seem difficult but it is not. Try it back up you xplayer.viv and you'll get the hang of it. I have about 50 patches in already.

For created players it's harder... follow along.
First create the face. Knowing the face figure out what shape works.
Say you creat Jason Hart and you think Earl Monroe's face shape is right.
Take EAGraph, extract eamonro.viv from the xplayer.viv onto the desktop or wherever you like.
Take Vivmagic and unpack eamonro.viv. It will create a folder where ever the .viv file is. In that folder will be everything in the eamonro.viv.
9 files, 7 .o files 1 .fsh file and an index file. (If there is a tatoo patch in the original that will be included in the folder then too.)
Rename everything in that folder. Replace eamonro with for example jahart_ in this situation.
Got that?
Last and most important. The index file (.idx) opens with the notepad. Open it with the notepad. There will weird characters in there but you will see all the file names you just renamed. Rename them from say eamonro.fsh to jahart_.fsh, etc.
When that is all done close and save the idx file.
Repack the .viv by using the renamed jahart_.idx file.
It repacks the file and names the .viv jahart_.viv
Add the new Jason Hart face by opening the jahart_.viv in EAGraph and selecting "add files to external tar archive." Add your created jahart_.fsh and there ya go. Import this .viv to the xplayer.viv as seen above.
